A wintery mix of snow and ice postponed a handful of games across the state but most teams were proactive in moving Friday games up to Thursday to allow for nearly a full slate of action.

In Class 6A, No. 1 Grayson topped No. 4 Newton 72-56 to drop the Rams one spot. No. 10 Hillgrove falls two spots with a 67-54 loss at South Cobb. Norcross (11-6) and Grovetown (9-6) exit the Top 10. The Blue Devils lost 60-48 at Duluth while the Warriors have now lost three-straight, beat 44-41 at Rockdale and losing 58-46 to Greenbrier. No. 8 Buford resurfaces in the poll for the first time since Week 2, coming off wins over Discovery 65-58 and Collins Hill 90-66. No. 9 Meadowcreek debuts after winning at Duluth 55-49 and beating Brookwood 70-52, a week after winning at Norcross in overtime 70-68, now riding a seven-game winning streak. A balanced attack is led by seniors Jayson Fleming (10.9 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.1 spg) and Hady Diane (10.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg).

Class 5A No. 1 Milton held off No. 7 Gainesville 60-50 behind Milwaukee-signee Josh Dixon’s 26 points and 5 assists and Yale-signee Daniel Ogunyemi’s 16 points and 15 rebounds. No. 6 Dutchtown escaped Langston Hughes with a 66-64 victory. No. 10 Alexander sinks two spaces following a 57-46 loss at Lithia Springs while region rival No. 9 New Manchester rises a position after hitting a shot at the buzzer to win at South Paulding 61-60.

No. 1 Pace Academy held serve in Class 4A, defeating No. 9 Maynard Jackson 78-65. No. 3 Kell won at Centennial 77-68 as Connor Staphylaris netted 19 points. No. 7 Central-Carrollton climbs three spots after making a statement in Region 3, winning at No. 8 Jonesboro 62-57 to force the Cardinals down three spaces. Messiah Boykin tallied 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals while Chace North netted 18 points and Khaven Cochran posted 17 while Cortez Redding led the Cardinals with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

For the first time since January 2017, Class 3A No. 9 Westside-Augusta was held below 38 points, hammered by No. 2 Cross Creek 66-34 as Frashad Tisby led three Razorbacks in double figures with 19 points. No. 3 Pickens blasted Private No. 7 GAC 87-60. No. 4 Cherokee Bluff won their rematch at No. 6 East Hall 76-72 as Boston Kersh dumped in 25 points.

Class 2A No. 1 Carver-Columbus torched Spencer 76-28 behind Troy-signee Tony Montgomery’s 16 points and 8 assists. No. 2 Columbia survived at Salem 45-43. No. 7 Tattnall County went 3-0, highlighted by wins over Woodville-Tompkins (58-25) and Toombs County (45-42). No. 10 Hart County falls a spot after beating Prince Avenue 56-50 but losing in overtime to Hebron Christian 64-60. Laney (11-4) exits after a buzzer beating loss at Thomson 61-59. No. 9 Sumter County makes their first appearance in the Top 10. The Panthers don’t have a sexy record but they have played a tough schedule, their six losses coming to teams with a combined record of 59-23 with two via Class 5A No. 8 Lee County (61-55; 69-50). Sumter County won 52-51 at Spencer last week and just completed a season sweep of 13-4 Crisp County by beating the Cougars 53-46.

There is no movement in Class A D-I. No. 1 Putnam County pounded previously ranked Towers 76-59 behind J’Mari Greene’s 22 points and Tamaud Woodson’s 21. No. 5 East Laurens defeated No. 7 Dublin 74-55 before the Irish also lost at West Laurens 53-46. No. 6 Rabun County thumped No. 10 Banks County on the road 81-48.

A new top team rises in Class A D-II as No. 1 McIntosh County Academy leapfrogs two spots following a 48-47 win at No. 2 Savannah, who also lost 70-52 to Andrew Jackson, FL. Jayden Ellis scored 20 points to lead the Buccaneers past the Blue Jackets. Strength of schedule is a determining factor as to why the two coastal teams are ranked slightly ahead of No. 3 Calhoun County, who remained perfect after winning at No. 9 Early County 45-42. Out of McIntosh County Academy’s three losses, two came in overtime against 14-1 Class 5A Brunswick and the other a 68-57 loss to Class 3A No. 8 Windsor Forest. Savannah’s top win is a season opening 54-45 victory at Class 6A No. 9 Meadowcreek. The largest school Calhoun County has and will play all season is 8-8 Class 3A Monroe who they beat 63-60 at home. No. 4 Randolph-Clay suffered a 66-64 loss at Seminole County but rebounded with a 60-58 win over Monroe. No. 5 Manchester rises a spot with a 69-53 win against No. 7 Macon County who beat No. 6 Taylor County 70-69 to open the week.

Paran while No. 6 Calvary Day slips a spot after a 67-62 loss at Benedictine, Kuol Deng with 17 points in defeat. No. 7 GAC was smoked by Class 3A No. 3 Pickens 87-60.
