3. 6-3 SG Brayden Wise – North Oconee
Offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Mississippi State and Auburn came rolling in over the summer as Wise impressed at GBCA Live. The lefty proved to be an elusive scorer, attacking with his three-point shot while using his creativity with the ball to penetrate and his athleticism to finish at the rim. Brayden has an All-State season ahead of him after finishing his freshman campaign strong.
8. 6-4 PG Jeremiah Anderson – Grayson
Following some explosive scoring outputs at Duluth as a freshman, Jeremiah moved over to Grayson this offseason and thrived in more of a lead-guard role. Anderson has plenty of tools to work with. He’s got size and athleticism in the backcourt along with a dangerous outside shot which extends past the three-point line with consistency. Jeremiah’s growth as a playmaker along with his potent point production has garnered him a Bethune-Cookman offer.
20. 6-8 C Kenneth Phillips Jr. – Allatoona
The southpaw is a rapidly emerging prospect flying up rankings and appearing on college radars. Kenneth is a bouncy big man who plays above the rim, a threat for putback dunks and emphatic blocks. Phillips rim runs in transition for easy hoops and can spark his own fastbreaks as well, showcasing a quality handle for his size. Kenneth has impressive foot speed. His offensive game is growing, great at finishing dump offs, patient powerfully backing down defenders to set up hook shots and flashing periodic range out to the three-point line from the corners. Phillips should be the focal point for Allatoona this season, set to make a monster impact.
34. 6-6 F Tyler Mathews – Carver-Columbus
It’s hard not to get excited about Tyler Mathews’ ceiling. At 6-foot-6 with a combo-forward skill set able to spend minutes inside and out, Mathews checks a lot of boxes. Long and athletic, Mathews is a defensive disruptor with how much ground he covers defending in the full court press and when protecting the rim. Tyler posted 6.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game in Year 1 and could come close to doubling some of those numbers in Year 2 with his high-energy approach. Aside from his physical traits and nose for the ball, Tyler’s perimeter touch is eye-catching. He’s a solid jump shooter with catch-and-shoot accuracy from behind the three-point line. Mathews could be a quick riser up rankings and recruiting boards if he continues to improve.
35. 6-4 F Ashton Burt – Hebron Christian
Ashton is a workhorse in the paint. A bit undersized for a true forward, the bully-ball tweener is highly effective. Burt works the high post for jumpers and quick drives. He’s a physical finisher, absorbing contact to score with both hands. Ashton’s a load to contend with on the offensive glass, utilizing his knowledge of angles and his aggressive pursuit to secure rebounds away from bigger players. Burt should play more of a starring role as a sophomore, coming off a season in which he posted 9.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 steals as a freshman.
