Mackenzie Slater2028 5-10 W Mackenzie Slater – Woodstock
In a narrow 44-40 loss to Milton, Mackenzie Slater had a breakout performance. The tough-nosed wing flashed why Anderson offered last year as not only did she make an impact doing the dirty work, she produced offensively at a high level. Slater racked up 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, hitting a pair of corner threes, a baseline jumper and twice scoring in transition, once with her left hand and the other coming off a steal. Slater got to the foul line shooting 3-6. Mackenzie is a reliable competitor who embraces physical play. She has above average skills on offense but must remain aggressive. Slater has all the tools in place to stamp herself as one of the better two-way players in Cherokee County. If she can remain consistent as a scoring threat, her stock could elevate rapidly while raising Woodstock’s ceiling as one of the state’s more improved teams and a scary lower seed if they are able to scratch their way into the postseason.

Lyla Sanderson
2028 5-7 G Lyla Sanderson – Woodstock
Lyla continues to add more dimensions to her game. Last season the high academic guard exploded to average 10.5 points per game while sinking 62 threes at a 34% rate after averaging 1.2 points as a freshman. This offseason, Sanderson has become much more dynamic, more than just a catch-and-shoot specialist. 182 of Lyla’s 263 shots last year came from beyond the arc but scouting reports will need to be adjusted as her off the dribble game has become a prominent weapon. Sanderson sank two threes against Milton but it was her crafty downhill attack that put defenders in a blender as she spun her way to the rim for difficult scooping layups. Lyla combatted Milton’s pressure, collecting 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in a tight back-and-forth contest. Sanderson’s growth with the ball in her hands is a positive sign and likely was a factor in her earning an offer from Auburn Montgomery in July.

Deyva Davis2027 5-8 PG Deyva Davis – Milton
The Longwood-commit tallied 21 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in a 44-40 win over Woodstock and was nowhere near her best – a true testament of just how good she is. The game-breaking speed merchant took over in the second half scoring 14 of the Eagles’ 26 points to erase a 24-18 halftime deficit. Deyva could have had an even bigger game if shots were falling at the foul line as both Milton and Woodstock combined to shoot 12-30, Davis going 4-14. Even with her struggles at the line, the star guard didn’t let it phase other areas of her game and was successfully able to lead her team past a plucky pack of Wolverines.

Carly Bass2027 6-0 G Carly Bass – Sequoyah
With the game on the line, tied 33-33 late against unbeaten Northview, Wofford-commit Carly Bass delivered the go-ahead three-pointer and another subsequent dagger from deep to propel the Chiefs to a 39-33 victory. Carly stroked four threes finishing with a team-high 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Sequoyah methodically worked the ball around against the Northview zone during lengthy possessions waiting for it to get to its final destination: Bass’ hands.  The sharpshooter has heated up lately with 21 points last week in a tight win over Milton. When the stakes are at their highest, Carly is at her best.

2028 5-9 W Sunshine Davenport – Heritage-Catoosa
I really like what Sunshine brings to the table for Heritage. While she may not be a full 32-minutes a game player, when Davenport is on the floor she is effective. Sunny is rangy with her lengthy wingspan, able to alter shots up close and earn deflections and steals when guarding on the perimeter. The lefty swished a three and netted a mid-range jumper in a loss to the Lions, recording 10 points, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks. If Davenport wants to pursue basketball at the next level, I think she has enough knowledge and positional versatility to pique the interest of small schools especially with two more years to develop.

Emily Green2031 6-0 F Emily Green – Lions
The eighth grader was at her best on Sunday, dumping in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 block in a 64-30 win against Heritage-Catoosa. Emily once again showcased her beautiful shooting touch sinking a three, a mid-range jumper and two short shots. With her size, mobility, offensive versatility and instinctual defending, Green already would be an impact maker at the varsity level. The state of Georgia will be hearing a lot more about Emily over the next five years. She’s got a chance to be among the best long-term prospects in the 2031 class and already is on college radars with a Shorter offer.
