2023 6-4 SG Kemari Leverette – Westover
All-around, Kemari Leverette was the best player I saw at camp. With great size on the perimeter, Leverette is a big guard with a knack for scoring. He is always in attack mode, using a creative handle to get downhill or launching from deep beyond the three-point line. When he got to the rim he was able to absorb contact and convert And-1s. During the dunk contest portion, Kemari showcased his athleticism by jumping over a camper for a slam. Defensively, Kemari holds promise as a versatile piece that can help defend 1-4. While Leverette was impressive, he did take a few long threes that were out of his range and danced a little too much with the ball at times. I think outside of a camp setting, these sporadic possessions won’t show up as much however. All-in-all, I was very impressed with Leverette’s ability to score the ball and I think his tools will translate at the next level.

2024 6-4 F Justin Burns – Monroe
Long and bouncy, Justin Burns got stronger as camp went on. Burns is a high-energy combo-forward that initially did most of his work in the paint, but picked up confidence and began expanding his offensive game as the day grew. Burns is a good rebounder with a quick second leap. He elevates for putbacks and scores overtop most defenders. Justin was capable of starting his own fastbreak going coast-to-coast. He knocked down a three and also got to the rim from the wing in the half court.
2023 6-6 F AJ Dent – Thomasville
The smooth southpaw scored inside on putbacks and short face-up drives off the block. Dent has good length and quality footwork when spinning off of defenders. He’s a reliable rebounder and a competent rim protector that will block shots.
2025 6-3 W Zechariah Candidate – Calhoun County
Candidate’s calling card was his athleticism. The springy wing caught alley oops and scored with a soft touch floater in the paint. Zechariah has long arms. I expect him to help stuff the stat sheet this season in with his activity, especially in Calhoun County’s press and high-tempo offense.
2023 6-2 Kedrick Bryant – Bainbridge
Ked Bryant is a chiseled guard that can jump out of the gym. Bryant looks more like a football player with his body type and movement. He’s a great leaper off two feet which allows him to finish above the rim with ease and outrebound bigger opponents with his easy lift. Bryant is a good enough shooter to keep defenses honest. If defenders over extend, he has a quick first step and will finish with two hands smacking the glass. I liked what he brought defensively as an aggressive on-ball defender.
2023 6-5 F KJ Cochran – Bainbridge
KJ Cochran has overcome injuries throughout his career and fought through sickness on Sunday but was still able to positively impact games when on the floor. He’s a big body with a mature look about him. He’s a strong rebounder that will bang inside. He seals well and can score with a hook. Cochran has a high release point on his jumper and could stand to quicken it some. He’s a rugged interior defender that has no problem guarding bigger opponents.
2023 6-11 C Aaron Jones – Veterans
To no surprise, Aaron Jones was a top rim protector at camp, using his elite size and length to block shots. He was able to earn second chances on offense, collecting rebounds above everyone else. While Aaron has a soft touch in the paint, he is still developing more of a power game when scoring in traffic which will benefit him long-term. Jones runs the floor for easy looks and has long and quick enough strides to move laterally when stuck defending away from the rim. During stations, he showed some athleticism and toughness dunking over a camp counselor.
2025 6-4 W Charlie Dunbar IV – Thomas County Central
Only a sophomore, Charlie Dunbar has an intriguing frame and skill set to work with. He’s physically strong, able to post up hard and score through contact with a hook shot. He has pretty form on his jump shot and should be able to continue to expand his range and consistency. Charlie has a blend of strength and quickness which should help him on defense.
2025 6-6 F Josiah Parker – Lee County
A transfer from Wilmington Christian in Delaware, people in the know down south are excited about Josiah Parker’s future. Parker is a big boy with a high skill level. He likens himself as a point-forward, able to rebound and start fastbreaks with a good handle for a player his size. While he still has some baby fat on him, Parker has good feet and can catch opponents off guard with his quickness. Parker can hit the pull-up jumper and is a pick-and-pop threat. What stood out to me was how vocal Parker was, a supportive teammate that was heard both on and off the floor.
