Statewide Recap 1-2-18

BOYS

Class AAAAAAA

No. 6 Mountain View 67, Mt. Bethel 53: Naheim Alleyne led Mountain View with 20 points, followed by Jalen Hayes with 16, Spencer Rodgers with 15, and Miles Long with 8 at the Big South Shootout. Mt. Bethel was led by Jaquez Gilbert’s five three-pointers and 22 points.

No. 8 Wheeler 59, Duluth 57: Duluth surged late in the second half but it wasn’t enough as EJ Montgomery was fed the ball in the paint and slammed it home to give Wheeler the lead with 1.7 seconds remaining in the game at the Big South Shootout. EJ Montgomery scored 24 and Austin Johnson had 20 of his own for Wheeler. Christian Kelly scored 18 points and Adam Flagler added 17 points for Duluth.

No. 10 Meadowcreek 60, Lincoln (FL) 53: At the Big South Shootout, Jamir Chaplin led Meadowcreek in the winning effort, with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Emmanuel Collier went 4-for-5 from behind the arc to add 12 points, while Kedrick Green led Meadowcreek with 6 assists to bolster his 9 points on the day.

East Coweta 55, Milton 51: Fernandez Jones led East Coweta with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Chris Youngblood contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals while Brandon Stroud added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in a solid AAAAAAA win for East Coweta at the Big South Shootout.

Class AAAAAA

No. 5 Gainesville 94, 5ANo. 2 Warner Robins 81: Jabo Bledson shoots 67% from the field (14-of-21) to lead Gainesville with 39 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kejuan Hale added 16 points, Jarred Rosser 15 points, and KJ Buffen 14 points. Warner Robins was led by Jacolbey Owens’s 23 points and Nelson Phillips’s 10 points at the Big South Shootout.

No. 6 Dacula 82, North Clayton 60: Brenden Tucker scored 21 points, 19 of which came in the second half. Quincy Ademokoya dropped 19 points, while Arusha Hunter had 14 points for the Falcons in the Big South Shootout. Xavier Valley led all scorers with 22 points, and Joseph Wimbley added 15 points for North Clayton.

Cass 54, Woodland-Cartersville 29: Carter Hedden led Cass with 14 points, while Justice Hayes had 12 points. Jaylen Ballard led Woodland with 9 points.

Class AAAAA

Paulding County 102, East Paulding 79: Tyron Summerour had 23 points and  9 rebounds, Elijah Brown had 12 points, and KJ Shade had 11 points and 5 rebounds. Kevin Brown’s 11 points, Mike Seymour 10 points, and Jalen Sowells 10 points round out the double-digits scorers for Paulding County’s offensive showcase.

Class AAAA

No. 3 Sandy Creek 76, 5ANo. 10 McIntosh 53: TJ Bickerstaff led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Xavier Brewer had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks; Jared Godfrey had 12 points and 5 rebounds, and Kam Miller stuffed the stat sheet with 4 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals for Sandy Creek. Chaz Hardin led McIntosh with 17 points and 4 rebounds, Cole Guenther had 8 points, and Bruce Carpenter had 6 points.

No. 4 Mary Persons 88, Veterans 48: Tre Edge led the scoring with 24 points, while Cam Holden recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Dee Morton added 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Desmond Williams added another 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Troup County 69, Chapel Hill 35: Jay Jefferson had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the first half. Tristan Ware, King Mwikuita, and Andy Boykin had 8 points and a few rebounds apiece.  

Class AAA

No. 1 Morgan County 67, Franklin County 37: Tyrin Lawrence had 25 points and Alec Woodard scored 16 points in the win for Morgan County.

No. 5 GAC 82, Lumpkin County 22: Junior Hunter McIntosh scored 26 points to get him over the 1000-career point mark in the beatdown of Lumpkin County.

No. 6 Westside-Macon 60, Southwest-Macon 53: Westside-Macon was able to take care of business without Khavon Moore behind the 24 points and 11 rebounds of Greg Holloway and 14 points and 9 rebounds of Omar Jones.

No. 9 Central-Macon 67, Pike County 41: Kylan Hill led Central-Macon with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.

East Jackson 73, Hart County 56: Kobe Haley led East Jackson with 22 points, Xavier Clark had 21 points, Makayl Rakestraw scored 15 points.

Long County 79, 2ANo. 8 Jeff Davis 56: Henry Blair led all scorers with 32 points, Terry Smith scored and even 10, and Stephan Hugley and Cristian Bass both contributed 9 points for Long County.

Class AA

No. 4 Banks County 81, Social Circle 63: Carl Cleveland and Dylan Orr led Banks County with 23 points apiece, the latter of whom also added 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Darrius Bonds (12 points, 12 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) and Gabe Martin (12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) also had solid nights to help Banks County stay unbeaten in the region.

No. 9 Elbert County 54, Putnam County 42: AJ James and Ty Hill led the charge for Elbert with 20 and 13 points, respectively.

Monticello 74, Oglethorpe County 61: Ashton Bonner accounted for more than half of Monticello’s points with 41 on the night. Malik Crawford added 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Northeast-Macon 57, Dodge County 54: DeMarcus Caines accounted for 29 of Dodge County’s points in the losing effort, followed by Nick Cummings’s 10 points and RJ Carr’s 5 points.

Class A-Private

No. 2 Aquinas 57, Creekside 47: DaJuan Hill led Aquinas with a 13-11 double-double, while Trent Bowdre added 11 points and 6 assists.

Walker 40, No. 4 King’s Ridge 35: Drew Miller led Walker with 15 points, Omar Cooper scored 10 points, and Burke Chebuhar scored 8 points.

Lakeview Academy 80, Hebron Christian 54: Blake McIntyre led Lakeview with 25 points and 8 rebounds, Adam Cottrell had 15 points and 5 assists, and Evan Pitts added an even 10 points.  

Class A-Public

No. 1 Central-Talbotton 64, Hawkinsville 52: Javares Copeland scored 21 points, ZyTavian Hill scored 17 points, and JaQuavius Smith had 12 points for Central-Talbotton.

No. 2 Manchester 71, Taylor County 45: Jah’Nile Hill had 19 points and 7 assists while Kalil Brawner had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals in the win for Manchester.

No. 2 Lovejoy 55, 5ANo. 1 Buford 49: Lovejoy continues its streak of impressive play topping AAAAA favorite Buford behind Genesis Bryant’s 20 points and Anaya Boyd’s 15 points and 7 rebounds.

Cass 60, Woodland 24: Lyric Curtis led for Cass with 10 points, while the trio of Kyla Michienzi, Aaliyah Curtis, and Alexis Ware each had 9 points in the win.

LaGrange 48, Central-Carrollton 44 OT: LaGrange opens up region play with a victory over the Central-Carrollton Lions. The Lions were led by the 17 points and 8 rebounds of Haley Fehring and Teonna Thomasson’s 10 points.

Sandy Creek 43, McIntosh 38: Da’ja Powell dominated the stat sheet with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Paris Thompson helped the winning effort with 11 points, 7 steals, and 2 blocks. Rylee Calhoun led McIntosh with 19 points while Kennedi Miller dropped 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Class AAA

No. 5 Central Macon 68, Pike County 25: The Lady Chargers kicked off 2018 the right way led by Jada Clowers’s 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Central Macon had three other players in double digits: ReNesha Goolsby (15 points), JeNya Wilder (14 points, 6 rebounds), and Nakayia Greene (10 points, 5 rebounds).

No. 7 Haralson County 72, Spring Garden (AL) 50: Alexis Boykin led the Lady Rebels with 20 points, while Indiya Smith and Claire Robinson each chipped in 17 points in the victory.

No. 8 Hart County 58, East Jackson 37: Torrion Starks led Hart County with 26 points, Taniya Alexander scored 12 points, and Shakendra Grove had 11 points. Marissa Thomas led East Jackson with 16 points.

Class AA

Elbert County 54, No. 2 Putnam County 52: Niya Shumaker scored 21 points, Miya Turman had 15 points, and Maggie Campbell scored 7 in the upset win for Elbert County.

No. 4 Rabun County 75, Stephens County 55: Georgia Stockton scored 26 points and 7 rebounds, Hanna Cannon had 10 points, and Destiny Deetz was a point shy of a double-double with 9 points and 12 boards for Rabun County. Tykia Thompson scored 10 points and Tiana Teasley scored 9 points for Stephens County in the loss.

No. 6 Josey 54, Westside 43: Ebony Clark led Josey with 16 points, and Deajah Houck contributed 12 points to the winning effort.

No. 8 Banks County 80, Social Circle 34: Jaycie Bowen led the Lady Leopards with 20 points, Maddie Thomas scored 15 points, Allison Smith had 15 points, and Amber Williams had 9 points.

Class A-Private

No. 7 Prince Avenue Christian 59, Athens Christian 42: The Lady Wolverines had three scorers in double digits: Madison Britt (15 points), Ansley Hall (14 points), and Janie Henderson (11 points).

Lakeview Academy 59, Hebron Christian 34: Sadie Thrailkill scored 18 for Lakeview, followed closely by teammates Savanna Kinsey (11) and Maddie Towles (10).

Class A-Public

No. 1 Telfair County 74, Clinch County 61: India Wells exploded for 27 points, while Brandy Mackey scored 13 points, NyAsia Howard had 9, and Shalan Nelson scored 8 points in the win for Telfair.

No. 10 Athens Academy 36, George Walton Academy 30: Freshman Rose Bone dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Greer Moseley contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds.

No. 5 Gainesville 81, Cedar Shoals 67: KaJuan Hale scored a team-high 15 points for the Red Elephants. Bailey Minor scored 12 points while Xavier Bledson scored 12 points and added 6 assists. Jarred Rosser (9), Jarrel Rosser (8) and Maurice Hector (8) all pitched in offensively. Cedar Shoals was led by Tyler Johnson’s 15 points and 5 rebounds. Quincy Canty scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Jaiden Williams tacked on 12 points.

No. 6 Jonesboro 53, Heritage-Conyers 52: Jamari Mosley hit a free throw with 3.2 seconds left to slip past the Patriots. Mosley finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Jamari Smith collected 14 points and 10 rebounds. Quinn Thomas hit 4 threes off the bench. Meco Lucas added 4 points and 7 rebounds.

No. 7 Douglas County 71, Mays 55: Malik Battle scored 22 points, Cam Copeland 18 and Rickey Clark 12 in the Region 5 victory.

Loganville 60, Griffin 44: Jamar Moore had 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals and 3 blocks in the win.

Paulding County 64, South Paulding 57: Tyron Summerour netted 17 points to pace the Patriots. Keon Sedgewick had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Brown chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Elijah Brown finished with 6 points and 9 rebounds.

Villa Rica 52, Cedartown 29: Phillip Zachery scored 12 points for the Wildcats. Javonte Hart, Elijah Fluker and Latrell Swanigan all scored 10 points apiece.

Lithia Springs 53, Soddy Daisy (TN) 49: Omarion Smith led the way with 13 points.

No. 4 Mary Persons 75, Westminster 65: Cam Holden poured in 25 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks. Tre Edge added 21 points and 5 rebounds. Desmond Williams scored 12 and Tre Slaten tossed in 8 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

LaFayette 66, Coahulla Creek 60: Dee Southern netted 16 points. Rylan Russell hit five threes en route to 15 points. Alex Kelehear (13), Andrew Pendergrass (11) and Jon Morgan (10) all cracked double figures.

Woodward Academy 56, Fayette County 53: Kevin Powell scored 12 points followed by Spencer Felix (11), Walker Kessler (11) and JaCorrei Turner’s 10 in the win. Ricky Knight netted a game-high 18 in the loss. JaKobe Coleman had 11.

Henry County 54, KIPP Academy 41: DeAndre Rice tallied 13 points and 8 rebounds. Casey Armour netted 11.

Shaw 71, Hardaway 41: Lincoln Smith produced 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Jalen Ken notched 12 points.

GISATrinity Christian 62, No. 5 GAC 57: The Lions rallied from down 16 points to beat the Spartans. Jamir Williams had 25 points and 10 rebounds while Brady Burnett added 11 points.

No. 9 Monroe Area 63, Marist 53: Isaiah Glasper scored 15 points and Dabarius Partee added 12 in the win. Devin Sheets collected 11 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Goodman scored 9 points while Quontarius Lackey and Michael Gray each added 8.

No. 10 Dawson County 58, West Hall 49 OT: Campbell Reed drilled 7 threes and finished with 31 points as the Tigers got the win in their fourth game in five days. Cullen Reed added 12 points while Ryan Gallenkamp grabbed 15 rebounds; Trey Pruitt snatched 7 boards. Noah Edmondson scored 20 and Dee Buffington added 15 in the loss.

Adairsville 60, Cass 50: Mason Bowell finished with 17 points including 5 threes to stun the Colonels. Cody Henderson (14), Ethan Belcher (13) and Hunter Hice (11) all came up big. Mark Chester netted 14 points and Ashton Burley had 13 in the loss.

Maplewood (TN) 67, Lovett 64: Crawford Schwieger had 24 points and Lance Beck scored 20 in the loss.

Union County 59, Gilmer 30: Pierson Allison put up 19 points while Sawyer Drake (12) and Patrick Baggett (11) both came up big.

No. 2 Banks County 66, Monticello 61: Dylan Orr dumped in 28 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 blocks as the Hurricanes had no answer inside. Carl Cleveland scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Gabe Martin netted 16 points. Darius Bonds collected 2 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists.

Dodge County 67, Wayne County 48: Nick Cummings scored 25 points and RJ Carr dropped in 21. Marcus Caines pitched in 12 in the win.

Lamar County 66, Mt. de Sales 54: Quay Parks led the way with 20 points. Rondez Fletcher and Josiah Stewart scored 14 apiece.

Elbert County 65, Social Circle 25: Kobe Goudelock had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win,

Class A-Private

GISAMt. Bethel Christian 55, No. 4 Wesleyan 46: Jordan Meka scored 23 points inside while Staney Eze added 15 in the Eagles victory. Christian McLean fouled out with 6:30 remaining in the game for Wesleyan. He netted 13 to lead the Wolves.

Stratford Academy 76, Hawkinsville 69: The Eagles struggled to put away Hawkinsville. Devin Butts finished with 28 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Nathan Hunt scored 24 and Jaden Harris added 7.

Class A-Public

No. 2 Woodville-Tompkins 76, McIntosh County Academy 50: Deante Green led all scorers with 17 points. Preston Crisp had 15 points and AJ Hassel netted 15.

Bowdon 79, North Murray 73: Zach Ledbetter dropped in 24 points and Christ Parker added 21 in the win. Scott Cunningham chipped in 16.

Green County 79, Prince Avenue Christian 61: DJ Wright tallied 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.

No. 5 Cherokee 61, Marietta 49: Sydne Watts posted 18 points. Olivia Herrera and Kate Johnson scored 10 apiece. Lacie McCoy netted 8.

Rockdale County 55, McNair 39: Kourtlan Carter posted 19 points to pace the Lady Bulldogs.

Class AAAAAA

Pope 49, North Atlanta 29:  Abby McKinley and Talia Cloud led the Lady Greyhounds with 13 points apiece.

No. 2 Flowery Branch 49, Edison (VA) 46: Down at the KSA Tournament in Orlando, the Lady Falcons received 13 points from Caroline Wysocki and 12 from Taniyah Worth in the win. Lexie Sengkhammee and Ashlee Locke scored 8 apiece.

No. 4 Harris County 68, Fayette County 59: At the Crescom Bank Holiday Invitational, Mississippi State-signee Jessika Carter poured in 16 points, 19 rebounds and 3 blocks. Taziaha Fanning posted 19 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks inside while Ny’Azjha Carter put up 15 points and 7 rebounds. Fayette County was led by Maegan Barkley’s 12 points and 4 assists. Rikkelle Miller had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Naomi Franco had 8 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks.

No. 6 Villa Rica 70, Cedartown 35: Deasia Merrill finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 steals. Kyndal Coleman went for 15 points and 3 assists while Aliyah Hindsman put up 13 points and 4 steals. Jaila Orozco had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

No. 7 Maynard Jackson 67, Whitewater 36: Tamaria White scored 21 points and Jamilah Mitchell added 12.

Cass 58, Adairsville 34: Kyla Michienzi led the Lady Colonels with 14 points while Payon Stoddard added 13. Amber Brittian scored 9 points followed by Aaliyah Curtis (7) and Alexis Ware (6).

No. 10 Jefferson 60, Columbia 20: Livi Blackstock finished with 14 points followed by Mariah Starks’ 13 and Jazmin Allen’s 12.

Sonoraville 56, Pepperell 41: Maliyah Parks and Alexa Geary had 12 apiece in the Lady Phoenix win. Sandi McMullin chipped in 11 points and Harleigh Chastain, Grace Darnell and Abby Chambers each scored 7. Pepperell was led by Kaylee Mansell’s 20 points.

Union County 68, Gilmer 61: Bailey Daniel pumped in 19 points while Brooke Dockery and Kait McCarter added 17 apiece.

No. 5 Putnam County 82, No. 2 Rabun County 53: Jashanti Simmons dropped 25 points, Hailey Hyman had 22 and Rykia Pennamon netted 18 in the massive statement game for the Eagles. Georgia Stockton scored a career-high 38 in the loss.

No. 6 Banks County 62, Monticello 37: Allison Smith scored 20 points and Jaycie Bowen added 16 in the Region 8 win. Amber Williams and Morgan Lyons each scored 6 points.

No. 7 Dodge County 52, Wayne County 51: The Squaws rallied in the fourth quarter to stun Wayne County, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 32-11 in the fourth. Zanessia Mitchell scored 14 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter. Destanee Wright had 12 points, 10 coming in the final quarter. Europe Brown finished with 11 points.

Rockmart 69, Mt. Zion-Carrollton 23: Freshman Keyarah Berry hung 26 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Cambree Stanley added 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Madison Davis collected 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Bryan County 49, Long County 31: Olonna Rawls pumped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Jay Black added 9 points and 11 rebounds. Kelsey Leggett scored 8 points as did Alicia Fabin.

Class A-Private

No. 2 Wesleyan 96, Miller Grove 40: AC Carter tallied 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Amaya Register pitched in 18 points and 5 assists. Alyssa Phillip scored 12 points and Sutton West finished with 11 points and 7 steals.

Athens Academy 54, Oglethorpe County 22: Gabby Mastandrea posted 11 points followed by Maddie McCleary’s 10 and Greer Moseley’s 9. Reagan Hatch had 6 points and 7 rebounds while Rose Bone collected 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Prince Avenue Christian 40, Greene County 30: Madison Britt scored 16 points to pace the Lady Wolverines. Ansley Hall and Janie Henderson added 10 apiece.

Class A-Public

No. 1 Telfair County 86, Treutlen 26: India Wells (23), NyAsia Howard (20), Tanajawa Graham (20) and Brandy Mackey (10) led an overwhelming attack for the Lady Trojans.

No. 1 McEachern 82, No. 8 Duluth 66: The Wildcats ran out of gas and the three balls stopped dropping as the Indians turned a 51-47 advantage after three into a 16-point win. Isaac Okoro finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Sharife Cooper netted 26 points to go with his 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Babatunde Akingbola had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 6 blocks. Jared Jones added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal. The Wildcats hit 8 threes. Adam Flagler posted 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Will Huzzie tacked on 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Lamont Smith had 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in the loss.

Lakeside-DeKalb 56, No. 2 Norcross 55 OT: In the upset of the year, the Vikings stunned Norcross with a late Damon Davis three. Davis finished with 17 points.

Pebblebrook 71, No. 3 Wheeler 68: Grant Howard dropped 25 points and Canisius-signee Mervin James added 17 points in the Eagle win. DJ Murray chipped in 12 points. The Wildcats were led by EJ Montgomery’s 20 points and Isaac Martin’s 18. Tennessee State-signee Austin Johnson had 12 points and 5 rebounds while Brandon Younger scored 11.

No. 7 Mountain View 66, No. 4 Newton 65 OT: Kevin Kayongo knocked down a three to stun the Rams at the buzzer. In the loss Ashton Hagans finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Armani Harris had 16 points and 4 rebounds while Dre Butler chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Etowah 49, No. 9 Peachtree Ridge 46: The Eagles soared to 8-1 as they upset the Lions, handing Peachtree Ridge their first loss of the season. Adrian Cohen totaled 16 points and 5 rebounds. Jaxon Etter had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Julian Baldwin put up 9 points and 8 rebounds. Nick Nagy netted 9 points. Carter Ingersoll gobbled up 15 rebounds. Florida State-signee Devin Vassell was held to 11 points.

No. 10 Collins Hill 78, Forestview (NC) 48: Mandarius Dickerson netted 19 points and Justin Lee chipped in 16. Chris Parks scored 14 points and Alec Oglesby tacked on 11 points. Forestview was led by Darian Anderson’s 14 points and Logan Botts and Jalen Baldwin’s 10 apiece.

GICAAMt. Bethel Christian 61, Berkmar 52: Jaquez Gilbert scored 17 points for the Eagles while Tony Johnson had 15 for the Patriots. Stanley Eze was named MVP for Mt. Bethel.

Discovery 71, South Gwinnett 58: Jaylen Bussey netted 19 points to power the Titans. Jaden Walker had 11 points and 5 assists. London Riley scored 12 points.

Hoover (AL) 62, Kennesaw Mountain 53: Clemson-commit Trey Jemison was named game MVP with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks for the Buccaneers. Jamari Blackmon had 24 points and 6 rebounds. Marion Humphrey finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Josh Strong led the Mustangs with 20 points and 3 steals. Jalyn McCreary added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Jordan Barnes tallied 8 points and 6 assists.

Etowah 62, Sequoyah 44: The Etowah Eagles (7-1) jumped out to an 11-2 lead on the sophomore laden Sequoyah Chiefs (1-7) at the Hickory Flat War Lodge and coasted to a 62-44 victory. Junior Jaxon Etter scored 5 first quarter points and was assisted by solid play off the bench by forward Colby Milton to take an 18-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second frame steady point guard Nick Nagy added 5 points and 3 assists as he got open looks for Etter and 6-foot-7 center Julian Baldwin. The Eagles put the clamps on Chiefs scoring ace Jackson Greco holding him to zero field goals and 6 points in the first half. Sequoyah was led by junior DJ  King with 8 points and 3 rebounds. For Etowah, Etter had 10 first half points while Nagy had 8 points and 3 assists as they raced out to a 30-22 lead at the half. King opened the third stanza with a three to cut the lead to five, but a Nagy three and steal for a layup pushed the score up to 41-27 at the 3:45 mark. Tusculumi-signee Adrian Cohen closed the frame 51-34 with a steal and breakaway dunk. Carter Ingersoll after a quiet first half chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds in the quarter. Stephenson 54, No. 9 Tucker 40: Bryce Latimer poured in 32 points including 11 in the final 4:28 as the Jaguars outscored the Tigers 25-12 in the fourth quarter.  Latimer went 7-of-8 from the foul line in a 15 second span after two technicals on Tucker with 2:18 left iced the game. LaFayette 83, Gilmer 52: The Ramblers trounced the Bobcats after opening up with a 50-15 halftime lead. Alex Kelehear netted 34 points including 8 three-pointers. Jon Morgan put in 18 points.

Heritage-Catoosa 78, Pickens 61: Hunter Hermann, Chase Simmons and Joseph Gossett all scored 11 points in the loss.

No. 6 Calhoun 50, North Murray 38: The Yellow Jackets finally opened their season after winning the state title in football before the snow postponements. Fresh off the football field, Davis Allen finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 blocks. Chase Goble scored 13 points and blocked two shots while Kaylan Aker netted 10 points and 6 rebounds and Porter Law chipped in 6 points and 8 assists. Waylyn James paced the Mountaineers with 14 points.

No. 1 Glenn Hills 62, Laney 61: The Spartans rallied past the Wildcats to send a statement to the rest of the CSRA. Tim Williamson had 14 points followed by John Whitehead’s 13. Timmy Sellers and Jeffrey Cabarrus added 9 apiece while Eric Farmer scored 8 points and Isaiah Bauman netted 6. Laney was led by D’Juan Griffin’s 21 points, Ronnie Walker’s 10 and Donald Henley’s 9.

No. 2 Banks County 71, Madison County 41: Carl Cleveland netted 22 points for the Leopards and added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Dylan Orr totaled 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Gabe Martin scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and 4 steals while Noah Rylee had 8 points. Darius Bonds collected 7 points, 7 assists and 5 steals while Dakota Orr pitched in 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Demetrius Headspeth collected 14 points and 9 rebounds. In the loss, Deshon “Squirt” Ashton had 14 points and 4 assists. Chris Dumas added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Javon Thornton tagged on 14 points and 3 steals for the Warriors.

Vidalia 62, No. 4 Jeff Davis 59: The Indians rode Tahj Jones’ 30 points to a huge Region 2 victory. Kirese Manley finished with 25 points in the loss for the Yellow Jackets. Chandler Davenport and Tae Thomas scored 10 apiece. Ja’Queze Kirby was held to 8 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks.

No. 10 Washington County 90, Southwest-Macon 30: The Golden Hawks laid down the hammer thanks to an offensive onslaught which saw eight players score seven or more points. Jamarius Dixon led with 13 points followed by Jawan Dukes’ 10 points and 8 rebounds. Ivory Williams and Jarden Maze each scored 9 points while Jalen Jackson and Curtis Brown netted 8. Josh Parker and Lazerionta Taylor chipped in 7 points apiece.

Lamar County 76, Pike County 52: Dallas Ogletree netted 19 points followed by David Daniel and Rondez Fletcher’s 11 apiece.

Washington 50, Hapeville Charter 45: Paul Byner (12), Davin Quinones (10) and Marquez Crews (8) couldn’t lead the Hornets to victory without leading scoring Jemaure Ezzard.

Dodge County 72,  West Laurens 69: Nick Cummings erupted for a career-high 44 points to lead the Indians. DeMarcus Caines added 10 and RJ Carr netted 7.

No. 1 St. Francis 93, SACA 32: Dwon Odom flirted with a triple-double finishing with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists in a dominant performance. Sam Hines had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. CJ Riley netted 14 points and dished out 3 assists. Chase Ellis contributed 12 points and 3 assists while Jai Smith tossed in 13 points. Caleb Snyder tallied 6 points and 3 assists.

No. 3 ELCA 77, No. 8 King’s Ridge 54: Malachi Rhodes went off for 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in the Charger win. Trevon Reddish added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamaine Mann posted 12 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. KJ Jones tagged on 10 points.

Whitefield Academy 54, No. 10 Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 46: The Mustangs struggled on the road going 10-of-34 from the foul line to seal their fate. Tahj Keeton finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds in the loss. Marques Frye had 11 points.

Darlington 54, Trion 52: JD Hull led the Tigers with 19 points while Barrick Wade sank a late three-pointer to seal the Tiger win.

Lakeview Academy 72, Athens Academy 61: Adam Cottrell had 19 points and 4 steals while brother Drew chipped in 14 points. Arturo Varela had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Jack Blackburn notched 9 points and 7 assists.

Mt. Paran 55, Providence Christian 33: Adam Doty scored 10 points in the loss.

No. 2 Central-Talbotton 75, Dooly County 68: The dynamic duo of Tayne Smith and ZyTavian Hill poured in 58 points combined to remain undefeated and hand the Bobcats their first loss. Smith finished with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Hill hung 29 points and 14 rebounds.  JarQuavius Brown powered Dooly County with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists while Rashad Lucas added 16 points and 7 rebounds and Zeff Felton grabbed 15 rebounds to go with his 9 points.

No. 4 Woodville-Tompkins 66, Claxton 32: Preston Crisp dropped in 20 points followed by Charleston Willingham’s 12.

Terrell County 82, Webster County 49: In the loss, Keundre Campbell pumped in 25 points for Webster County.

No. 8 North Forsyth 54, Chestatee 38: Catherine Shope netted 14 points for the Lady Raiders.

North Cobb 63, Blessed Trinity 40: Azonya Austin (20) and Sydney Solomon (12) combined for 32 points in the Lady Warrior win. Blessed Trinity was led by Erin Hynekamp’s 21 points and Katie Hynekamp’s 14.

Lassiter 39, Etowah 32: Wambui Chege put up a team-high 15 points for the Lady Trojans while Taylor Smith added 11 in the win.

No. 5 Northview 68, North Atlanta 21: Ashlee Austin eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier by scoring 20 points. Eden Sample netted 20 points while Asjah Inniss (10) and Jada Reidling (6) each chipped in.

No. 9 Tucker 48, No. 8 Stephenson 38: Kerrigan Johnson scored 14 points and Jasani Buchanan double-doubled with 12 points and 10 rebounds to power the Tigers past the Jaguars. Amariah Stanard added 10 rebounds. Stephenson was led by Sierra Wynn’s 12 points and 8 rebounds and Kassidy Broussard’s 10 points.

Lumpkin County 46, No. 7 Dawson County 39: With no Kaylee Sticker available, the Lady Tigers were unable to muster enough offense to avoid an upset. Calli Watson finished with 12 points on 4 three-pointers. Emma Brown had 7 points and Chloe Bennett scored 6.

Calhoun 49, No. 10 North Murray 44: The Yellow Jackets held off North Murray to knock the Mountaineers from the unbeatens. Anna George scored 13 points while Lyndi Rae Davis added 12 and Railey Greeson and Erin Davis netted 8 apiece. Raven Stone led North Murray with 20 in the loss. Calhoun held the Mountaineers to 17% shooting.

Sonoraville 63, Coahulla Creek 35: Freshman Alexa Geary pumped in 21 points for the Lady Phoenix.

Island 55, Groves 21: Elizabeth Sierzant scored 19 points to lead the Sharks. Diamond Garvin double-doubled with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Meara Kelly grabbed 12 rebounds.

Lakeview Academy 61, No. 9 Athens Academy 51: Mattie Towles netted 16 points while Maddie Blackburn scored 13 as the Lady Lions proved they are still the team to beat in Region 8.
