Jayden Whelchel2029 5-8 G Jayden Whelchel – Sequoyah
Even with Sequoyah up big, Jayden Whelchel kept her foot on the gas as the Lady Chiefs raced to a 49-21 win over Alexander, leading 29-0 to open. A top-notch athlete, Whelchel pairs her physical gifts with a high-octane motor, bouncing around the floor to make plays on both ends. Whelchel penetrates with strength and agility, getting to her right hand on the left side. Jayden is spring-loaded when it comes to exploding off the floor for rebounds and steals. In the second half, she showed off her steady outside shot, netting a pair of threes as she finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Well on her way to establishing herself as a D-I prospect, her mother’s alma mater D-II North Georgia offered in June.

2028 5-11 SG Lydia Rogers – Sequoyah
The big guard was instant offense off the bench. Rogers started with a nice move in the paint, driving to the middle before pivoting back to the right block to score. Lydia later drilled a pair of catch-and-shoot threes. With her size in the backcourt, Rogers is capable of creating mismatches. Throughout the game she was comfortable flashing to the block for post up opportunities. Her best weapon is her spot up three but her off the dribble game is growing as well. Lydia used her size advantage on defense as a rebounder and shot alterer who could guard both inside and out. Rogers recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block.

Ansley Dunn2028 5-4 PG Ansley Dunn – Cherokee
In what was a low scoring defensive battle, Cherokee methodically pulled away from Chapel Hill winning 29-10 after leading 13-5 at the half. Ansley got going in the second half, matching the Panthers’ point total with five points of her own. Dunn finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, scoring all of her points on downhill drives. Ansley had two hoops in transition including a slick coast-to-coast And-1 in which she raced down the right sideline to set up a euro stepping reverse layup across the lane with her right hand. Ansley’s skill with the ball as both a scorer and table setter has D-II and D-I schools lining up to offer. Although slightly undersized, Dunn’s physicality with how she craftily throws herself into defenders to draw contact makes her a handful to cover.

2029 5-10 F Chloee King – Cherokee
I liked what Chloee brought to a new-look Cherokee team, especially in the frontcourt. The flag football wide receiver is long and light on her feet. She’s aggressive in the paint when it comes to tracking down rebounds, capable of grabbing boards and pogoing back up to finish. King had fluidity off the dribble when driving to the hoop and went 2-4 from the foul line as she gathered 6 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block.

Londyn Richardson2030 5-3 PG Londyn Richardson – Hiram
The freshman playmaker paced Hiram in a 44-26 win over the Titans. A little lefty, Richardson showed feel for the game as things were under control when the ball was in her hands. Londyn is a good athlete, strong pound-for-pound and agile with her quickness. She attacked the rim with both hands to score through contact. Her motor wasn’t only revved up on offense, she was a stingy on-ball defender as well, swiping away steals. Londyn tallied 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals in the win. As apparent by her box score, Richardson is a Day 1 difference maker for the Hornets.

Brittain Payne2029 5-1 G Brittain Payne – Hiram
Part of a young, tiny backcourt, Brittain Payne brought the firepower in the final game of the day as she drained three threes and two pull-up jumpers to account for a game-high 14 points. Payne’s shot-making along the perimeter thwarted any chances of a Titan comeback.
