The snow only affected a handful of games this past week. Two classifications remain unchanged while only three new teams break into the rankings.
Class 6A No. 2 North Paulding scored a 52-41 win at Etowah. No. 3 Grayson received 27 points apiece from Jacksonville-signee Tatum Brown and Coco Rudolph in their 76-52 win over No. 7 Newton who also lost to No. 6 Archer 57-56 to sink two spots. No. 10 Buford slips in the poll after two narrow wins, beating Discovery 48-41 on the road and topping Collins Hill 50-47 behind Lydia Ledford’s 25 points. No. 9 Lowndes climbs with blowouts of Colquitt County 64-37 and Valdosta 71-42, Mercer-commit Kaci Demps piling in 22 points and 8 steals against the Wildcats.
The only change in Class 5A is at the bottom of the poll. No. 1 River Ridge drilled No. 10 Pope 66-20 before No. 8 Creekview beat the Greyhounds 71-52 to drop Pope in the rankings. Anderson-signee Amilya Taft led Creekview with 26 points and 19 rebounds. No. 2 Langston Hughes slipped past Dutchtown 53-44 while No. 7 Bradwell Institute won at Glynn Academy 44-40.
Class 4A sees No. 5 North Oconee toggle ahead of No. 6 Maynard Jackson as the Titans beat East Forsyth 61-52 behind Oklahoma softball-signee Kendall Wells’ 24 points and 14 rebounds before throttling Walnut Grove 77-47 on the road. The Jaguars won at Pace Academy 51-40. No. 8 Jones County escaped Union Grove with a 48-43 victory as Mya Anderson contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Class 3A remains a stalemate with no movement. No. 3 Jefferson won at No. 8 Oconee County 48-37 while No. 5 Pickens topped Private No. 8 GAC 57-47. No. 6 White County won a pair of road games at GAC 62-44 and at Dawson County 58-54 as Piedmont Lions Emma Lightsey and Kylie Watkins scored 17 apiece to beat the Tigers.
Class 2A sees no changes in the Top 10. No. 2 Josey defeated No. 3 Butler 56-52 in overtime as Za’Miyah Jenkins recorded 17 points followed by Kerri Fluellen’s 16 and Shaniya Sanders’ 13. Butler was paced by Rania Curry’s 16 points and Brayla Harris’ 12. No. 5 Hardaway thumped crosstown rival Carver-Columbus 57-38. No. 6 Sonoraville picked off Ringgold 56-35 on the road behind Ella Kate Walraven’s 23 points. No. 10 Coahulla Creek survived Ringgold 38-37.
In Class A D-I, No. 1 Central-Macon knocked out Bleckley County (9-5) from the poll with a 53-37 win before fending off Westside-Macon 51-48. The Royals also lost at No. 10 East Laurens 59-39 who returns to the Top 10. No. 8 Heard County defeated Temple (11-4) 64-48, pushing the Tigers out of the rankings. No. 9 Lamar County suffered a tough 59-51 loss at Private No. 6 Greenforest. Skyrocketing into the Top 10 is No. 6 Banks County, ranked for the first time since Week 4. The Leopards have won seven-straight including beating Rabun County 59-43 and Private No. 9 Athens Academy 61-40.
There is significant movement in Class A D-II. No. 1 Wilcox County outlasted Dodge County in overtime in Eastman 73-67. No. 2 Taylor County won 68-56 at Macon County (8-3) who drops out after also losing 43-37 at Manchester. No. 5 Seminole County sinks two spots with a 46-33 loss against No. 7 Randolph-Clay who rises a pair of spaces. No. 6 Brooks County moves up with a 4-0 week including tight wins at Cook (46-43) and against Clinch County (60-54) and Madison County, FL (46-41). No. 9 Early County tumbles five spots with a 39-37 loss to debutant No. 10 Calhoun County, winners of six straight.
In Class 3A-1A Private, No. 3 Holy Innocents’ hammered No. 5 Galloway with an 83-55 road win. No. 6 Greenforest swaps spots with undefeated No. 7 SACA. The Eagles beat Class A D-I No. 9 Lamar County 59-51 while the Warriors beat Jasper County 50-41. No. 8 GAC suffered a pair of Region 6-3A losses, beat by No. 6 White County 62-44 and No. 5 Pickens 57-47. No. 9 Athens Academy lost at Class A D-I No. 6 Banks County 61-40.
