Sandy’s Spiel Spring Showcase Girls Registration
2027 5-11 F Michelle Ezumah – Lanier
The tournament MVP averaged 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and over 2 blocks per game. Throughout the event Ezumah was elite at getting to her left hand, finishing at the rim exceptionally well with her non-dominant hand. Michelle overwhelmed teams with her pogo-stick athleticism using quick second leaps to snag offensive rebounds and pushing coast-to-coast in transition whenever clearing defensive boards. In the halfcourt, Michelle loved to attack from the post, both high and low. If she caught near the foul line, she immediately looked to get to the rim. On the block, she used drop steps to square her shoulders to elevate and finish. Ezumah scored on multiple putbacks throughout the tournament and was a foul magnet, shooting 13-23 from the line over three games. Staying out of foul trouble will be a huge key moving forward. Ezumah fouled out with 2:14 left against Union Grove in the first round as Lanier rallied for a 47-44 win with her on the bench and she again fouled out in the championship game against Jackson County, finishing with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Michelle is aggressive hunting rebounds and posting up but when referees have quick whistles they can sometimes anticipate against Michelle and can blow tough foul calls. An area of growth offensively for Michelle will be her outside shooting. Her ball handling is very effective in the open floor but in the halfcourt if she is able to knock down pull-up jumpers or spot-up mid-range shots or threes, her stock could explode. She nearly drained a corner three against Jackson County, a positive sign of upside in her development.

2026 5-6 G Jordan Johnson – Lanier
With Michelle Ezumah blanketed, Jordan Johnson stepped up to lead Lanier to the JaxCo Holiday Hoopfest Championship, dropping 20 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in a 61-44 win over Jackson County, the Longhorns pulling away with a late 9-0 run. Johnson had entered the title game 0-7 from beyond the arc during the tournament and without a three-pointer made in her last six games I statted dating back to the Sandy’s Spiel Fall League but on Tuesday delivered clutch shot making with two triples and a mid-range jumper. The aggressive downhill attacker thrived during the tournament at getting to the rim with her right hand and scored all seven of her points in the first round against Union Grove in the fourth quarter to fuel a comeback. In total, Johnson averaged 12 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2 steals per game over her three games. The underrecruited scoring guard could be a valuable late addition at the collegiate level.

2026 5-5 G Ka’Mya Washington – Jackson County
Reinhardt and Crown have already offered Ka’Mya Washington while Oglethorpe, LaGrange and Truett McConnell are the latest to contact the early season frontrunner for Class 5A Most Improved Player. Washington hinted at signs of a breakout senior season over the Fall and has indeed delivered as the shifty playmaker has improved in multiple areas of her game. Now one of the hottest D-III/NAIA prospects in Georgia, Ka’Mya’s growth has come in her offensive game and overall consistency. Washington excels at crossing over to get downhill with her right hand where she is able to get skinny through cracks of the defense to draw fouls. A weakness a season ago, Washington has become much more reliable at cashing in free throw attempts in Year 2 at Jackson County. The foul magnet had an off shooting night from the line in a 61-44 title game loss to Lanier attempting a whopping 16 free throws but connecting on just six, but the Longhorns’ inability to guard Washington led to foul trouble which gave the Panthers opportunities to hang around at the line. Washington finished with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal in the defeat, leading a comeback after picking up two early fouls and seeing the Panthers fall behind 16-2 after the first quarter before rallying to trim the deficit to 26-20 at the half with Washington back on the floor. Aside from her foul shooting, Ka’Mya’s jump shot efficiency has drastically improved as well knocking down pull-up jumpers and the occasional three. Washington’s bread is still buttered by her slicing drives where she can drop in floaters or laser in no-look assists to her posts – her court vision one of her great strengths. Defensively, her ability to pounce on passes for steals or deflections helps make Jackson County’s press effective. Washington averaged 17 points, 3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 5 steals at the Hoopfest, continuing to raise her stock. Ka’Mya’s best basketball is still ahead of her. With year-round skills training and a college weight room and meal plan, Washington could become an impact player at the next level. Regardless, her high character will be a boon in any locker room.

2026 5-8 SG Macey McCutcheon – Jackson County
With flag football over and bumps and bruises from the gridiron starting to fully heal, Macey has begun to round into form as an integral two-way piece for the Lady Panthers. McCutcheon had her strongest game of the season against Denmark in Round 2, keeping Jackson County afloat as they slept walked through first half up 36-30 before a 22-2 third quarter led to an eventual 71-42 victory. Macey piled in 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and drew a charge. McCutcheon sank a three and worked her sweet spot – the short corner – for floaters and baseline jumpers. In the title game against Lanier, Macey supplied 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block. While her offense has been trending up, even in games where she doesn’t score much McCutcheon has provided major value with her intangibles. Though lightweight, she does an excellent job blocking out and is a savvy defender who whips her head through when denying cutters. She uses her length well to deflect passes and isn’t afraid to sacrifice her body for the betterment of the team.
2028 5-6 PG Madelyn Drucker – Jackson County
The reigning Class 5A Freshman of the Year had a steady showing during her birthday weekend, averaging 9.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.3 steals at the JaxCo Holiday Hoopfest. Drucker had her best output against Denmark with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, netting a pair of threes in the process. Madelyn sank three threes over the three-game span and concluded her tournament with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals against Lanier, six points coming in the fourth quarter. Drucker’s instincts often lead to stuffing the stat sheet. She has very good hands when digging in for steals and is an aggressive rebounder who gets the most out of her athletic abilities. Madelyn is most dangerous when she is assertive, mixing in coast-to-coast takes with both hands along with short pull-up jumpers in transition. Drucker likes to float touch passes into the post for layups. She has done a nice job playing patient against pressure defense, limiting her turnovers.

2029 5-5 SG Darbi Stanley – Pickens
Though it’s early on in her career, it looks as if Darbi Stanley is already one of the best shooters in Georgia’s 2029 class. Darbi went 6-9 from beyond the arc in a 62-40 win over Clarke Central in the First Round before drilling 5-10 from distance in Round 2 against Lanier, a 48-39 loss. The Nettes buried 14 more threes against Denmark to capture third-place in a 60-28 win, Darbi surely in the thick of things again. Stanley had 22 points and 1 steal against Clarke Central and 15 points against Lanier. She is a true three-point specialist but does have a sneaky-quick first step for her size as she is able to net one-dribble pull-ups when ran off the line. Stanley’s scoring touch also featured a floater against Clarke Central. Adding other dimensions to her game will be crucial for her development as she didn’t touch any other columns of the box score aside from one steal in the two games I saw, but even if a robust floor game never develops for Stanley, her elite shooting touch will always play no matter what.

2026 5-10 G Ellison Steinhauer – Pickens
Ellison went for 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 block on 6-13 shooting (2-5 3PT) against Clarke Central before finishing with 11 points (1-7 3PT), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block vs. Lanier. Steinhauer’s trademark three-level scoring was on display throughout the Hoopfest. Lanier’s length and speed helped hinder Steinhauer, but she still managed to get good looks at the basket that usually fall but didn’t on Monday. Her star power and consistent ability to carry a team makes Pickens extremely dangerous, especially when they are drilling threes alongside Steinhauer. Against Clarke Central and Lanier, the Nettes made 20 threes and 17 twos – Ellison accounted for eight of the twos and three of the threes, making her scoring versatility incredibly important as to diversifying Pickens from being completely one dimensional.

2028 5-5 PG Jadyn Shepard – Denmark
Having the ability to completely take over games with her scoring prowess, Jadyn Shepard is the lethal trump card Denmark holds over all opponents. The Danes put a scare into Jackson County, down 36-30 at the half as Shepard poured in 13 points. The Lady Panthers turned to face guarding Shepard full court in the press in the second half and pulled away 71-42 as Jadyn finished with 17 points, 3 assists and 1 block on 4-13 shooting (1-7 3PT; 8-9 FT). Shepard is instant offense as soon as she steps over halfcourt. She has deep range and has become a very good driver who can score floaters through contact and cut through the defense with eurosteps. Shepard bounced back from the game before, a 37-32 overtime win against Monroe Area. In order for Denmark to win, Shepard must stay aggressive and take 20+ shots per game. There needs to be a ton of credit given to Jadyn in her tough predicament as even though it would be easy and understandable to force up bad shots, she typically doesn’t make poor decisions and is used to facing traps and face guards for much of the game which will only benefit her at the next level.
2026 5-10 F Maegan Jenkins – Union Grove
The Savannah State-commit nearly led Union Grove to a First Round upset of eventual tournament champion Lanier, falling short 47-44. Jenkins did damage inside, the strong lefty using her physical frame to spin off defenders to get to her dominant hand. Maegan scored twice off spin moves and saw all her points come in the paint. Jenkins showed soft touch at the line shooting 4-4 and was a dangerous shooting the three, spacing the floor as she attempted five long balls. Maegan finished with a game-high 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Her unique skill as a punishing low block scorer with stretch capabilities makes her a tough cover.

2028 5-5 PG De’Anah Oliney – Clarke Central
Oliney came on strong late last year and looks like Clarke Central’s most complete offensive weapon. She is a shifty playmaker with the ball, a fast penetrator with the green light to shoot from all over. In a 62-40 loss to Pickens, De’Anah posted 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block on 1-9 shooting from beyond the arc. She scored on floaters and mixed in a long pull-up jumper. Controlling her emotions will be important as she has shown a tendency to get frustrated and was whistled for a technical foul later on in the tournament. Oliney has a bright future and will be a cornerstone for Clarke Central moving forward.
2026 5-5 G London South – Monroe Area
I really appreciated London’s leadership. She was a vocal presence in the backcourt and served as a hype man for her teammates when needed. South hit some big shots throughout the tournament. London likes to shoot the straightaway three and uses her strong build to score through contact downhill.
2027 5-5 G Vivian Rokosz – Monroe Area
New to basketball, Viv’s aggressive instincts were a major part of Monroe Area’s 46-34 win against West Hall, taking over in the third quarter with steals and transition layups. Viv has an unorthodox release on her jump shot, but managed to drain a few threes throughout the tournament. The First Team All-State softball player holds a 4.059 GPA and is rapidly improving on the hardwood.
