UNC-signee Walker Kessler scored 7 of his game-high 17 points in a row over the final two minutes to help put Woodward Academy ahead for good. Kessler also grabbed 8 rebounds. Will Richard had 15 points and 12 rebounds while Michael Whitmore hit a timely baseline jumper late in the game and finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Pace Academy received 16 points and 10 rebounds from Cole Middleton. Four-star wing Matthew Cleveland was held to 9 points and 11 rebounds, scoring just one point after netting eight in the first quarter. Madison Durr chipped in 9 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.
No. 2 Denmark 55, Maynard Jackson 52: The Danes survived a scare against Maynard Jackson at the Hawks Naismith Classic. Down 27-22 at the half, Denmark rode Robert Cowherd and Sutton Smith to the finish line. Cowherd finished with a game-high 23 points on 15-18 FT, while Smith contributed 16 points and 4 rebounds. Maksim Vinogradov added an important 8 points. Maynard Jackson was led by Timipa Ogoun’s 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. KJ Coleman had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists while Jeremiah Coleman pitched in 7 points and 6 rebounds.

All-State forwards John Whitehead (15) and Emmanuel Jones (13) combined for 28 points to push the Spartans to victory.
