With summer ball winding down, here’s an early preview of some of the top players in the GHSA’s newly formed Class 3A.

2027 6-6 W Frashad Tisby – Cross Creek
Frashad is a hot commodity picking up offers from Mid-Major to High Majors. At 6-foot-6, Tisby has shown he can play a primary guard role and serve off-ball as well as a swingman. The reigning Class 3A Player of the Year, whenever Cross Creek needed a bucket or a play to be made throughout the season, Tisby was there to deliver. He scored 14 of his 16 points after halftime to power the Razorbacks to their third state title, adding 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. His three with 3:54 left in regulation gave Cross Creek their first lead since midway through the third quarter. Tisby’s jack of all trades skill set makes him dynamic on both sides of the ball with his length and athleticism playing a big role.

2028 6-2 PG TJ Woodson – Carver-Columbus
A D-I football recruit, Woodson is also a catalyst on the hardwood as an athletic guard with a knack for making plays. TJ creates off the bounce to get to mid-range jumpers and threes. When he plants his foot, he is able to explode downhill to the rim where he has no issues absorbing contact to finish. Active in the press, Woodson shows off his wide receiver ball skills as he picks off errant passes. TJ averaged 17 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.9 steals last season. The Tigers will lean on him heavily, a team expected to have no seniors on the roster.

2028 6-2 G De’Quayvian Lovette – Burke County
The All-State guard is wired to score. Lovette is a high-octane combo-guard who thrives off the ball as a catch-and-shoot floor spacer with the craftiness to get to the hoop. Lovette upped his numbers after winning Class 2A Freshman of the Year from 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals to 21 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game. De’Quayvian gets good elevation on his pull-ups and has the body control and strength to finish at the rim. His slick scoring ability could land him on college radars sooner rather than later especially if he can carry Burke County on a deep playoff run.

2027 6-3 G De’Cori Fleming – Butler
D-I schools are starting to get involved with De’Cori Fleming as Alabama State and Alcorn State offered in July. Fleming’s game continues to grow, a two-way difference maker with his poise. De’Cori has the versatility to play 1-3 with his on-ball duties expanding each season. Fleming is comfortable setting up the offense but can still find his points without forcing it. He’s got a quick first step to glide to the rim and has a steady mid-range game. What really stands out is his defensive prowess. Fleming is wiry and active, quick to breakup plays whether with a steal, deflection or block. De’Cori looks to build off a junior season which ended as a state runner-up averaging 14.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

2027 6-4 G Akil Robinson – KIPP Atlanta
Among the top stock risers in Georgia this summer, Akil Robinson has cemented himself as a D-I prospect, earning offers from Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech, Longwood, Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast and Nevada. Robinson is a blend of explosiveness and smooth flow. Akil peppers the mid-range with his pull-up jumper as he gets to his spots with a quick first step before elevating to finish. Speaking of elevating, Robinson’s a highlight waiting to happen when he assaults the rim, a high-flyer capable of catching lobs or punctuating drives himself. Akil seems ready to step into the limelight as a go-to guy for KIPP Atlanta after averaging 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals.

2027 6-8 W Galen Roberts – KIPP Atlanta
Tookie was named First Team All-State last season after posting 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Roberts has major athleticism on the perimeter with length and a versatile skill set. Galen can take over games when he’s aggressive. He snatches rebounds off the rim and erupts off the ground for slams. His wingspan and footspeed make him a nuisance of a defender, especially on the perimeter with how he can flash into passing lanes for steals. Roberts has a high ceiling, a talented three-level scorer who hit 59 threes at a 40% rate as a junior. Arkansas State offered in June.

2027 6-6 PF MJ McWhorter – Therrell
Since his freshman season, Morion McWhorter has been one of the most productive big men in all of Georgia. He averaged 10.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in Year 1, 14 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2 blocks in Year 2 and 17.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a junior. MJ dominates around the rim with quick moves and a soft scoring touch. His physicality, aggressiveness and overall tenacity allow him to outwork the opposition and play even bigger than his height. McWhorter’s deft foot work when facing up and growing range on his jump shot should help raise his stock.

2030 5-11 PG Daemeon Holmes – Cedar Grove
The incoming freshman has had a statement offseason thus far, shining in the Cedar Grove backcourt as a deadly three-point shooter with shifty wiggle downhill. Holmes looks like a freshman but doesn’t play like one. With his deep range off the bounce and off the catch, he immediately draws attention. When teams try to extend their defense or put length on him, Daemeon is adept at blowing by to set up his teardrop floater. Holmes averaged 19.3 points per game at GBCA Live, shooting 53.8% from beyond the arc.

2029 6-3 PG Amare Medhin – Redan
The reigning Class 2A Freshman of the Year is playing his way onto D-I radars, earning Best Scorer and Best Shooter accolades upon averaging 21.6 points, 4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.3 steals. The long-armed guard is a smooth three-level scorer. He nailed 97 threes at a 44% rate while sinking 85% of his 218 free throw attempts. Amare makes plays for others and has upside to become a disruptive defender. His ability to score efficiently while getting his shots within the flow of the offense is impressive.

2027 5-11 G Kurston Curry – Hart County
A stock riser on the football field, Curry is a highlight waiting to happen on the hardwood. Kurston brings end-to-end effort, aggressive in the full court press as he turns over opponents. Curry explodes toward the rim to finish through fouls. He’s a crafty finisher with both hands as he hangs in the air. That same springiness is utilized when getting lift on his step-back jumpers as he gets exceptional separation. Coming off an Honorable Mention All-State Selection, Curry is on the hunt to win his second Region Player of the Year award after winning as a sophomore back in 2025.
