Snowfall and ice have tried to slow down the GHSA home stretch but region play has teams jockeying for seeding heading into tournament time. As far as the state picture goes, three classifications see no movement while all eight have no movement at the top.
Class 6A No. 1 Wheeler scored a pair of Top 10 wins, pulling away from No. 7 Walton 66-52 and blasting No. 10 Cherokee 96-65. No. 8 Meadowcreek climbs two spots with a 54-53 win at Berkmar. Dacula (17-4) tumbles out of the poll no longer winning close games as they have dropped three of their last four with losses against Mill Creek 55-52 and Collins Hill 60-54. For the first time since Week 6, No. 9 Peachtree Ridge is back in the Top 10, winners of five straight. The Lions won two road nailbiters, beating North Gwinnett 60-56 and Brookwood 60-57. Duan Day and Daniel Hollis scored 16 apiece to edge to Broncos while Tyler Barnes added 15 points and Micah McMorris chipped in 11.
There are no changes in the Class 5A poll. No. 4 Woodward Academy drilled Tri-Cities 72-50 behind Myles and Jarvis Hayes’ 18 points each. No. 7 Milton topped No. 6 Johns Creek 55-51 on the road to split the season series. No. 8 Langston Hughes escaped Morrow 49-45.
No. 1 St. Pius X topped bitter rival Marist 80-60 to remain perfect in Class 4A. No. 2 North Oconee trailed in the second half in both of their games but rode Justin Wise to the finish line winning at Eastside 55-49 as Wise scored 27 points and avenging an earlier loss to East Forsyth 61-56 as Wise took over in the fourth quarter to finish with 22 points. No. 7 Westminster tumbles four spots with a 77-72 loss at Cambridge. No. 8 Jonesboro sinks three spaces after a 64-60 loss at Starr’s Mill who they beat 84-46 prior in Cortez Redding and Jontavius Wyman’s last game before cutting their senior seasons short to join the Miami football program. Jabari Hall dropped 51 points and 21 rebounds for No. 10 Mays in a 91-78 double overtime win at MLK.

No. 3 Sandy Creek upended St. Anne-Pacelli 74-65 behind Antonio Rivers’ 29 points. No. 4 Cedar Grove is rounding into form now that UCLA-signee Javonte Floyd regained his academic eligibility. The poll remains unchanged in Class A D-I. In Region 8 play, No. 1 Commerce won at Athens Academy 55-46 while No. 3 Rabun County won at Banks County 67-54. Over in Region 2, No. 8 East Laurens lost 64-56 at Washington County while No. 9 Dodge County defeated Washington County 46-45. No. 10 Fitzgerald holds tight at number 10 instead of moving up as they needed overtime to beat 5-16 Worth County 95-90.
There is some shakeup in Class A D-II as No. 4 Seminole County dropped their first game of the season at No. 5 Early County 50-37, the Indians falling a spot while the Bobcats rise five positions. Seminole County had been playing with fire last week prior to getting burnt, winning on the road in overtime twice, beating Pelham 49-46 and Mitchell County 54-50.
