There is serious shake up in numerous classifications after the Sandy’s Spiel Tip-Off Classic, HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational, Carrollton’s Girls Night Out and Parkview Tip-Off Classic along with some trouble afoot for one team that reshaped their program via the transfer market.Class 7A is in flux and could have been even more topsy-turvy if it weren’t for No. 1 Grayson’s come from behind win over Class 2A No. 1 Mt. Paran in overtime 55-52 at the Parkview Tip-Off Classic, erasing a double-digit deficit late in the fourth quarter. Tatum Brown paced the Rams with 16 points. The biggest surprise came from No. 10 Buford who plummets eight spots after losing 52-49 to a previously unranked Sequoyah at the Gladiator Showcase, Ohio State-signee Ava Grace Watson held in check with 19 points. No. 2 Carrollton ripped up Class 5A No. 5 Cartersville 74-27 at Girls Night Out while No. 3 North Paulding edged Class 6A No. 3 Langston Hughes 45-42 at Girls Night Out behind Marina Sippola’s team-high 13 points. No. 4 McEachern was dismantled by Class 3A No. 1 Hebron Christian 63-29 at the Parkview Tip-Off Classic while No. 5 Norcross scored a 49-42 win at Class 6A No. 9 Creekview. No. 8 Newton holds onto their spot after a 45-41 loss to Class 2A No. 4 Butler at the Ricky Moore Invitational.

There are changes in Class 6A but No. 1 River Ridge stays atop their perch after blasting Class 4A No. 5 Hardaway 51-23 at Girls Night Out, Makayla Roberson netting 16 points. No. 2 New Manchester climbs three spots after narrowly knocking off Class 5A No. 4 Dalton 58-54 at Girls Night Out. No. 3 Langston Hughes slips one position following their 45-42 loss to Class 7A No. 3 North Paulding at Girls Night Out. No. 5 Woodward Academy sinks two places, blown out by Class A D-I No. 1 St. Francis 87-62 at the Hawks-Naismith Classic. Kameron Herring dropped in 26 points but the War Eagles’ lack of size inside was thoroughly exploited, outrebounded 59-27 allowing 21 offensive rebounds. No. 7 Veterans lost 59-43 to Class 4A No. 1 Baldwin at the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational. No. 9 Creekview took a 49-42 loss to Class 7A No. 5 Norcross. Tift County (0-0) and Brunswick (0-0) exit the poll due to inactivity. No. 8 Sequoyah debuts after shocking last week’s Class 7A No. 2 Buford at the Gladiator Showcase 52-49 behind Milanni Abdus-Salaam’s career-high 23 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. No. 10 Lakeside-Evans sneaks into the poll with a 52-49 overtime win against Class 2A No. 6 Josey at the Rick Moore Invitational.

Class 5A gets a face lift this week but No. 1 Maynard Jackson handled their business at the Parkview Tip-Off Classic hammering Class A D-I No. 6 Mt. Pisgah 68-40. No. 2 Union Grove breezed by Griffin 43-24, Jordan Brooks with 17 points and Nadea Smith scoring 15. Region 7 foes are going in different directions after losses at Girls Night Out, No. 5 Cartersville slipping a spot following a 74-27 defeat at Carrollton while No. 4 Dalton actually climbs three places with a hard-fought 58-54 loss to Class 6A No. 2 New Manchester, North Georgia-signee Grace Ridley powering in 17 points. No. 6 Warner Robins rises two places with a 62-51 win over Class 3A No. 7 Monroe at the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational in a battle of star freshmen. Trinitee Thomas led the Demonettes with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. No. 8 Calhoun got back on track and is up two spots after a commanding 43-24 win over last week’s Class 2A No. 3 Banks County at the Jackson EMC Thanksgiving Tournament, Sa’Niah Dorsey totaling 18 points, 2 assists and 5 steals. No. 9 Ware County sinks three spots with too-close-for-comfort wins over Fitzgerald (56-53) and Wayne County (43-36). Region 1 rival Statesboro (1-1) freefalls from the Top 10 after a 61-56 win at Tattnall County and a 66-34 loss to Class 2A No. 3 Thomson at the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational. Popping into the rankings is No. 10 Harris County who blew past St. Pius X 55-25 at Girls Night Out.

In Class 4A, No. 1 Baldwin pounded Class 6A No. 7 Veterans 59-43 at the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational, Janaye Walker posting 17 points and 14 rebounds. No. 2 Holy Innocents’ fell to Wesleyan at the Hawks-Naismith Classic 62-60, outscored 23-10 in the final stanza. Stanford-commit Hailee Swain netted a game-high 27 points. No. 4 Trinity Christian rises two spots with an 80-62 win over Class A D-I No. 3 Rabun County, pulling away from the shorthanded LadyCats with a 22-9 fourth quarter. Georgia Tech-signee Gabbie Grooms poured in 28 points and 10 rebounds while Ivona Djikanovic double-doubled with 17 points and 10 rebounds and freshman Madison Bennett added 17 points. No. 5 Hardaway is down two places after losing to Class 6A No. 1 River Ridge 51-23 at Girls Night Out.

There are no changes in Class 3A. No. 1 Hebron Christian played their first ranked opponent of the year at the Parkview Tip-Off Classic and came away with a 63-29 win over Class 7A No. 4 McEachern. No. 2 Wesleyan rallied past Class 4A No. 2 Holy Innocents’ on the road at Hawks-Naismith 62-60, Texas-commit Bryanna Preston leading the way with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. No. 3 Carver-Columbus toppled Campbell at Girls Night Out 57-41. A Morgan Chester-less No. 4 Dawson County took care of Lambert 56-45 at the Raider Classic. Emma Lightsey’s hot start continued for No. 6 White County, dropping 31 points in a 69-32 rout at Cedar Shoals in the Peach State Explosion. No. 7 Monroe lost 62-51 at Class 5A No. 6 Warner Robins in the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational, but freshman superstar Kie’Aundria Acree did not disappoint with a dominant 35 points, 19 rebounds and 8 steals. No. 9 Hart County won the Northeast Georgia Tip-Off Classic with easy decisions over Commerce (51-27) and Franklin County (57-25) as Dakota Phillips was named Tournament MVP, averaging 19.5 points per game.

Class 2A No. 1 Mt. Paran saw a signature win slip away at the Parkview Tip-Off Classic, blowing a double-digit fourth quarter lead in a 55-52 overtime loss against Class 7A No. 1 Grayson. The CSRA made some noise this weekend with notable results. No. 3 Thomson rises with a 66-34 destruction of last week’s Class 5A No. 5 Statesboro at the HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational, Jada Kendrick dumping in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals while Ty Latimore chipped in 17 points. No. 4 Butler clipped Class 7A No. 8 Newton at the Ricky Moore Invitational 45-41 to climb two spots while No. 6 Josey falls a spot after a 52-49 overtime loss to newly ranked Class 6A No. 10 Lakeside-Evans. Up north, No. 5 Banks County slides two spots with a blowout loss against Class 5A No. 8 Calhoun 43-24 at the Jackson EMC Thanksgiving Tournament, North Georgia-signee Addison Hoard sidelined with an ankle injury. No. 10 Union County holds tight to their spot even after an 0-2 start. The Panthers suffered losses to Top 5 teams in Class A D-I falling to No. 3 Rabun County 60-45 and No. 4 Athens Christian 59-47 at the Sandy’s Spiel Tip-Off Classic, Ariel McCarter (14) and Paula Robertson (12) combining for 26 points against the Eagles.

Everyone in Class A D-I is clearly chasing No. 1 St. Francis after the Knights dominated last week’s Class 6A No. 3 Woodward Academy at the Hawks-Naismith Classic 87-62, outscoring the War Eagles 46-30 in the paint and scoring 25 second chance points as the Knights outrebounded Woodward Academy 59-27. Freshmen powered the Knights as Giaunni Rogers netted 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals while Aila Courtenay collected 14 points and 15 rebounds as all five starters reached double figures in scoring. No. 3 Rabun County beat Class 2A No. 10 Union County 60-45 before running out of gas at the Sandy’s Spiel Tip-Off Classic, falling to Class 4A No. 4 Trinity Christian 80-62. With three starters missing, the LadyCats shot lights-out against the Lions, sinking 13 threes. Rabun County trailed 58-53 after three quarters but Presbyterian-signee Ellie Southards fouled out around the seven-minute mark after netting six threes finishing with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Freshman Adelyn Thompson drained four threes to lead the LadyCats with 19 points and 5 rebounds while Western Carolina-signee Lucy Hood posted 17 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in the valiant effort. No. 4 Athens Christian scored a 59-47 win over Class 2A No. 10 Union County at the Sandy’s Spiel Tip-Off Classic behind Emmanuel-signee Natalee Goff’s 17 points and 7 rebounds, sinking five threes in the process. No. 5 Oglethorpe County beat Morgan County 68-43 while No. 6 Mt. Pisgah scooped up three wins before falling 68-40 to Class 5A No. 1 Maynard Jackson at Girls Night Out. No. 8 Lamar County lost 67-54 to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at the Sandy’s Spiel Tip-Off Classic, three starters with three fouls by halftime as Shakiria Foster was held to 14 points. Prince Avenue (0-2) stumbles out of the Top 10 with losses to Franklin County and Commerce (51-43). No. 10 Screven County climbs in after a 64-31 win at Toombs County, freshman Jaliah Roberts piling in 22 points.

There is trouble brewing in Class A D-II. No. 1 SACA beat Cross Keys 119-12, but the program with at least seven transfers is reportedly under investigation and pulling out of tournaments. No. 2 Greenforest defeated Northside-Columbus 54-41. No. 5 Montgomery County netted a 44-26 win over Pierce County at the Hugh McBride Tip-Off Classic while No. 8 Towns County notched a pair of out of state wins against Copper Basin, TN (55-47) and Highlands, NC (49-28). No. 10 Turner County slips a spot with a 50-46 win at Appling County. Chattahoochee County (0-0) gets squeezed out of the poll due to an idle start. No. 9 Lake Oconee Academy debuts in the rankings following a hot open, highlighted by a 72-49 win against Alcovy at the Elite Nation Tip-Off Classic.
