There isn’t much movement in Class 6A. No. 1 North Paulding topped Class 5A No. 7 Brunswick 73-62 at Hoopin’ at the High, Kenzie Hinkson with 22 points. No. 3 Buford drilled Class 5A No. 5 Woodward Academy 79-56 behind Chattanooga-signee Lydia Ledford’s 22 points and E’miah Fields’ 20 to rise a spot in the poll while No. 4 Grayson slips, going 0-3 against Alabama competition. No. 6 Cherokee lost 61-46 to Class 5A No. 2 Milton.

In Class 5A there is subtle movement. No. 1 River Ridge was blown out by South Carolina juggernaut Westside 86-61 at the She Got Game Classic, the Rams also with a 60-40 win over Class 6A No. 3 Buford earlier in the season. No. 2 Milton rebounded from a pair of losses at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational by winning at Class 6A No. 6 Cherokee 61-46. No. 3 New Manchester clings onto their spot after falling to Campbell 51-42. No. 5 Woodward Academy fell to Class 6A No. 3 Buford 79-56. No. 6 Bradwell Institute swaps places with Region 1 rival No. 7 Brunswick. The Tigers beat North Forsyth 54-41 at Hoopin’ at the High. Brunswick suffered a 73-62 loss to Class 6A No. 1 North Paulding, Jakai Alston with 13 points. No. 8 Lanier won the JaxCo Holiday Hoopfest, knocking off Class 3A No. 9 Pickens 48-39 in the semifinals before pulling away late from Jackson County after a 16-2 first quarter gave the Longhorns enough cushion throughout, 61-44. Jordan Johnson exploded for 20 points. No. 9 Sequoyah lost to Class 4A No. 1 Marist 65-51 at the War Lodge Invitational before beating Archer 62-46. No. 10 Langston Hughes fell 45-42 at Campbell in the Campbell Holiday Classic Championship but closed the week with a 38-34 victory against Class 2A No. 1 Columbia.

The Class 4A Top 10 remains unchanged. No. 1 Marist won at Class 5A No. 9 Sequoyah 65-51 in the War Lodge Invitational. No. 3 Cartersville defeated Class A D-I No. 8 Heard County 53-30. No. 4 Southwest DeKalb had a perfect week, beating Stephenson 58-48, Class 2A No. 1 Columbia 56-26 and Class 3A No. 3 Cherokee Bluff 50-48 at the She Got Game Classic. No. 6 North Oconee also defeated Cherokee Bluff 62-60 at the Smoky Mountain Classic. No. 8 Jones County recorded season splits, losing 58-42 at Class 2A No. 2 Josey but knocking off previously unbeaten Class A D-I No. 1 Putnam County 52-38. No. 9 Dalton defeated Pope at the Wood Elite Classic 47-41, Aubriyana Camp with 19 points.

Class 3A No. 1 Luella beat Midtown 57-51 at the She Got Game Classic as Naima Foster recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Angel Thomas followed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. No. 2 Monroe moves up after winning at No. 8 Jenkins 60-43 at the BallHer Showcase, Kie’Aundria Acree with 36 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The Golden Tornadoes fell 57-54 to Norcross and lost 88-68 to Bob Jones, AL at the She Got Game Classic. Acree netted her 2,000th career point against Norcross. No. 3 Cherokee Bluff slips a spot after a 1-3 week, losing to Class 4A No. 6 North Oconee 62-60 at the Smoky Mountain Classic and to Class 4A No. 4 Southwest DeKalb 50-48 at the She Got Game Classic. No. 5 Oconee County won the McDonald’s Shootout at last week’s Class 2A No. 8 Hart County 59-47. No. 9 Pickens lost 48-39 in the semifinals of the JaxCo Holiday Hoopfest to Class 5A No. 8 Lanier before draining 14 threes against Denmark in the third-place game to win 60-28. Dawson County (10-3) drops out of the Top 10 after the Tigers went 3-0 with a Jingle Jam Championship at Banks County 46-38, but in the process lost All-State senior guard Maddie Siuta to an ACL tear. No. 10 Ridgeland debuts in the poll following a 5-21 season sitting at 13-1 after winning at Pepperell 61-44, the Panthers streaking behind UVA Wise-signee JaMiah Lewis (17.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.4 apg, 4.5 spg, 1.6 bpg) and freshman Jordyn Thomas (14 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.8 apg, 6.2 spg).

Class 2A No. 1 Columbia holds onto their spot after losing 56-26 at Class 4A No. 4 Southwest DeKalb and at Class 5A No. 10 Langston Hughes 38-34. No. 2 Josey avenged an earlier loss to Class 4A No. 8 Jones County, winning 58-42. Even with Miley McClure out with an ACL tear, No. 4 Murray County led Class 3A-1A Private No. 1 Hebron Christian at halftime 26-24 at the North Georgia Report Winter Fest before falling 68-54. No. 8 Union County lost 78-52 to Class A D-I No. 5 Fannin County while No. 9 Sonoraville lost to McEachern 53-28 at the Tiger Christmas Clash. No. 10 Hart County sinks two slots with a 59-47 loss to Class 3A No. 5 Oconee County in the McDonald’s Shootout Championship before losing to Madison County 45-39 for the second time in three games this season.

There is only slight movement in Class A D-I but seismic changes are always on the horizon. No. 1 Putnam County lost their first game of the season but maintains their spot, dropping at Class 4A No. 8 Jones County 52-38 to split the season series. No. 2 Elbert County lost 50-49 to Hilliard, FL at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational. No. 4 Lamar County won their Oscar Wimberly Classic, drilling Tri-Cities 67-46. No. 5 Fannin County won at Model 69-56 at the Big Blue Classic before romping Class 2A No. 8 Union County on the road 78-52. No. 7 Rabun County rises a spot after flirting with disaster at Commerce, down 32-17 at the half. Adelyn Thompson’s late game heroics struck again, draining a three with under a minute to play to tie the game at 44 to force overtime before the LadyCats scratched out a 52-50 win, Thompson finishing with 9 points while Addy Beth Owens racked up 17 points and freshman Millie Southards recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 steals. No. 8 Heard County slips in the poll but has played the toughest schedule in the classification, losing 53-30 to Class 4A No. 3 Cartersville at the Carrollton Christmas Showcase and 73-43 to Private No. 3 Holy Innocents’ before stomping Class A D-II No. 8 Greenville 74-48 on the road.

There are changes in Class A D-II. No. 1 Wilcox County was upset at Fitzgerald 51-46. No. 5 Pelham rises two spots after surviving debutant No. 10 Terrell County in double overtime 74-69. No. 6 Telfair County climbs four spaces after No. 7 Screven County dropped two slots now on a three-game losing streak, beat 71-63 by Metter. No. 9 Clinch County tumbles three spots with a 31-29 loss to Atkinson County. No. 8 Greenville holds tight after a 74-48 loss to Class A D-I No. 8 Heard County. Taylor County (7-3) sinks out of the Top 10 after a 35-29 loss at Manchester.

Movement can be found at the bottom of the Class 3A-1A Private poll. There nearly were changes at the top as No. 1 Hebron Christian struggled against a shorthanded Class 2A No. 4 Murray County team, down 26-24 at the half at the North Georgia Report Winter Fest before wearing down the Indians 68-54. No. 2 St. Francis beat Duncanville, TX 55-50 but lost in the Sandra Meadows Classic Championship to North Crowley, TX 62-51 to finish their trip to the Lone Star State 3-1. No. 3 Holy Innocents’ overpowered Class A D-I No. 8 Heard County at the Carrollton Christmas Showcase 73-43 before beating Winter Haven, FL 65-63 at the She Got Game Classic, who lost 62-56 to Hebron Christian the day prior. No. 5 Whitefield Academy rises a position in the poll after beating No. 9 Trinity Christian 63-55 at She Got Game. No. 8 Mt. Paran moves up with a 67-50 win at the Chick-Fil-A Christmas Classic at No. 10 Christian Heritage, who falls two spaces with a loss at Armuchee 48-44 to close out the week.
