2026 Sandy’s Spiel Spring Showcase Registration

There is a lot of shuffling in the polls thanks to Top 10 holiday clashes.

Class 6A is solidifying itself as the top seven are unchanged. No. 2 Newton lost 59-53 to Grace Christian, NC at the Insider Exposure Cherokee Invitational while No. 3 Grayson edged Athens Christian 54-51 at the Deep South Classic. No. 4 Buford routed Class 4A No. 6 North Oconee 83-51 behind Chattanooga-signee Lydia Ledford’s 28 points and E’Miah Fields’ 21. No. 5 Carrollton survived No. 10 Westlake 65-62 in overtime before scoring wins over Class 5A No. 5 Woodward Academy 67-55 and last week’s Class 2A No. 1 Murray County 54-21. No. 6 Cherokee rode Central Georgia Tech-signee Madison Moody to 27 points in a 57-54 win at Class 4A No. 2 Kell. Archer (6-3) falls out of the Top 10 with a 49-20 loss to Cherokee, NC at the IE Cherokee Invitational. No. 9 Hillgrove resurfaces in the poll, getting healthier by the week.

Class 5A No. 1 River Ridge dropped both games at the Kreul Classic, losing to Doral Academy, FL 68-58 and Grandview Prep, FL 81-71. No. 3 New Manchester defeated Midtown 53-46 at the DCSS Holiday Hoops Classic. No. 5 Woodward Academy is up a spot with a 63-58 win at Tri-Cities and a 70-54 victory against Class 4A No. 10 Dalton at the War Eagle Classic with a 67-55 loss to Class 6A No. 5 Carrollton sandwiched in between. No. 8 Bradwell Institute blew past last week’s Class 3A No. 5 Jenkins 53-26. No. 9 Sequoyah slips a spot after an 0-3 week at the Big Orange Classic, beaten by Alabama powers Plainview 69-61 in overtime, Bob Jones 45-28 and Hoover 74-33.

There is plenty of movement in Class 4A. No. 1 Marist took care of a shorthanded Northview 44-28 on the road. No. 2 Kell took three losses last week, beat 57-54 by Class 6A No. 6 Cherokee and defeated twice at the Kreul Classic. No. 3 Cartersville climbs three spots with blowouts of Cass (58-29) and Discovery (71-46). No. 4 Creekside slides a spot with a 75-51 loss to Lake Norman, NC at the IE Cherokee Invitational. No. 5 Southwest DeKalb rises three spots after winning a pair of games at the Adidas Legacy Challenge in Chicago, beating Crane Medical, IL 36-34 and Whitney Young, IL 56-35. No. 6 North Oconee falls another spot with an 83-51 blow out loss at Class 6A No. 4 Buford. No. 8 Warner Robins tumbles four slots, losing 47-36 at Lee County in the Girl Power Classic but more importantly, rumored to have lost star guard Trinitee Thomas to an ACL tear. No. 9 Jones County lost 60-59 in overtime at Class A D-I No. 1 Putnam County while No. 10 Dalton fell 70-54 at the War Eagle Classic against host Class 5A No. 5 Woodward Academy.

Class 3A has changes in the middle of the poll but at the top, No. 1 Luella continued to roll with a 69-65 double overtime win against Military Magnet Academy, SC at the IE Cherokee Invitational. No. 3 Sandy Creek dispatched of Class 3A-1A Private No. 10 Trinity Christian 69-52. No. 6 Heritage-Catoosa balloons four spots by winning the Hounds Holiday Hoops Classic Championship, beating Walton 68-56 before holding off host Pope 44-43. No. 7 White County lost 56-37 to South Gwinnett at the Deep South Classic before barely surviving Decatur 46-42. No. 8 Jenkins tumbles three spaces with losses to Class 5A No. 8 Bradwell Institute 53-26 and Nova, FL 74-29 at the Savannah Holiday Classic. No. 9 Dawson County lost Private No. 7 GAC 56-49 while No. 10 Pickens was swept at the Hounds Holiday Hoops Classic, beaten by Pope 33-32 and Walton 52-31 to sink two positions in the poll.

For the first time this season, No. 1 Columbia takes over the top spot in Class 2A after the Eagles went 2-0 at the War Eagle Classic, beating Tri-Cities 46-44 and Oxford, MS 59-49. No. 2 Josey beat Greenbrier 63-47 while No. 3 Thomson beat the Wolfpack 51-39. No. 4 Murray County sinks three spaces, losing at Class 6A No. 5 Carrollton 54-21 but more importantly for the second straight season, losing Miley McClure for the year with another ACL tear. No. 7 Westside-Macon falls a slot with a 65-45 loss at Central-Macon. No. 8 Hart County was swept by Class A D-I No. 3 Elbert County, beaten for a second time 60-43. No. 10 Sonoraville barely hangs onto their spot after a 49-48 loss at Cass. Coahulla Creek (8-5) departs after losing to Class A D-I No. 2 Bremen 59-54 and Gordon Lee 54-52. No. 9 Tattnall County bounces back into the Top 10 fresh off a 39-30 win at Vidalia.

The top seven in Class A D-I remain the same. No. 1 Putnam County stayed perfect with a 60-59 overtime win over Class 4A No. 9 Jones County as Jaikarccie Smith scored 15 points. No. 2 Bremen picked up another Top 10 win, defeating last week’s Class 2A No. 10 Coahulla Creek 59-54 at the Gordon Lee Christmas Tournament. No. 3 Elbert County rallied to beat No. 6 Rabun County after trailing the majority of the game 67-63 before losing 50-44 at Private No. 5 Athens Academy and beating Class 2A No. 8 Hart County 60-43. No. 8 Heard County suffered a 48-34 loss to Norcross at the Heard County Holiday Classic. No. 10 Washington County clings onto their spot after a 54-50 loss at Bleckley County after beating the Royals 76-46 earlier in the year. Model (6-4) completes their freefall from number one to unranked as the Blue Devils struggled at the Rome Seven Hills Rotary Christmas Tournament, beat 57-54 by Pepperell and edged by 4-7 Rockmart 55-54 as injuries have helped derail Model’s season. No. 9 East Laurens debuts in the Top 10 after a 70-49 win over Bleckley County.

Once again in another classification, the top seven in Class A D-II sees no changes. No. 1 Wilcox County pounded Brooks County 60-36 while No. 2 Macon County defeated debutant No. 10 Turner County 57-47 on the road. No. 3 Bryan County held off No. 6 Screven County 69-63 and beat South Effingham on the road 40-35. No. 4 Washington-Wilkes smashed Warren County (6-3) 66-34 with Jailee Allen suspended due to getting in a fight at Greene County. The Screaming Devils lost both games with Allen out, also beat by Hancock Central 52-34 to drop out of the rankings. No. 9 Telfair County is back in the Top 10 following a 3-0 week highlighted by a 70-47 win over Dodge County.

There are slight changes near the bottom of Class 3A-1A Private. No. 5 Athens Academy beat Class A D-I No. 3 Elbert County 50-44. No. 7 GAC is up a spot with a 56-49 win at Class 3A No. 9 Dawson County. No. 9 Mt. Paran slips two slots with a 58-50 loss to Dacula at the Gladiator Showcase. No. 10 Trinity Christian beat Troup County 60-51 but was defeated by Class 3A No. 3 Sandy Creek 69-52.
