South Forsyth (2-0) continued its dominance of the Fall League, filling in for Union County to score a 30-point win. The War Eagles’ full-court press was suffocating, collecting 16 steals. Jadyn Kniceley led all scorers with 14 points, going 6-6 from the foul line and scoring her other buckets by running the floor. Clara Morris drilled two threes to move her league-best mark up to six made on the season. She finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Sharon Tolliver netted 11 points and is tied for second in the League with Kniceley at 18.5 points per game. Maggie Thompson snagged seven steals and blocked three shots.  Sierra Yarbrough led Chestatee (0-2) with 8 points. Riley Black made her debut, finishing with 7 points.

Dawson County 34, Jefferson 30

Tight throughout, a second half surge from Kindra Coker pushed Dawson County (1-1) to their first win of the season. Coker caught fire over a crucial stretch, hitting back-to-back threes, collecting two steals and converting a tough layup in traffic. She finished with 11 points off three threes to go with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Eva Bishop did a nice job anchoring the paint defensively, vocally directing traffic as she kept her teammates in sync. Bishop scored 6 points along with EmmaGrace McCarron. Anna Ayers had 5 points. Jefferson (0-2) received another impressive performance out of sophomore Delaney Dewitt. The physical guard double-doubled with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Dewitt does a great job getting to the hoop and scoring through contact with either hand. The skilled finisher is a foul magnet. She went 6-8 from the line. Through two weeks of play, Dewitt is the only player in the League averaging a double-double at 13.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. Aside from Delaney, Emeri Billings stepped up with 8 points while Eve Knight was steady with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Fannin County 43, East Forsyth 37

After losing a heartbreaker in sudden death double overtime in Week 1, Fannin County (1-1) bounced back, holding off debutant East Forsyth (0-1) in a tight one. Up 18-17 at the half, the Rebels went back and forth with the Broncos over the final 20 minutes. Reigan O’Neal sparked a 6-0 run that gave Fannin County the lead for good when she jumped a pass and scored in transition to go ahead 35-34 with 3:16 to play. O’Neal would finish with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Fannin County put the game away from the foul line, shooting 12-15 from the stripe in the second half, Courtney Davis going 5-5. Davis led all scorers with 14 points, doing a bulk of her damage from the free throw line going 8-11. Ellie Cook opened the game hot with her jump shot, hitting a pair of threes and a mid-range. East Forsyth saw West Georgia-commit Alison Hiddema and Ella Holbrook coach the team, giving way to others to gain valuable experience. Junior guard Nora Swafford stepped up with 12 points, a strong athletic southpaw. Ayla Heard made some nice passes part of her three assists.

Walnut Grove 43, Lanier 33

A sluggish start did in a shorthanded Lanier (1-1) in a battle of two of the League’s most aggressive defenses. Trailing 25-9 at the half, the Longhorns won the second stanza 24-18, but ran out of time to complete their comeback bid after trimming the lead to single digits. Walnut Grove (2-0) saw Niera Ovalles score all 8 of her points in the first half, hitting on a pair of threes. Teaira Kelley was a monster throughout, posting 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals, bringing her league leading scoring average to 19 points per game. Nipping on the heels of Maggie Thompson for the assist crown, Cameria Reed finished with 5 assists, bringing her season total to 11, one off Thompson’s league-best mark. Reed netted 11 points and snatched 4 steals as well. She drained her first two threes of the season in the process. Lanier was powered by Asja Howell who had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, going a perfect 8-8 from the foul line. Following a scoreless first half, freshman Nalani Gainey stepped on the gas, totaling 11 points and 5 steals. Jordan Johnson had some nice moments attacking the basket and was able to come away with four steals on defense.
