Proving Grounds: Standout Seniors

Emondre Bowles2021 6-2 CG Emondre Bowles – Savannah Select – Johnson-Savannah
Lander offered and CSU Bakersfield started to show interest after Emondre Bowles ripped up the competition averaging 33 points over three games this past weekend. Bowles was electric with the ball in his hands, splitting double teams routinely and slicing his way to the basket. He would blast through presses all by himself and score at the rim through contact. Bowles played both on and off the ball. With only five players on the roster and the offense completely centered around him, Bowles didn’t have much time to catch his breath. He didn’t take any plays off on defense, consistently jumping passing lanes to ignite fast breaks. Bowles fought over screens to apply constant pressure on the offense.  When the ball was in his hands, Emondre scored on post up opportunities with turnaround jumpers. He created his own offense on the perimeter off the bounce and nailed 7 threes over two games. He piled in 37 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 blocks on Saturday night before going for 30 points (7-10 2PT; 3-10 3PT; 7-8 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in his final game on Sunday, only turning the ball over twice. Bowles is a strong athlete with a tremendous motor and feel for the game. He is coachable and has been a winner since Day 1. College coaches are starting to take notice. He’s a great option for all levels.

2021 6-2 SG Will Freeman – Team Strap – Baldwin
A sneaky good off-guard, Will Freeman put in 20 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals vs. Savannah Select. Freeman is a bulky guard that does a good job getting downhill and finishing at the rim. He had the ball knocked away from him a few times when getting to the basket, but even though it was far from his best performance he still carried Team Strap. Freeman can knockdown the three-point shot and can take contact on most drives. He’s a player to track for smaller schools.

2021 6-6 PF Jordan Shoob – Team Northside – Woodward Academy
I’ve been intrigued by Jordan Shoob’s potential for a few years now. He’s never gotten a chance to play a huge role at Woodward Academy since the arrival of Walker Kessler, but Shoob could be a breakout candidate this season. He’s a mobile forward that’s active and has some athleticism. Shoob competes on the glass and has an offensive game that can extend to 15-feet out with a nice touch inside, a mid-range jumper and some straight-line drives. He went for 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 blocks vs. XFE. He’s a really good option at the D-III level.

2021 5-11 G Mason Barnes – Atlanta Wolfpack – Lambert
A slick guard with deep range, Mason Barnes is a steady scorer that can play either guard position. He has a nice handle and a high IQ. Playing with the Atlanta Wolfpack, the synergy of the team is excellent as each player knows how to play with one another. Barnes is the glue that keeps everyone together with his savvy passing skills and leadership. Mason sank 3 threes en route to 14 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal in a 65-47 win over HYPE-LEE.

2021 6-3 F Tyler Lane – Atlanta Wolfpack – Dawson County
The strong bodied forward is the definition of an inside-out threat. Lane has the strength to score around the rim and compete on the glass, but also the finesse to stretch the floor and hit the open three. He’s a nice versatile piece that can cause matchup issues. He hit 2 threes and finished with 10 points.

2021 6-2 G Joakeim Celestin – Atlanta Wolfpack – Dawson County
An athletic guard that possesses upside defensively, Joakeim Celestin will provide much needed athleticism and versatility on the wing at his new home in Dawsonville. Celestin can play 1-3 and make an impact on defense with his quickness. He’s a solid shooter and a tough finisher that plays above the rim. He had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks vs. HYPE-LEE.

2021 6-0 G Chase Tucker – HYPE 2021 – Mt. Pisgah
Known for his three-point shooting, did that and more at Proving Grounds. Tucker proved that he was more than just a floor spacer as he aggressively attacked the teeth of the defense with hard drives, earning himself trips to the line. In a last-second loss to the Alabama Celtics 67-65, Tucker went 6-6 from the line and sank 2 threes while finishing with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

2021 6-4 G Kyle Duncan – HYPE 2021 – Centennial
It was another consistent stat-stuffing outing from Kyle Duncan. The long guard that keeps growing both in size and game, went for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. He swoops in for offensive rebounds and sees the floor exceptionally well. He’s got the length to finish strong at the rim. Duncan is a very good-looking prospect with his best basketball ahead of him.
