Four of last week’s number one ranked teams lost, prompting two new number ones to ascend to the top of their respective polls.No. 1 Brookwood held serve in Class 7A, blasting Archer (11-4) 70-40 to drop last week’s No. 6 ranked team from the poll. No. 2 North Forsyth is back on track, still yet to lose a game to an in-state opponent. The Raiders scored wins over Loganville (59-36) and Denmark (67-35), Erin Whalen netting 12 against the Red Devils and Kamryn Gardner 15 vs. Denmark. No. 3 Grayson rallied from down 11 points in the second half to topple No. 4 Norcross 67-65 on the road at Full Court Press. Erin Rodgers scored the game-winner with a second left, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. No. 5 South Forsyth won at Hillgrove 54-45 as Sharon Tolliver reached the 1,000-point plateau. No. 6 West Forsyth is up two spots even though they had a 1-2 week, losing 69-56 to Class A-Private No. 1 Holy Innocents’, beating North Gwinnett 49-31 and falling to Dr. Phillips, FL at the She Got Game Classic, 49-47. Junior Molly Quincy has emerged as game-changing energy player that has scored in bunches, taking the pressure off Tennessee Tech-signee Cayla Cowart. Quincy poured in 26 points and 10 rebounds against Holy Innocents’ and led the Wolverines against North Gwinnett with 17 points. No. 7 Woodstock lost 56-53 to Class A-Private No. 5 Wesleyan while No. 8 Campbell was defeated by Colonial, FL 61-54 at the She Got Game Classic. No. 10 East Coweta breaks into the rankings for the first time this season. The Indians had an impressive week, earning wins over Hiram (56-48), Marietta (69-56) and Class 3A No. 2 GAC (65-56). The senior trio of Letiya Reeves (18.4 ppg), Aaliyah Ferrell and Miles-signee Amya Walker forms an athletic, aggressive and explosive backcourt.

No. 1 River Ridge finally takes over the top spot in Class 6A after No. 5 Kell lost 82-65 at region rival Sprayberry, LSU-signee Flau’jae Johnson torching the Longhorns with 40 points and 14 rebounds before getting beat 51-43 by Class A-Private No. 1 Holy Innocents’ at the She Got Game Classic. River Ridge overpowered Cambridge 71-27 behind Mataya Gayle’s 24 points and freshman Sophia Pearl’s 22. No. 2 Carrollton is on the rise after surviving at last week’s Class 4A No. 2 Carver-Columbus 60-59. No. 4 Buford held Habersham Central to three second half points in their 60-17 destruction, Ava Grace Watson dropping 16 points in three quarters of action followed by Jayla Gudz’s 15. No. 6 Brunswick is on the verge of moving into the Top 5. The Lady Pirates continue to steamroll their competition, notching wins over Bradwell Institute (64-36), South Effingham (67-32) and Coffee (67-33). Brunswick hosts No. 10 Statesboro on Friday, the Blue Devils coming off wins against Richmond Hill (60-49) and Glynn Academy (57-54).

No. 1 Woodward Academy holds tight atop Class 5A after a 74-70 loss to Lake Highland Prep, FL at the She Got Game Classic, UGA-signee Sydney Bowles piling in 33 points and 9 rebounds. No. 5 Griffin earned a hard-fought 53-49 win over McIntosh (8-4), squeezing the Chiefs out of the Top 10 after their third-straight loss against a ranked opponent. No. 7 Northside-Columbus slipped by Harris County 55-51 while No. 9 Stockbridge handled Eagle’s Landing 53-39. No. 10 Warner Robins resurfaces in the rankings after a convincing 56-36 win over rival Northside-Warner Robins.

For the fourth week in a row, the order of the top four in Class 4A is slightly altered. No. 1 Luella lost 62-56 to Class A-Private No. 3 Mt. Paran at the She Got Game Classic, but maintains their position. No. 2 Jefferson is up a spot after overwhelming returnee No. 10 Chestatee 72-43. No. 3 Carver-Columbus narrowly slips a spot with a tough 60-59 loss to Class 6A No. 2 Carrollton. Aforementioned Chestatee climbs back into the rankings thanks to a 75-63 win over North Oconee, sophomore Riley Black pouring in a career-high 34 points and 10 rebounds as the War Eagles took 41 trips to the foul line. No. 5 Marist won at St. Pius X 46-37 while No. 8 Pickens, winners of 11-straight, escaped Northwest Whitfield 43-41. Region 1 does a two-for-one swap as Thomas County Central (11-4) and Westover (9-5) drop out to make way for No. 9 Bainbridge who last appeared in the Top 10 in Week 5. Thomas County Central went 0-2, losing tight ones to Dougherty 61-53 and to Bainbridge 53-48. Westover won at Dougherty 49-47 but were blown out in their rematch at Tift County 58-29.

No. 2 GAC is on the verge of slipping out of the two-hole in Class 3A, losing 65-56 to Class 7A No. 10 East Coweta, but an idle No. 3 Cross Creek was unable to take advantage and record a win. No. 4 Pierce County suffered a 51-49 loss to Bradwell Institute. No. 5 Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, the state’s best reclamation project, won 65-54 at Coahulla Creek. No. 6 Redan squeaked by Cedar Grove 49-47. No. 7 East Jackson picked up a big win over No. 10 Oconee County 53-49, dropping the Warriors two spots. Dawson County (10-6) falls out of the poll to make way for No. 9 North Hall who beat the Tigers 61-54 and Gilmer 74-41, riding a five-game winning streak with a Lanierland title spurring the hot stretch.

Aside from No. 1 Elbert County’s 44-33 win at North Oconee, all eyes were on Region 3 in Class 2A. The logjam is starting to figure itself out as four ranked teams have begun battle. No. 7 Dodge County is down two spots after taking their first losses of the season to No. 6 Northeast-Macon (59-41) and No. 5 Washington County (55-49). Northeast-Macon sits at 4-0 in the region after also securing a 62-50 win at Bleckley County. Back into the rankings marking the fourth team from Region 3 in the Top 10 is No. 10 Lamar County. The Trojans beat Bleckley County 71-56 and have a monster sink-or-swim week upcoming as they are on the road against Northeast-Macon on Tuesday and at Washington County on Friday. Outside of Middle Georgia’s most competitive region, No. 8 Swainsboro climbed two spots with a 62-41 win over previously 10-0 Bacon County. No. 9 Heard County beat last week’s Class A-Public No. 6 Mt. Zion-Carrollton 44-34 and East Paulding 33-28 but had a 50-30 loss to Villa Rica sandwiched in between. Callaway (8-3) drops out of the rankings after a 60-48 loss to Class A-Private No. 7 Trinity Christian.

No. 1 Holy Innocents’ resume in Class A-Private gets better and better each week. The Golden Bears notched wins over Class 7A No. 6 West Forsyth (69-56) and last week’s Class 6A No. 1 Kell (51-43) at the She Got Game Classic. No. 2 St. Francis also got a win at She Got Game, defeating Arlington, TN 56-47. No. 3 Mt. Paran won 64-44 at Darlington and recorded a signature win at She Got Game over Class 4A No. 1 Luella 62-56, Georgia Tech-signee Kara Dunn finishing with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. No. 4 Hebron Christian posted a 56-55 win at Sand Rock, AL. No. 5 Wesleyan is up a spot with a 56-53 win at Class 7A No. 7 Woodstock while No. 6 Galloway slips with a 1-1 showing at the She Got Game Classic, losing to Lake Highland Prep, FL 62-44 before beating Newton 58-41. No. 7 Trinity Christian rises a position following a 60-48 win over last week’s Class 2A No. 9 Callaway. No. 8 Calvary Day loses ground with a 69-61 loss to Hilton Head Christian Academy, SC but closed the week with a nice 65-58 win over Bulloch Academy.

Class A-Public has its third number one ranked team this season as No. 1 Screven County tries their hand after No. 2 Montgomery County’s seven-week reign has come to an end after losing 49-47 at returnee No. 9 Telfair County. Elizabeth Murphy powered the upset with 16 points. Screven County takes over atop the poll after wins over McIntosh County Academy (63-30) and Jenkins County (36-25). No. 7 Mt. Zion-Carrollton falls another spot after losing 44-34 to last week’s Class 2A No. 8 Heard County. Trion (9-4) is a casualty, beat 51-48 by LaFayette.
