McIntosh High School’s all-time leading scorer talks about the transition from high school to college.

Indihoops notes

  • Jalyn McCreary of Kennesaw Mountain is going to be an All-State player next year. The 6-foot-6 2019 forward is already hearing from Houston and Oklahoma State without playing a varsity game.
  • Maurice Harvey promises that Miller Grove will raise banner No. 8 after next season. Harvey was explosive with the 16U Atlanta Celtics. With a full year of varsity experience under his belt, Harvey has two good seasons ahead of him.
  • McEachern’s Isaac Okoro wasn’t at his absolute best this weekend but he still produced at a high-clip with a busted chin. Physically, he can power through any defender in his way.
  • Sharife Cooper and Babatunde Akingbola of McEachern are great options behind Okoro. Cooper is a foul magnet when getting into the lane while Akingbola was the best rim protector at the tournament.
  • Rashod Bateman’s stock continues to rise. His stroke is a thing of beauty. Once he sees one drop, more are to follow. He has the goods to play football and basketball at the next level.
  • Recruitment has been slow for Miller Grove unsigned senior Joshua Jackmon. After tearing an ACL last offseason, Jackmon is back healthy. His on-ball defense is still above average. He will play in the first two live periods and if he doesn’t see any offers, he is leaning towards going to prep school.
  • Columbia’s Kenton Eskridge is looking at the prep route as well.
  • Southwest DeKalb has an exciting 2020 backcourt in Eugene Brown III and Kadarius “KD” Johnson. Johnson played great this weekend as a physical guard that can finish at the rim.
  • Tre Gomillion and Trent Bowdre helped the Southern Kings to a 3-1 weekend. The Aquinas backcourt led the Kings to a win over the Mississippi Bulldogs. Gomillion had 25 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while Bowdre netted all 14 of his points in the second half.
  • Clarence Jackson did a little bit of everything for the Southern Stampede this week. He rebounded the ball well.
  • Tye Fagan dropped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in a win over the Elite Playmakers. The Upson-Lee combo guard knocked down a few threes.
  • Rutland High’s LaMontis Moore brought energy and scoring to the Team Georgia Magic backcourt. The 5-foot-8 guard had 16 points. He averaged a team-high 16.1 points per game for Rutland this season as a junior.
