2031 5-1 PG Alayna Lemon – Milton Fury – Milton
The best individual performance of the weekend came in the first game of the tournament. Playing up a grade, Alayna Lemon exploded for 29 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in a 48-47 loss to Redline Cody. Lemon was electric. Alayna scored from all three levels with an elusive handle, using hesitation moves and changing speeds to get to her spots. The shifty guard broke off eurosteps and finished with scoop layups to evade shot blockers while managing to still draw fouls, shooting 4-8 from the free throw line. She loved taking pull-up threes, the lefty with a compact release that resulted in three three-pointers. Alayna has all the makings to become one of Georgia’s best in the 2031 class.

2031 4-11 PG Anna Droegemueller – Redline 13U
Playing up a grade, the diminutive point guard brought monster heart and hustle. I loved how hard she played on defense, accepting the challenge of guarding the other’s team’s best player. Anna gets up under you as an on-ball defender, taking away air space as a pest. Droegemueller picks off passes and digs out steals. She knocked down a corner jumper in the one-point win. Anna racked up 3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals and 1 block, her energy contagious with her teammates.

2030 5-10 F Amelia Herndon – Milton Fury – Milton
Amelia was impressive, filling up the box score in a narrow loss. Herndon’s impact was felt on both ends of the floor. The rangy forward excelled at scoring out of the pick-and-roll. The tallest player on the floor, Amelia was fleet of foot and coordinated. She spent time between the wing and the post. Defensively, Herndon was tough to score on. She used her length to block shots, pick off passes and eliminate second chances. Amelia finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 4 blocks.
2030 5-5 G Palmer Darr – Redline 13U – South Forsyth
In a 48-47 win, Palmer Darr powered Redline with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. The southpaw from South Forsyth was all over the floor with her high motor. Palmer is a lengthy guard with a nice jump shot. She buried a long two and later hit a corner three to stretch out the defense. Darr had success getting out in transition, scoring three times including a difficult right-handed finish on the left side. In the halfcourt, Palmer attacked baseline and also found a hoop on a putback.

2030 5-9 F Melody Ashford – Redline 13U – William & Reed Academy
I will be interested to see where Melody Ashford ends up in high school. I was very impressed with her game. As Redline’s tallest player, Melody showed the skill to play 1-5, grabbing rebounds and starting fastbreaks. Ashford has a strong frame for her grade, equipped with inside-out versatility. Ashford is a floor stretcher with her three-point shot, able to sink the trail three. Melody netted three threes, scored on a steal with her left hand and went 3-4 from the foul line to finish with a robust stat line of 14 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Ashford is a dynamic chess piece that can be used in many ways.
