2027 5-4 PG Camya Hutcherson – Fam University – Lee County
Camya is really starting to make a name for herself and is beginning to spark debate as possibly being the best true point guard in South Georgia. After her performance at ATL SummerSlam, I would state the claim that Hutcherson might be one of the better 2027 point guards in all of Georgia. Camya does a lot well. Her motor is terrific, playing hard on both ends of the floor. She earns deflections atop the 1-3-1 zone, disruptive with her speed and fast-twitch reactions. Offensively, she’s a steady distributor with advanced court vision, but what really stands out most about her game is her jump shooting. Hutcherson is a legit knockdown shooter, quick to get to pull-ups in the mid-range but also incredibly accurate from beyond the arc. Camya drilled threes throughout the weekend, tipping off her sterling showing with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals with three three-pointers in a 55-36 win over Vision Elite. D-II programs should make it a point to evaluate Camya at some point this season.

2027 5-6 G Kacie Reeves – Fam University – Central-Macon
The game is starting to slow down for Kacie Reeves. In the few years I have been following her, I thought Reeves had her most impressive showing on Saturday as she compiled 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Reeves looked comfortable playing point guard. She made nice reads in the open floor, utilizing zippy two-handed pitch ahead passes for transition hoops. Kacie sank a corner three, scored on a spin move in transition and dropped in a floater but her most impressive basket came on a fastbreak where she caught the ball and immediately went behind the back before finishing an And-1 layup. The talent is there for Reeves to have strong upperclassman campaigns. She is starting to unlock her potential.
2027 5-9 PG Sofia Pihera – FBC NextUp – St. Pius X
Known for her terrific court vision, Pihera once again showed why she is one of the best passers in the state as she orchestrated FBC NextUp to a 3-1 showing, losing in the title game. Sofia’s outlet passing leads to transition buckets game in and game out. She loves to lead streaking teammates with long passes and when she’s in the halfcourt, Pihera excels at attacking downhill leaving her feet to deliver bullet assists. Her strength is a key factor as to how she is able to deliver such sharp passes that cut through the defense. Sofia racked up 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals against AEBL Gold before posting 7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in a win over OTP.
2027 5-9 SG Millie Pugmire – FBC NextUp – Athens Academy
When Millie’s jump shot is on, she can fill it up with the best of them. Pugmire, a wiry guard, is a streaky perimeter shooter with deep three-point range. In her first game of ATL SummerSlam, she struggled with her outside shot but provided effort on the glass, leading to a pair of putbacks, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Against OTP, Millie caught fire late in the first half with three quick threes. Pugmire would end up with 13 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals. Continuing to find ways to positively impact games when her shot isn’t falling is a key for Pugmire, something she proved she was able to accomplish this weekend. Pugmire’s length on defense is a plus. She is capable of defending 1-3. I expect college programs to start tracking Millie sooner rather than later.
2027 5-8 F Karlee Law – FBC NextUp – Jefferson
The bull in a china shop lefty was effective in the paint throughout the tournament as she consistently flirted with double-doubles. Undersized for the forward position, Law makes up for her lack of height with her strength and physicality. She exclusively goes to her left hand but her nose for the ball and quickness allow her to still be effective. In two games at ATL SummerSlam, Karlee averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1 block per game. She is an important piece for a new-look Jefferson team after quitting mid-game mid-season last year.
2027 6-0 C Sally Swann – FBC NextUp – Athens Academy
Sally flies under the radar in Georgia but she is one of the more appealing 2027 bigs in the state. Swann is starting to come into her own as a reliably serviceable post presence. Sally is sturdy with strength. She doesn’t need set plays called for her in order to positively influence games. Swann is an offensive putback threat, a consistent rebounder and a competent rim protector. Over two wins against AEBL Gold and OTP, Sally averaged 7 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

2027 5-7 PG Emily McMurray – Georgia Sting – Greenbrier
Emily might not immediately pass the eye-test with her svelte frame, but McMurray has a versatile skill set and isn’t afraid to play hard to make things happen. Emily has a pretty jump shot snapping her wrist and holding her follow through. She has three-point range but is also crafty with the ball, capable of taking defenders off the dribble to finish with either hand. McMurray scored thrice on left-handed drives and had a smooth pirouette scooping layup to ignite her scoring. When Emily gets downhill, she is able to create contact to get to the foul line. Defensively, McMurray helps force turnovers and has enough length from her guard position to make entry feeds and layup attempts challenging. Emily posted 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in a 56-48 loss to Tennessee Trotters Smith.
2027 5-10 F Alley McBride – Georgia Sting – Alleluia Community Christian
Tucked away in GAPPS, it was a huge opportunity for Alley to test her skill against quality competition. McBride did well against Tennessee Trotters Smith, sinking three three-pointers to finish with 9 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals. McBride has a sturdy frame that can bang inside and rebound, but most impressive obviously was her three-point shot. Alley is a legit stretch-forward with her perimeter game, perfect to be utilized in pick-and-pop settings. I could see Alley picking up D-III, NAIA or NCCAA interest this time next year. Her travel ball reps are crucial to help her prepare for the type of talent she would see in college. Alley is an interesting sleeper to track for small school programs.

2027 5-7 PG Jade Kitchens – Lady Empact – Washington County
D-II schools are starting to murmur about Jade Kitchens. In a come from behind 42-34 win over Academy Elite, Jade piled in 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Kitchens is athletic with wiry length in the backcourt. She takes her time probing the defense before deciding how to attack. Jade hit a three, a pull-up jumper, scored on a cut and had a floater for her four field goals. Kitchens has consistently shown over the course of her career the ability to fill up box scores with her well-rounded game.

2027 5-6 G Journey Waller – Lady Empact – Putnam County
It was a slow start against Academy Elite but Waller’s hustle eventually won out and wore on the opposition after scoring just one-point in the first half. Journey ended the day with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Her defensive intensity along the perimeter was paramount in shutting down Academy Elite, holding them to just 12 second half points as they got stuck on 34. Journey’s defense helped her offense as she got a transition hoop off a steal and then was able to penetrate and finish in the halfcourt for her other two hoops.
2027 6-2 F Suri Clark – Lady Empact – Baldwin
Suri is always impactful in the paint with her size and athleticism. She finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 1 steal against Academy Elite. Suri can dominate even more if she starts to attack the rim more often. Clark has propensity to try and score while faced up with short 7-foot fadeaway jumpers inside of taking a power dribble to try and finish toward the basket. While Clark has improving range on her jump shot and did hit a mid-range shot, she can sometimes make it harder that it needs to be when in the paint. In the first half, she caught the ball on the block and was decisive with a strong drop step baseline, a nearly unstoppable move at the high school level with her tools. Playing with a punishing mindset is key for Suri. She has all the skill and physical gifts to not only be one of the best bigs in Georgia but in the Southeast. Heading into her upperclassmen seasons, I think Clark will be able to clean up the minor details and reach her full potential as an elite double-double machine.
2027 5-11 F Sanai McKenzie-Watson – Academy Elite – Grovetown
I think D-II programs need to investigate Sanai McKenzie-Watson and watch her in person soon. Every time I watch her, I come away impressed with her combo-forward skill set. While she didn’t have a robust offensive stat line against Lady Empact in a 42-34 loss, what Sanai flashes when the ball is in her hands is unlike most forwards her age and size. McKenzie-Watson is an offensive mismatch. She attacks the basket with eurosteps, is strong downhill through contact and is able to score from the mid-range. Sanai rebounds in traffic with two hands at the ball’s apex and is a reliable rim protector. Good things happen when the ball is in her hands. Sanai recorded 6 points, 4 rebounds and 4 blocks, scoring on a pair of floaters and a drive. She locked horns with Suri Clark inside and did a great job challenging her. If you clipped McKenzie-Watson’s highlights from this weekend you would see a high-level college recruit. I am a huge believer in her game. If she is featured in the offense this year, I could see Sanai having a breakout season.
2027 5-3 PG Jamyia George – Britt Basketball Academy – Newnan
A double overtime sudden death thriller saw Jamyia George end the marathon affair, sinking a free throw to beat Team Passion 55-54. The lefty made a positive first impression with her speed and overall activity level. George does a great job slicing into the lane for floaters but also is a very good distributor who can squeeze in assists down low or to the corners for threes. Jamyia uses her low center of gravity to turn corners on defenders to get downhill. She did the little things well in the win, looking to block out whenever a shot went up. Defensively, she was a pest with her on-ball defense, able to knock loose steals and pick off passes. Jamyia poured in 16 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Though undersized, I think Jamyia could become an attractive prospect as she continues to work on her perimeter shooting range and right-hand finishes.
2027 5-7 SG Charm Husband – Britt Basketball Academy – Landmark Christian
Charm was the main beneficiary of Jamyia George’s playmaking, knocking down jumpers from the outside. Husband cashed in on three three-pointers from the corners and mixed in a pull-up jumper from the mid-range as she led all scorers with 19 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 4 steals. When Husband got to the foul line, she was able to convert shooting 4-5 including two clutch free throws in overtime. Charm will be a focal point moving forward for a rebuilding Landmark Christian team after leading the team in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 7.2 points, 3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game.
