Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Standouts

Myori Pruitt2023 5-3 PG Myori Pruitt – Arabia Mountain
Like a pesky gnat that just won’t go away, Myori Pruitt was all over the place especially with her on-ball defensive pressure. What Pruitt lacks in size she makes up for with her hustle and pure energy. She’s small enough to get up under ball handlers and make them uncomfortable with her quick hands and lateral speed. She’s able to ignite fastbreak opportunities and get all the way to the basket after digging out steals. Her outside shot needs some fine tuning, but she doesn’t let that affect how effective she is as a playmaker, able to weave through the defense and set up teammates. Pruitt was the energizer bunny in a 52-35 win, recording 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

Madison Ruff2024 5-8 PG Madison Ruff – Baldwin
There will be a changing of the guard once Tamia Smith graduates from Baldwin and passes the torch onto Madison Ruff. The rising sophomore was very impressive in her first impression, using a great handle paired with a strong build to manipulate the defense and get to the rim. Ruff has an advanced feel for the game. She understands how to use screens to her advantage and can turn corners and finish through contact at the rim. She’s a very good athlete that should tear up Middle Georgia over the course of her career. Ruff compiled 10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. She looks like a legitimate D-I prospect.

2022 5-9 G D’Mya Griffin – Grovetown
The biggest stock riser from camp was D’Mya Griffin. She had an impressive showing last year, but a torn ACL in the offseason put a halt to her momentum and hindered what could have been a very good Grovetown team from reaching their potential. Now back with a brace on her right knee, Griffin played with confidence and high IQ as she made nearly every play imaginable on Sunday. D’Mya knew where to be at all times, making a positive impact in a variety of ways as she tallied 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block. Griffin’s high skill level was apparent as she hit a three, knocked down a pull-up jumper and went coast-to-coast for her buckets. A big guard that can play either the 2 or 3, Griffin was comfortable clearing rebounds and pushing the ball up the floor where she made the right decision on whether to take it herself or drop off a bounce pass at the perfect time. With her solid size, she can defend 1-3 and use her length to alter shots or deflect passes. If Griffin stays healthy and finishes her senior season like how she played on Sunday, I could see D-II programs jumping in the mix.

Olivia Hutcherson2023 6-0 F Olivia Hutcherson – Holy Innocents’
The size, strength and motor of Olivia Hutcherson made her an early standout at the PGH Top 250. Hutcherson has a strong base which helps her move opponents out of the way for rebounds and allows her to rise up for rebounds. Hutcherson can finish through contact inside and does a great job running the floor to beat her man down court. Olivia has a soft touch and will shoot the three. She’s a threat from 15-feet and can muscle her way to the rim off the dribble. Hutcherson dominated in her first game of the day, posting 20 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block in a 49-48 win.

2023 5-11 W Kanija Daniel – Carrollton
The Swiss Army Knife did her usual stat sheet stuffing collecting 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Daniel’s offensive game looked good, scoring on a nice spin move and later hitting a three. She’s an impact player defensively with her energy as a rebounder and a defender that can guard 1-5. As she continues to grow her jump shot’s range she will get better and better. Daniel has all the intangibles to warrant her High Major offers.

2023 5-7 CG Taiylor Williams – Brookstone
One of the more impressive players of the day was Taiylor Williams. Little known to those who don’t follow closely during the high school season, the All-State guard out of Columbus has been putting up numbers in Class A-Private since Day 1. Williams is a talented scorer that creates off the dribble. She’s a dangerous shooter that can routinely make shots off the bounce. Williams has nice footwork when attacking the rim and can use ball fakes and step throughs to get bigger defenders off balance. Taiylor finished with 10 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. She caught the eye of colleges in attendance.

2023 5-9 PG Courtney Nesbitt – Archer
Every time I watch Courtney Nesbitt play, I like her more and more. She’s a consistent producer that can affect games aside from just scoring. Her motor is always geared up, pairing it with her length and athleticism which makes her a two-way standout. Nesbitt had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks. She doesn’t need the ball in her hands at all times on offense, able to move without the ball and slash in for putbacks and second chance opportunities. Her on-ball defense and ability to get into passing lanes makes her an above-average defender.
