2030 6-6 F Alex Mufu – St. Francis
Alex is a huge addition to the St. Francis frontcourt, representing a bright future for the Knights. Transferring in from The Heritage School where he averaged 12.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.9 blocks per game as an eighth grader on varsity, Mufu was the X-Factor in St. Francis’ 49-41 win over Chattahoochee on Sunday. In his season debut, Alex hung 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Listed at 215-pounds cut with muscle, Mufu is not just an intimidating interior presence, he’s a highly effective and efficient one. Alex showed great touch, rolling to the rim to finish with both hands through contact. He scored on physical post ups and even stepped outside to hit a three. Mufu’s skills are impressive, not just dominating with his size and strength. He has clean footwork on the block to go along with his shooting touch. I like how he secures rebounds with two hands and how quick he is off the floor to challenge shots. Mufu took over in the second half, scoring 14 of his points. D-I schools will surely be tracking his development over the next four years.

2027 6-0 G Kemahri Wright – St. Francis
I really liked how Kemahri Wright asserted himself against Chattahoochee, not as just a scorer but more importantly as a distributor. His two-man game with Alex Mufu couldn’t be stopped, hitting the big man on rolls to the rim with tight pocket passes. Wright’s floor vision led to numerous easy buckets. Defenders had trouble slowing him down as he utilized a quick first step toward the paint to scramble the defense and mixed in pull-up jumpers from the mid-range, netting a pair as he totaled 12 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in the 49-41 win.

2027 6-0 G Stanley Byrd – Chattahoochee
Byrd was a bright spot in a hard-fought loss to St. Francis. Stanley’s a solid athlete, physically strong on the perimeter. He found success splitting defenders on downhill drives, maintaining his line when facing resistance. Byrd buried a pair of threes hitting from the corner and from the top of the key. His defensive effort can’t be overlooked. Byrd declared a no-fly zone in the paint with his rim protection. Stanley tallied 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in a well-rounded performance.

2028 6-2 W William LaBarbera – Sequoyah
A legit floor spacer ready to make consistent contributions now as a junior, William LaBarbera shot the ball extremely well on Sunday. Part of a back-to-back double header, Sequoyah moved to 3-0 with wins over Centennial and Cambridge. In Game 1 against the Knights, Will drilled four threes en route to 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. He sank two from the corners and added a pull-up as well. In Game 2, a low scoring 41-25 victory, he canned another triple, finishing with 5 points. LaBarbera’s outside shot opens the floor for more drive and kick scoring chances for the Chiefs.

2027 6-1 F Logan Jones – Sequoyah
Making his league debut, Logan Jones was shot out of a cannon, fitting right in to Sequoyah’s max effort, high energy style of play. Listed at 6-foot-1, Logan plays much bigger with his springy leaping ability. Jones ran the floor for three transition hoops and was active on the glass, stealing extra possessions and drawing fouls. In a 56-33 win against Centennial, Logan went 5-7 from the foul line finishing with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and one emphatic block at the rim. He followed up his Game 1 effort with 7 points against Cambridge. Jones’ athleticism should help him compete for minutes in the frontcourt.

2028 5-11 PG Dominic LoPresti – Arnold Mill
Dominic LoPresti’s Sunday was too gritty not to mention. Arnold Mill rallied behind LoPresti to erase a 35-27 halftime deficit to beat the Titans 69-58. The Mustangs fell behind early as Dom caught an elbow to his left eye resulting in a bloody gash that sidelined him for the opening 20 minutes and eventually required seven stitches in the hospital. Instead of missing the game to seek immediate attention, once the bleeding was under control LoPresti returned in the second half and wore his cut as a badge of honor and went on to pour in 15 points and 5 assists to spark the comeback. Coming off a huge travel ball season as the lead assist man for the SEBA Warriors, LoPresti’s mature game and staunch toughness has him rising up recruiting boards heading into his junior season.
