Seven programs across Forsyth County joined together to host an open gym for seniors in front of media and multiple college coaches ranging from D-II to JUCO. Here are some of the top performers out of the 14 players that participated.
2022 6-3 G Kourtland Tolbert – DenmarkTolbert was the biggest standout for me on Monday night. I had seen him sparingly throughout his career but on Monday, it gave me a chance to really sit down and focus on his game. He impressed with his physicality at the guard position and ability to get downhill. Tolbert handled the ball well and used his quickness to put defenders in his back pocket. Tolbert exploded to the rim and was able to finish through contact without issue. As the night went on, he started implementing his jump shot and scored the ball from the mid-range and three-point line. Tolbert was effective when crashing the glass for offensive rebounds and earned second chance opportunities.

2022 6-7 F Jake Mooney – West Forsyth
Consistency and versatility are the name of the game for Mooney. He shot the ball exceptionally well from three and was aggressive playing the passing lanes on defense. Over the course of the offseason, Mooney has seen his stock skyrocket. He has good footwork in the low post and is a skilled driver when putting the ball on the floor. He causes mismatches with his well-rounded offensive game. He’s emerged as a priority target for D-III schools and could eventually see a D-II offer materialize. He will look to improve off a junior season which saw him average 12 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3 assists and shoot 39% from three.
Coming off an 11-14 season, @wfhsbasketball has a chance to sneak up on people in 7A.
A lot of difficult covers led by 2022 6-7 F @JakeMooney300.

2022 6-6 F Grant Moore – West Forsyth
Much like Jake Mooney, Grant Moore is a matchup nightmare with his athleticism and touch. He had a terrific night shooting the ball from distance. Moore’s ability to stretch the floor allows him opportunities to use his quick first step to drive by defenders. Staying aggressive and making sure to mix in some post touches and more attempts downhill will help Moore flourish his senior season.
2022 6-10 C Eli Chol – Forsyth Central
At a long wiry 6-foot-10, Eli Chol moves gracefully with ball skills like a guard. He can catch opponents napping on the perimeter with a long first step that gets him to the basket. Chol likes to float around the perimeter and will need to add strength to score through contact on post-ups, but his outside shooting and nimble footwork makes him a threat on the wing. Defensively, Chol wipes away shots with ease. The amount of ground he covers with his elite length allows him to reject the highest arcing of shots. Howard offered Chol back in March. He’s an interesting prospect, best suited as a stretch-four at the next level.
2022 6-0 PG Ethan Underwood – South Forsyth
Ethan Underwood grew on me over the offseason and he continues to impress. He’s a heady guard that utilizes hesitation dribbles consistently, always trying to get his defender on their heels. Underwood does a nice job slicing into the lane and is a good decision maker as a passer. He’s a quality shooter when he gets his feet set. Underwood is a very good option for D-III programs.

Really good hesitation dribble when probing the defense and an accurate shooter. pic.twitter.com/rxEDJZTmm4
