2029 5-5 G Ava Frankel – Roswell
Roswell has been one of the most improved teams in the league. The Hornets picked up their second victory of the season on Sunday, shutting down Woodstock 33-21.
It was one of the few weekends that Roswell had nearly a full roster which resulted in a balanced attack. Ava Frankel stood out with her energy in the backcourt. The sophomore is a good athlete capable of changing speeds and directions fluidly. The Hornets in general are more athletic than what they might look at first glance with Frankel being one of the key components who plays with aggression. She attacked off the dribble and was able to disrupt defensively as a pesky defender finishing with 6 points, 1 assist and 2 steals.
2027 5-11 F Giovanna Ortega – Roswell
Giovanna flashed some interesting stretch big skills against Woodstock, draining a pair of threes while making a difference in the paint. Ortega posted 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks. With quality size and shooting touch, Giovanna could be a sleeper prospect her senior season if she continues to produce both inside and out.
2027 5-6 G Georgia Gracy – Heritage-Catoosa
Battling allergies, Georgia Gracy left the ranch and booted up for basketball to supply the defending state champs with a game-high 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block in a 28-26 win over Alexander. Gracy’s calming veteran presence saw her handle vs. pressure. She packed a scoring punch as she finished with both hands in the paint. Gracy dropped in a floater and netted a straightaway three. Her toughness shone through on the glass. Never known to back down from competition, Gracy locked up defensively on the perimeter.
2030 5-10 F Tyniyah Ross – Alexander
Part of a strong freshman nucleus, Tyniyah Ross brings size and interior effectiveness for the Cougars. With Nimah Ibidunni coaching on the bench, Ross got key minutes as Alexander’s centerpiece down low. Tyniyah recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in a two-point loss to Heritage-Catoosa. Ross was a load to contend with, drawing fouls constantly as she shot 4-9 from the free throw line, including converting two And-1s through contact. Tyniyah will play an important role this season for the Cougars and should be an anchor inside over her next four years.
2030 6-2 C Harper Mammola – Northview
Northview remained unblemished with a 37-21 win over a scrappy Hiram group. Harper Mammola looked good in the paint tallying 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks. The balanced stat line impresses but digging deeper is even more eye-catching as Harper ran the floor for two hoops, sank a baseline jumper and finished with a strong drop step. Mammola has stout physicality and knows how to use it. Her mobility and fluidity seem to be improving as does her confidence. Harper looks like a double-double threat with long-term upside.
2030 5-3 PG Londyn Richardson – Hiram
Londyn led an energized Hiram team against Northview, fighting tooth and nail until the final buzzer. The freshman buzzed around the floor making splashy plays with her athleticism. Richardson totaled 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in the 37-21 defeat. Londyn scored on an And-1 drive and later added in a floater. Only 5-foot-3, Richardson’s bounce was on full display as she soared for rebounds and even swatted away shots. Londyn’s tempo and mindset will make a major impact in Year 1 for a sneaky good Hiram team.
