Kara Dunn2022 6-0 W Kara Dunn – Mt. Paran
Locked in a tight 24-23 game at the half, it was none other than Georgia Tech-signee Kara Dunn that made the difference and lifted the Eagles to a 49-38 win over Archer, holding the host Tigers to 18 points over the final three quarters. Dunn scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the second half to pair with 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 1 block. Dunn took her time to get into the flow of the game. She never panics or gets flustered. Kara plays with a cool poise and in doing so, raises the play of those around her. Her IQ and efficient offensive game are hallmarks. She takes what the defense gives her and doesn’t have a problem with serving as a facilitator instead of a scorer. The well-rounded Dunn has a high floor at the college level.

Jacalyn Myrthil
2025 5-5 PG Jacalyn Myrthil – Mt. Paran
Her shot is funky but it goes in. The talented young point guard drilled 3 threes en route to 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Myrthil does the little things well. She’s a good ball handler and takes the extra step to find the perfect angle on post feeds. Myrthil is an aggressive on-ball defender with quickness. It will be fun to track Jacalyn’s progression over the next four years. She has a high skill level already and could find herself on D-I radars by the time she’s a senior.

Taniya McGowan2023 5-11 W Taniya McGowan – Archer
Taniya McGowan is a big, physical wing. She’s an effective rebounder that can score through contact inside but also has a dangerous jump shot with three-point range. McGowan had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals and 2 blocks. She scored on three drives, using her strength to put defenders in her rearview. McGowan is a solid defender. She doesn’t pop out at you with elite length, but she’s a good shot blocker and has active hands. McGowan is being tracked closely by D-I programs.

Mataya Gayle2023 5-7 PG Mataya Gayle – River Ridge
The electrifying athleticism and playmaking of Mataya Gayle are superb but it’s her consistency that stands out. You can pencil in the same stat line nearly every night. She hit her averages on Saturday with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Gayle is special in the fact that she doesn’t need to score 20+ every night to have a good game. The way she sets the tone defensively and the pace she plays with on offense energizes the Knights. Gayle is an elite point guard that will see more D-I offers pour in soon.

Allie Sweet2024 6-0 F Allie Sweet – River Ridge
One of the best rebounders in the state, Allie Sweet is a true double-double machine. Her length and activity in the paint are hard to control. She crashes the glass and keeps the ball high on putbacks. She had 14 points, 14 rebounds and 3 steals. The volleyball standout hasn’t even scratched the surface of her potential yet. If she decides to focus more on basketball and refine her offensive game, her effectiveness could draw college attention.

Sanaa Tripp
2024 5-8 PG Sanaa Tripp – Newton
While it wasn’t her best overall game, Sanaa Tripp still had bright flashes of why she’s a blue-chip prospect. She’s explosive with the ball in her hands as it’s on a string when she attacks the defense. Tripp excels at getting into the paint and forcing defenses to foul her to stop layups. She’s a good shooter off the dribble that can create space and launch from beyond the arc. Tripp scored on three drives, one finish with her left hand and knocked down a pair of threes, one coming off a pretty crossover step-back. Tripp recorded 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block going 8-12 from the foul line.

2024 5-8 SG Tre’Miyah Berry – Newton
Microwave scorer Tre’Miyah Berry can pour in points in bunches. She got hot in the second and third quarters and finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. She sank 4 threes. Berry is able to get separation on the perimeter to get room for clean looks and is also very lethal off the catch from the three-point line. When River Ridge started closing out hard, Berry was able to put the ball on the floor and get to her floater. Continuing to mix in drives and strengthening her handle downhill will help with Berry’s development. Her outside shot is already among the best in her class.
