2024 5-9 PG Lucy Hood – Rabun County
While it wasn’t her most efficient offensive game, reigning Class 2A Freshman of the Year Lucy Hood showed maturity as she flipped the switch in the fourth quarter and began to attack the rim relentlessly. Fresh off the cross-country course, Hood didn’t make a single field goal but still managed to positively influence the game and score when needed, going 13-16 from the foul line including hitting 10-12 in the fourth quarter when the LadyCats were in need of a jolt offensively. Hood came off the bench to start and provided important ball handling and poise vs. the White County press. She grabbed 5 rebounds and had 1 steal. Hood has gotten taller and stronger since her freshman year. Once she gets back into full-time basketball mode, staying aggressive offensively and imposing her will more often will help her reach her ceiling. She has all the tools to become a D-I/II recruit.
2022 5-5 G Sophie Woodard – Rabun County
With the game hanging in the balance midway through the fourth quarter, three straight buckets from Sophie Woodard helped give Rabun County the lead for good in a tight-knit 59-57 win over White County. Woodard was able to do a little bit of everything recording 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. She didn’t shy away from the moment and looked for her offense when her team needed her, hitting two mid-range jumpers and finishing a coast-to-coast breakaway to push the LadyCats ahead.
2022 5-10 G Carley Haban – Rabun County
A long guard, Carley Haban uses her size to her advantage. While she isn’t overpowering with her build, Haban still likes to get physical when getting downhill and does a good job finishing through contact, muscling her way through smaller defenders. Her offense came on drives to the basket where she finished with both hands and from the foul line going 6-7. Haban finished with 12 points.
2023 5-11 W Maci Shelnut – White County
The game flipped in the blink of an eye in the third quarter when Maci Shelnut caught fire with three straight threes. Shelnut scored all 11 of her points in her explosive frame. Maci has covetable length which helps her shoot over contests and cause issues on defense with her versatility. Shelnut is one of many shooters Coach Jarvis Davenport has to deploy but with her length and time left to develop, she may be one of the more interesting prospects for small schools to keep an eye on.

2023 6-0 F Naomi Roberts – White County
An ankle injury ended Naomi Roberts’ night early, hurting herself with 16.6 seconds left in the third with the Warriors up 42-39. No doubt an impact to the final score, the more important matter is her health moving forward especially after the amount of injuries White County dealt with last year – avoiding the injury bug will be crucial. Roberts’ versatility was starting to hurt Rabun County before she went down. She had 4 points on two putbacks, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals. Roberts has a quick first step which helps her play all over the floor, attacking off the dribble from the perimeter and making swift moves in the paint. While White County is known for playing a deep bench, make no mistake that in crunch time the Warriors want Roberts on the floor.

2025 5-5 PG Mya Yeh – White County
Maybe the most impressive debut came from freshman Mya Yeh. Daughter of Truett McConnell Men’s Head Coach Jon Yeh and younger sister of All-State junior Jadon Yeh, Mya brought fearless play and composure to the White County backcourt. Aside from her height, you wouldn’t be able to tell that Yeh is just a freshman. She’s strong and compact, able to take bumps without getting knocked off course. Yeh is a good ball handler that can slice her way to the hoop but can also knock down the mid-range. Her IQ and nose for the ball was apparent in her impressive 7-point, 6-rebound, 4-assist performance.

2025 6-0 F Kylie Watkins – White County
I loved what I saw out of Kylie Watkins in the summer and nothing changed on Tuesday. Getting her first taste of varsity action, good things always seemed to happen when Watkins was on the floor. Part of a deep rotation, Watkins wasted no time impacting the game with her length and overall skillset posting 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block. Kylie scored on a pretty left-handed hook in the post and found her other bucket on a cut to the rim. Watkins’ well-rounded two-way play makes her an intriguing prospect with a terrific ceiling. If she fills into her body and continues to improve, D-I offers could be a realistic goal.
