A snow storm has hit the state of Georgia, so today’s analysis will be short, but there were some big results across the GHSA this past week.No. 1 Newton dropped back-to-back games at the Georgia Hardwood Classic after beating Parkview 76-68. The Rams lost 59-48 to Cumberland Christian and 80-59 to No. 2 Pebblebrook, but all that can be taken away from the results is an asterisk as Stephon Castle (UConn), Jakai Newton (Indiana), Miokaye Grant and MJ Whitlock did not play, leaving the Rams with a barebones roster. Still undefeated at full strength in the state of Georgia, the Rams maintain their top position even after Pebblebrook’s impressive week saw three wins against ranked teams, also beating returnee No. 9 East Coweta 71-65 and No. 5 McEachern 85-74 on the road. No. 4 Berkmar slips a spot after losing 80-60 at the St. James MLK Classic to St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, VA. No. 3 Milton climbs with a 63-55 win at Etowah and a 2-1 showing at the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions. No. 7 Norcross won at No. 10 Archer 71-67.
