12. 6-4 CG Akil Robinson – KIPP Atlanta
Akil erupted onto the scene as a legitimate D-I prospect, cementing his status with a strong June at GBCA Live. Robinson is a big guard with explosive downhill athleticism and an easy flow when getting to his jump shot. Akil’s feathery touch torches defenses with his mid-range pull-up. His activity defensively results in steals for breakaway slams. After averaging 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game, Robinson is in a position to creep those numbers even higher as KIPP looks like an early state title favorite. Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech, Longwood, Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast and Nevada all offered over the summer.
17. 6-10 C Jamil Robinson – ELCA
After missing a bulk of the season last year due to a foot injury, Jamil Robinson started to establish himself as a game changing defensive presence, posting 3.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.3 blocks per game over the final six games of the season. Robinson enjoyed a meteoric ascent up recruiting boards over the summer as a healthy Jamil proved to be an enviable one as colleges offered in droves before Robinson committed to North Carolina State. At 6-foot-10, Robinson has more than just great size, he has good coordination and a rapidly improving offensive game. Jamil flashes clean footwork in the low post, comfortable facing up to attack. His nimbleness and steady touch from 15-feet are positive indicators of his long-term development. Robinson’s coachability and willingness to hang his hat on doing the dirty work all while polishing his offensive game makes Jamil a breakout candidate on a now loaded ELCA roster, a favorite on paper to win state.
29. 6-2 CG De’Cori Fleming – Butler
De’Cori committed to Presbyterian over the summer. The two-way standout is a high-energy defender who can guard all over. Offensively, Fleming’s steady transition to becoming more of an on-ball playmaker has helped raise his stock. De’Cori is an efficient scorer, tough toward the rim where he uses his length and athleticism to finish through contact and smooth off the bounce when stopping for pull-up jumpers. Fleming comes off a state runner-up season in which he posted 14.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
30. 6-6 W Graham Titus – Kennesaw Mountain
Southern Indiana offered in June after Graham’s stock started to soar. Standing around 6-foot-6, Titus has next-level length on the perimeter along with a knockdown jumper. Graham’s scoring prowess extends to all three levels as he’s able to use his height to shoot over contests. His size gives him versatility on both ends of the floor. He’s a rangy defender that covers a lot of ground sideline-to-sideline, closing out hard with his hands up. Titus will get the lion’s share of the shots at Kennesaw Mountain, a green light that should lead to high-octane numbers his senior season.
37. 6-2 PG Tyler Griffin – Starr’s Mill
Tyler Griffin continues to produce at an alarmingly high level which in turn has thrust him up the rankings. The Region 3-4A Player of the Year poured in 28.3 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals per game in a tough region which featured semifinalist Jonesboro and Griffin. College programs are starting to take notice with Berry and Wheaton both offering. Tyler’s feel, deceptive creativity and overall toughness should continue to balloon him up recruiting boards. Griffin is a three-level scorer with a quick burst to the rim, skilled at finishing through fouls. His three-point shot opens up the floor and his tight handle allows him the ability to penetrate as a facilitator. His effectiveness and consistency can’t be overlooked.
44. 6-6 PF Christian Gatewood – Eastside
The workhorse forward committed to North Georgia in August. Gatewood’s name started trending over the high school season and carried over into the offseason. Christian is a relentless worker in the paint. He’s a physical rebounder who plays off two feet and explodes up to score through contact. Christian has nice moves with his back to the basket and is deadly when facing up, quick to power his way across the lane for layups. Gatewood is a double-double machine with a competitive edge.
52. 6-8 C James Lee – Morrow
James committed to Purdue Fort Wayne in early September, completing a quick climb which saw his recruitment begin with just a JUCO offer and two D-II bids this offseason. The late bloomer wasn’t even an All-Region selection last season averaging 6.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Lee however, filled into his body and began to consistently play with toughness which resulted in becoming a habitual double-double man over the summer. Lee’s physical aggression has up-ticked, now embracing the rough play inside and dishing out punishment as he seals for position, snatches rebounds with two hands and looks to finish with dunks in traffic. Lee has a big senior season ahead of him in a newfound role of go-to guy down low.
77. 6-1 CG Essien Lockleer – Commerce
A standout wide receiver, Essien is starting to gain momentum on the hardwood as well with his do-everything approach and consistent production. The All-State playmaker posted 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.1 steals per game during his breakthrough junior season. Lockleer does a lot well. The athletic guard provides premium effort every time he takes the floor. His jump shot is becoming an effective weapon, netting 31 threes at a 36% rate while routinely knocking down shots from the mid-range. His defense often ignites his offense and his downhill attack as both a scorer and distributor keeps defenses on their heels.
78. 6-3 SG Keelan Day – Spalding
Keelan is a binge scorer with his lethal three-point shot. Day enters Year 4 coming off a season in which he posted 15.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2 steals per game, netting 58 threes at a 37% clip. Keelan has wiry length in the backcourt, versatile with his ability to play lead guard and play-make or serve as an off the ball sniper. Day’s smooth getting to his spots, utilizing crafty fakes to free himself. Faulkner and Colorado College both offered over the summer. The shot-maker is flying under the radar.
