A 12-point first half from Addison Boyd pushed Chestatee (2-3) to a 28-15 halftime lead over Jefferson (0-4), who saw the debuts of Anni Aldridge and Audrey Johnson but were without posts Eve Knight and Sara Grace Worley. Boyd netted a game-high 19 points, knocking down 3 threes. Caroline Bull sank a pair of threes in the second half to finish with 10 points. Riley Black contributed across the board with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, scoring all of her points in transition. Aldridge led Jefferson with 11 points going 7-10 from the foul line. Delaney Dewitt narrowly missed out on another double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds while Emeri Billings chipped in 7 points.

Union County 35, Lanier 32

In a wild game of runs that was close throughout, Union County (3-1) showed their mettle, closing on a 10-2 spurt to stun Lanier (2-3). Up 16-15 at the half, Union County found themselves down 30-25 with 2:30 remaining after the Longhorns went on a 7-2 stretch, keyed by Asja Howell (6) and Ajanae Jones (7) who combined for 13 of Lanier’s 17 second half points and 23 total. Union County kept close at the foul line however and clawed their way back by going 13-20 from the charity stripe in the second half. The Panthers would shoot 18-28 over the course of the game. The Longhorns led 32-29 with 34.5 seconds left after Jones scored on an And-1. Ariel McCarter, who scored a team-high 12 points for the Panthers, sank two free throws with 19.7 seconds remaining to close the gap to 32-31. Lanier would be fouled on the ensuing possession and miss the front end of a one-and-one. Corinne Hill attacked the hoop and was fouled with 18 seconds left and made both free throws to inch ahead 33-32 and after getting a stop on defense, would hit a short jumper at the buzzer to ice the three-point win.

Two of the League’s top scorers went head-to-head and traded buckets down the stretch between Courtney Davis and Teaira Kelley. Kelley, the league leader in scoring at 16.8 points per game and Davis, the fifth-ranked scorer at 13.2 both carried their teams in the second half after Fannin County (4-1) led 19-18 at the break. Davis poured in 17 points, 10 coming in the second half and 6 via the foul line. Kelley put up 16 points, scoring 8 of her team’s 14 points over the final 20 minutes. Ellie Cook provided 11 points and 6 rebounds in support of Davis. Cameria Reed tallied 7 points for Walnut Grove (2-2).

Dawson County 36, East Forsyth 33 OT

Eight players scored for Dawson County (2-2) in their tug-of-war win over East Forsyth (1-3) in overtime. Maddie Abercrombie sprung East Forsyth to a 21-15 halftime lead scoring all seven of her points with a pair of threes included. Addison Rouse netted her 7 points in the first half as well. The Tigers kept close with contributions up and down the roster. Jaci Wilson was a difference maker in the paint scoring on a pair of putbacks while Calleigh Lamb also found points around the rim, scoring 6. Abby Samples-Slaton found a diving Morgan Chester with 1:21 remaining in regulation to give Dawson County a 32-30 lead, but Nora Swafford coolly sank two free throws to knot the game up with 32.5 seconds left and send it to overtime. Trailing by one, Chester once again came up big for the Tigers scoring with her left hand to take the lead for good at 34-33 with 17 seconds to play. A pair of Samples-Slaton free throws with 6.4 ticks remaining sealed the game. East Forsyth had a final opportunity coming out of a timeout, having to advance the ball all the way up the floor. Swafford pitched ahead to Hailey Hiddema who’s last second shot was off the mark as Chester was there to contest.
