2022 6-3 SG Cayden Charles – SEBA FCI Warriors – Allatoona
Two-way players are invaluable. Cayden Charles impressed at CTC Comeback and did so again on Saturday. Charles showed flashes during his junior season at Allatoona as his role steadily increased. He’s a valuable on-ball defender equipped with long arms and quick reflexes. Charles routinely accepts the challenge of defending the other team’s best player and makes life difficult with his effort. Cayden is able to translate turnovers into fast break points. He uses a graceful glide to the basket and can finish when contested. Charles finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals vs. Pro One Select. In the second half, it was his outside shooting that stood out, hitting a pair of threes including a pull-up off the dribble. If Charles can consistently score from the perimeter, his stock will rise even higher. Expect a strong senior campaign out of the blossoming off-guard.
2022 6-6 F Josh Fulmore – Georgia Shock – SACA
Maybe the most physically imposing player I saw all week was Josh Fulmore of Southwest Atlanta Christian. The bruising forward averaged 13.7 points and 6 rebounds per game as SACA made a Sweet 16 appearance. Fulmore has a college-ready body that can bang inside and score in the paint. He can work the high post but also has range out to the three-point line. He sank two deep balls including the game-winner in a 58-57 win over the Hollywood Stars. Fulmore collected 17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 4 blocks. With his size and nice touch from the perimeter, Fulmore could be an interesting prospect to track. He has been listed as both a 2022 (roster packet) and a 2023 (MaxPreps). If by some chance he is only a rising junior, he could be one of the best sleepers in the class.
2021 6-5 F Marcell Harris – Georgia Shock – New Manchester
It was an impressive debut from Marcell Harris. New Manchester always has sneaky good talent that flies under the radar, loaded with athletes. Harris, an unsigned senior, looked good in my first viewing. He is long and wiry. Harris is a combo-forward that plays with a great motor. He was outstanding on the glass as he double-doubled with 20 points, 18 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocks. Harris works hard when crashing the boards and uses his length to get to balls. On offense, he scored on putbacks and short shots but also showed range, hitting a long jumper and knocking down a pair of threes. Harris was a strong defender with switchability, able to defend multiple positions whether it be on the perimeter or in the post. Harris never made a huge impact at New Manchester over the course of his career but the late bloomer could catch some small schools’ eyes with his activity around the rim.
2022 6-5 SG Nick Woodard – Team GA Magic – Taylor County
Nick Woodard continues to take steps in the right direction. The big guard has a good body and has improved his ball handling and agility. Woodard does a nice job using his strength to get to his spots and bump off any defenders that try to latch on. He has a good shot with consistent three-point range. He nailed three trifectas against Team Carroll but didn’t settle for the outside jumper and still managed to attack the rim. Woodard uses his size on the defensive end of the floor as a strong rebounder and quality defender. He can contest shots without fouling. Woodard put up 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
2024 5-10 PG Cam Perkins – Warner Robins All-Stars – Warner Robins
The rising sophomore has as good a feel of any 2024 point guard in Georgia. Cam Perkins made an immediate impact as a freshman at Warner Robins and has valuable experience heading into his next three seasons. He’s a true pass-first playmaker that is smart with the ball. There is a level of comfort when Perkins handles the rock. He rarely makes mistakes and plays within himself. When looking for his offense, Perkins can turn corners and finish with tear drops in the lane. His ability to handle pressure and distribute makes those around him better.
2021 6-7 F DeCameron Porter – SEBA FCI Warriors – LaFayette
DeCameron Porter has put up big numbers over the early half of the offseason. He’s an interesting prospect. Porter is long and gangly – sometimes looking a little too loose with his body – but it never is a negative factor on the floor. He is bouncy and can get downhill on drives to the hoop where he finishes above the rim. Porter has a funky looking shot that by no means is textbook, but it has to be honored as he can stretch out and hit the open three. Porter is an effective rebounder and shot blocker. His length and quick leaping allow him to impact games in the paint. What impressed me most was his passing on Saturday. He delivered pinpoint assists to cutting teammates. An area for growth could be Porter’s focus. He likes to celebrate after made baskets and was bickering with the referees too much in a 78-69 win, almost collecting a technical foul. Cutting out some of the extra stuff is the one thing I’d like to see moving forward. He posted 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks. Porter has a handful of D-III offers and could be a major addition at the right program.
