Janiyah Blevins
2027 5-5 PG Janiyah Blevins – Bradwell Institute
The catalyst on Friday for the lone unbeaten team left in Georgia was Janiyah Blevins. The heady playmaker helped Bradwell Institute move to 26-0 and more importantly, beat Brunswick for the third time this season to capture the Region 1-5A Championship, 58-51. Blevins busted the box score with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. I loved the energy she played with. On such a big stage, it could have been easy for Blevins to have too much juice and play frantically but instead her effort was harnessed and effective as she made other around her better. Janiyah sliced up Brunswick’s zone defenses with her sharp passes to open teammates. When she wasn’t setting the table, she was savvily hunting her own offense as she went 2-4 from beyond the arc, 3-4 from the line and converted on a coast-to-coast layup. While her offensive production was great, I think her defense really helped set the tone as she drew a charge and provided multiple efforts while rotating to eliminate scoring chances with her active hands.

2026 5-8 G Jamia Ousley – Bradwell Institute
With the Augusta University coaching staff on hand, Jamia Ousley helped her stock tremendously as an intriguing unsigned senior with upside. The rangy lefty was active on both sides of the ball, flashing a potential 3&D skill set as she went 2-6 from beyond the arc while working the left baseline for three pull-ups along with a high post jumper.  Ousley collected a game-high 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. It felt like whenever Brunswick was closing the gap, the ball found Jamia for a big shot. She led the Tigers with six points in the fourth quarter to keep the Pirates at bay after entering the final period up 39-36.

2027 5-10 W Lauryn Walker – Brunswick
The toolsy swingman racked up 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals and 1 block in a 58-51 loss to Bradwell Institute. Walker let it fly from the corners against Bradwell’s 1-2-2 zone, connecting on 2-8 from beyond the arc. She mixed in a little hook in the lane and converted an And-1 bucket as well. Walker has great length and impressive athleticism. Pair those two traits with her motor and you have a player who consistently influences games on every possession. Remaining aggressive as a downhill attacker will serve her well as I believe she has a quick first step and is springy enough to elevate to finish at the rim. Expect Walker’s production to jump even higher next season.

2027 5-11 F Jakai Alston – Brunswick
Alston is a unique player. She is a physical powerhouse with a strong, wide frame but she isn’t just an under the rim mauler, she is a tremendously gifted athlete with great leaping ability and fast-twitch speed for her size. Nimble on her feet, Jakai is comfortable playing on the perimeter with a point-forward type feel. She came on strong in the second half for the Pirates, scoring 10 points after the break to keep Brunswick withing striking distance. Alston netted a baseline jumper, converted an And-1 drive, ran the floor for a right-handed layup on the left side and scored on a pair of putbacks to go with her 4-7 shooting from the foul line to finish with a team-high 14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. I love how she explodes up to snatch rebounds with both hands in traffic and how she is able to use her body to aggressively back down defenders when she catches on the block. Her toughness should draw plenty of recruitment attention over the offseason.

2026 5-9 G Martin Davis – Brunswick
One of the top unsigned guards in all of Georgia with a commitment right around the corner, Martin battled foul trouble but managed to put up 10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal before fouling out in the fourth. Known for her relentless tenacity, Davis got off to a quick start with five points in the opening quarter. In total, she shot an efficient 2-4 from the three-point line while handling point guard duties against Bradwell Institute’s zone. Davis managed to get her teammates open looks especially from the corners with her drive-and-kick facilitating. She had patient vision, allowing plays to develop before delivering passes. The 1,500-point scorer has a nose for the ball and has proven over the course of her career to be an extremely effective on-ball defender with a knack for getting downhill through contact with both hands.

2028 5-2 G Janiyah Quiller – Evans
Evans trailed 14-6 after one, 19-11 at halftime and 26-23 through three quarters before Janiyah Quiller finally broke out, dumping in 13 fourth quarter points to lift the Knights past Greenbrier 41-38 to capture the three-seed heading into the state playoffs. The little lefty started to outwork the opposition, hunting down offensive rebounds as the smallest player on the floor and making splash plays as she sliced into the Greenbrier zone for short pull-ups. Quiller drew fouls as she maneuvered her way to the rim, going 9-10 from the stripe. While she started slow with no points in the first quarter and just four at halftime, Quiller steadily got hot as the game wore on, shooting an efficient 6-12 from the field and 1-3 from deep. Janiyah finished with a game-high 22 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Her explosive athleticism downhill makes her a tough cover and when her defense is sparking her offense, she thrives in transition scoring easy hoop after easy hoop.

2028 5-7 G Jayla Ayler – Greenbrier
With their leading scorer Emily McMurray sidelined for up to eight weeks with an ankle injury, the young Wolfpack turned to their underclassmen to get them into the state tournament. Jayla Ayler nearly carried Greenbrier to the three-seed as she scored nine of her team’s 12 fourth quarter points, but the shorthanded Pack ran out of gas falling 41-38 at Evans. A solid jump shooter, Jayla got aggressive attacking the hoop in the second half as she sliced across the lane for And-1s and floaters. She displayed the ability to finish with either hand and shot 5-7 from the line. Jayla finished with a team-best 15 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist.

2029 5-9 G Cherish Hunt – Greenbrier
There is a lot to like about Cherish Hunt, another talented underclassman making a huge impact at Greenbrier. A strongly build guard that can play 1-4, Hunt was hot early on for Greenbrier with eight first quarter points to get the Wolfpack out in front 14-6 through eight minutes. Hunt scored from multiple levels throughout the game. She went 2-4 from beyond the arc and scored off a steal and on two drives, one being an And-1. While her offensive production was key, Hunt still made plays defensively as well, showing her versatility inside and out as she finished with 14 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 5 steals and 1 block. Cherish kept her turnovers low and went 5-12 from the field. The nucleus of junior Emily McMurray, sophomore Jayla Ayler and freshman Cherish Hunt has a chance to make serious noise next season when they all return healthy and a year older.
