GHSA Statewide Recap 12-9

BOYS

Class AAAAAAA

No. 7 Collins Hill 68, Discovery 51: Chris Parks (17), Kenny Stanciel (14), Justin Lee (11) and JaQuan Morris (10) lifted the Eagles over Discovery. Jaylen Bussey led the Titans with 15 points. DJ Young and Jaden Stanley both had 10.

Berkmar 81, Central Gwinnett 59: Unsigned senior Jay Estime was red hot again, banging in eight threes en route to 34 points. Indiana-signee Al Durham had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Ian Hardy chipped in 14 points and NJIT-bound point guard Zach Cooks tossed in 10.

East Coweta 59, Raleigh-Egypt, TN 51: Mark Mitchell scored 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 8 shots to help East Coweta over Raleigh-Egypt at the Memphis vs. Atlanta Classic.

Lambert 72, East Jackson 41: Austin Deckard scored 13 points and Jordan McIlwain added 12.

Mill Creek 48, North Gwinnett 39: Jayden Marshall dropped in 12 points to lead the Hawks in a balanced scoring attack. Noah Kenny had 9 points and Matty Dobbs added 8.

Parkview 71, South Forsyth 46: Parkview held UNCW-signee Evan Cole to 11 points to shut down the War Eagles. Ahmir Langlais posted 12 points and Toneari Lane added 11.  The Panthers saw 14 out of 15 players crack the scoresheet.

Woodstock 73, Walton 49: Noah Frith’s added dimension to the Woodstock frontcourt continued to pay dividends as he scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed 7 boards. Tyreke Johnson scored 16 and picked up 5 assists while Nate Garner had 11 points. Dylin Hardeman finished with 8 points and 5 assists. For Walton, Austin Kirksey and Jason McKie both had 8.

Grayson 82, West Hall 47: Travis Anderson torched the Spartans with 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Justin Fleming had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Gerald Buncum had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Bryce Brown collected 4 points and 8 rebounds while DeAli Thompson had 6 points and 8 boards.

Class AAAAAA

No. 2 Jonesboro 79, Lovejoy 24: MJ Walker posted 22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Mies Black went for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

No. 3 South Paulding 66, Douglas County 48: Georgia State-signee Kane Williams went for 19 points and 9 assists while Drew Shepperd netted 17 points.

No. 8 Brunswick 57, Bradwell Institute 51: Big man Kymani Dunham finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jaylen Jackson tacked on 15.

No. 9 Allatoona 64, Osborne 59: Rolan Wooden scored 12 points and drew three charges to help the Bucs escape the Cardinals. Tyler Jackson scored 11 points and collected 4 steals. Trey Doomes finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assist and 1 block. Mike Johnson pitched in 8 points and 6 assists. LaTrell Tate gave the Buccaneers fits by scoring 25 points.

South Cobb 79, Creekview 61: Trevin Wade got off for 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Eagles blew past Creekview. Ralueke Orizu posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Tay Dollar had 13 points and 6 rebounds and Mike McClendon added 9 points and 8 boards. Creekview received 23 points from KJ Jenkins and 15 from Weber Sandlin.

Sprayberry 59, Kell 57: Eddie Figueroa collected 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Rodney Pearson had 13 points and 6 assists. Kahdim Samb posted 15 points.

Alexander 60, Mays 54: Alexander went on the road and picked up a massive Region 5 victory behind Grant Howard’s 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Rod Rapley supplied 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Damion Howell battled for 7 points and 11 boards while Cameron Armstrong chipped in 8 points. For Mays, Reo Wright scored 13, Donald Harris 16 and Clayvon Croom 15.

Dunwoody 62, Johns Creek 51: Sidi Diallo scored 15 points and Christian Williams and Turner Nims netted 12 apiece to carry the Wildcats. Neil Ilenrey scored 9 for Johns Creek while Jordan Dinkins had 11.

Class AAAAA

No. 3 Cedar Shoals 63, Flowery Branch 50: In a game of runs, Cedar Shoals had just enough to hold off a previously unbeaten Falcons group. Phlan Fleming scored 21 points and Snipe Hall had 11. In the loss Brannon Clark had 15 points while Justin Quick scored 14 and John Mills had 12.

No. 6 Fayette County 70, Morrow 64: Phillip Young torched Morrow for 25 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals as the Tigers remained undefeated. Josh Dupree chipped in 16 points, 2 assists and 2 steals. Noah Gurley added 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Austin Nesmith had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

No. 7 Miller Grove 51, No. 2 Southwest DeKalb 42: Even after a sluggish start to the season, the Wolverines flexed their muscle against region rival Southwest DeKalb and earned an important victory. Tae Hardy scored 18 points to lead Miller Grove. Jermon Clark added 10 and Kevin Paige chipped in 8.

No. 8 Riverwood 59, Grady 54: Elijah Dudley scored 20 points to pace the Raiders. Elijah Jenkins had 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Josh Brown posted 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.

No. 9 Warner Robins 65, Houston County 49: Nelson Phillips overwhelmed the Bears with a game-high 26 points. JaColbey Owens scored 21 and Champ Dawson chipped in 6. Houston County was led by Amari Colbert’s 13 points and Jalyn Nelson’s 12.

Clarke Central 71, Johnson-Gainesville 36: Dwon Smith scored 23 points for the Gladiators. Brian Dean (10) and Jack Mangel (9) also contributed.

Arabia Mountain 60, Chamblee 56: Jordan Sterling netted 18 points to carry the Rams.

Lithia Springs 65, Banneker 53: Jahrel Reagan dropped 20 points to lead the Lions. Ceaunte Zachery added 13 and Anthony Hardy had 12. Banneker received 16 points from Shamar Kerangu.

Paulding County 85, Woodland-Cartersville 67: Shihem Mitchell went for 27 points and 10 rebounds to power the Patriots. Tommy Robinson collected 18 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Austin gobbled up 8 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Cass 74, East Paulding 66: CJ Bennett finished with 25 points and Ashton Burley had 16 in the Colonels backcourt.

Class AAAA

No. 2 Upson-Lee 67, West Laurens 40: Even without Zyrice Scott, the Knights pummeled West Laurens. Tye Fagan dropped in 23 points with Middle Tennessee State, Murray State and Mercer in attendance.  Travon Walker posted 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Woodward Academy 71, No. 3 Henry County 70: Hunter Falconer hit a game-winner and finished with 12 points, 3 assists and 4 steals to stun Henry County. Julian Cameron caught fire with 27 points and 3 assists. Brennan McDaniel posted 15 points, 19 rebounds and 3 blocks. In the loss, Damion Rosser scored 24 points and Javon Greene had 18. Kovi Tate chipped in 10.

No. 4 Thomson 76, South Aiken, SC 69: Radaren Johnson pumped in 33 points while Darius Turman added 10.

North Oconee 75, 6ANo. 7 Dacula 72: Matthew Quint exploded for 39 points and Jack Taylor drilled a three at the buzzer to stun the Falcons.

Eastside 64, Druid Hills 51 OT: Keiodre Perry netted 21 points and Desmeontay Dyer posted 12 points and 8 rebounds on the road in a comeback victory.

Blessed Trinity 52, Forsyth Central 40: CJ Abrams scored a team-high 18 points to pace the Titans. Ben Shappard had 13 and Kyle Swade netted 10. CJ Smith led Forsyth Central with 22 points off five threes.

Northwest Whitfield 88, Pickens 54: Grant Terrell was unconscious, pouring in a school-record 11 threes to lead the Bruins. Terrell finished with 35 points. Paxton Pardee had 10 assists. Luke Shiflett had 15 points. Pickens was led by Blake Gorth’s 15 points and 5 rebounds. Seth Bishop added 11 points and Zach Goss tossed in 7.

Class AAA

Central-Macon 79, No. 1 Westside-Macon 74: Antarius McCoy willed the Chargers to a monumental victory in front of a packed house. McCoy dropped 25 points and received help from Duke Williams who had 15. Kylan Hill worked around the basket for 14 points and 9 rebounds. Wanya Thomas finished with 11 points, 5 coming in succession late in the fourth to close out the Seminoles. Former Charger Kentrevious Jones posted 33 points and 16 rebounds. Khavon Moore had 18 points and 7 rebounds. Terric Allen pitched in 10 points.

No. 2 Pace Academy 58, Westminster 38: Wendell Carter finished with 23 points and Isaiah Kelly added 18 as the Knights’ size hurt the Wildcats.

No. 9 Calhoun 59, Ringgold 46: Chapin Rierson scored a team-high 20 points for the Jackets. Malik Lawrence added 15 and Kaylan Aker had 10.

Lovett 70, McNair 52: Crawford Schweiger hit five threes en route to a game-high 26 points.

Class AA

Banks County 57, No. 2 Monticello 52: Kahmal Wiley was too much to handle inside for the guard oriented Hurricanes as Banks County upset No. 2 Monticello. The burly post hung 27 points while fellow big man Dylan Orr chipped in 11 points. Monticello was led by CJ Adams’ 17 points, 4 steals and 4 assists, Ashton Bonner’s 12 points and 4 assists and Jakeir Stone’s 10 points.

No. 9 Chattooga 94, Dade County 86: The Indians survived 14 Wolverine threes and rode Jay Shropshire’s 35-point performance to victory. Isaiah Foster scored 17 and Jay Broome had 10.

Bleckley County 55, Dodge County 52: Dodge County received 16 points from Nick Cummings, 13 from Demonte Ivey and 11 from RJ Carr in a loss.

Temple 79, Central-Carroll 67: Javin Boles was too much to handle, pouring in 33 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

Putnam County 70, Baldwin 66 OT: Carl Johnson wrecked the Braves with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Class A-Private

No. 2 North Cobb Christian 69, Bowdon 45: In the loss, Octavius Meadows scored 27 points and Zaylin Wood added 9.

No. 8 Aquinas 77, Greene County 54: Tre Gomillion went for 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to pace the Irish. Trent Bowdre scored 16 points and Jelani Shakir hung 15 points, 6 assists and 3 steals to his ledger.

No. 3 St. Francis 60, King’s Ridge 50: Wallace Tucker tallied 19 points and 5 assists. Chase Ellis went for 13 points and 13 rebounds. Dwon Odom added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore Eric Coleman poured in 25 points for the Tigers, hitting five threes along the way.

Wesleyan 73, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 50: Sean McDonough continued his recent hot streak, pouring in 28 points to lead the Wolves. Christian McLean netted 17.

Prince Avenue 65, Providence Christian 62: Parker Trump scored 15 points while Connor Allen and Al Dorsey chipped in 11 in the loss.

Class A-Public

Fulton Leadership Academy 45, Elite Scholars 24: Tyrese Berrymon scored 22 points to lift the Gryphons.

Class AAAAAAA

No. 4 Newton 57, South Gwinnett 53: Lexii Chatman buried five threes and finished with 23 points to power the Rams past the Comets. Janelle Cook put in 15 points and Jurnee Smith added 11.

South Forsyth 57, Parkview 47: Zoe Maisel (16), Emily Dreslinski (15) and Olivia Poff (13) all supplied the scoring to help the War Eagles over the Panthers.

Class AAAAAA

No. 2 Mays 62, Alexander 36: Kamiyah Street dropped in 25 points to power the Raiders to a Region 5 victory.

No. 7 Grovetown 65, Richmond Academy 63: College of Charleston-signee Destiny Marshall scored 26 points for the Warriors as Grovetown withstood a 35-point performance out of Troy-signee Jasmine Robinson.

No. 8 Northview 45, Chattahoochee 39: In a battle of Region 7 undefeateds, the Lady Titans received 14 points, 8 steals and 7 blocks from Shannon Titus.

No. 10 Lovejoy 33, No. 5 Jonesboro 31: Saadia Munford scored 13 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop Jonesboro’s slide. The upstart Wildcats now sit at 7-0.

Creekview 53, South Cobb 26: Kennedy Cater totaled 16 points to lead the Grizzlies. Kendel Bennett and Sydney Rumble both had 9 points.

Johns Creek 65, Dunwoody 18: The Gladiators rolled to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 7 under Coach Kirk Call. Sydney Tanguilig finished with 21 points. Markiema Lancaster had 10 points and Ashley Alexander chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds.

Class AAAAA

No. 1 Flowery Branch 60, Cedar Shoals 33: Taniyah Worth posted 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 blocks. Lexie Sengkhammee scored 12 points. Caroline Wysocki finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds and Ashley Woodroffe had 5 points and 5 rebounds.

No. 6 Villa Rica 76, Hiram 30: Deasia Merrill went for 18 points and 10 assists while Aliyah Hindsman added 14 points. Jaila Orozco and Emmy Parham both netted 11.

Class AAAA

No. 1 North Oconee 68, Dacula 55: Emma Weynand posted 23 points and Camryn Williams scored 14.

No. 5 West Hall 72, Grayson 47: Anna McKendree burst out for 37 points in a Spartans rout. Macy Passmore had 15 points and Kinsey Wilson netted 10.

No. 9 Northwest Whitfield 73, Pickens 46: Bria Clemmons led all scorers with 16 points and 4 assists. Jada Griffin grabbed 7 rebounds. Nicole Bates had 11 points and 5 steals. Holly Heath and Chandler Hiland both had 10 points. Jada Griffin grabbed 7 rebounds. For Pickens, Autumn Young scored 13 points and Taylor Wigington finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Central-Carroll 58, Temple 45: Alexis Farley scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Lions. Haley Luke added 14 points and 6 steals while Haley Fehring went for 9 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Temple was led by Ruby Collins’ double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sheniah Swint had 11 points and 4 rebounds. Courtney Caldwell finished with 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Class AAA

No. 1 Johnson-Savannah 70, Jenkins 36: Alexis Pierce pumped in 26 points to lead the Atomsmashers. Olivia Owens (15) and Checobia Hugie (18) also did damage.

Calhoun 75, No. 9 Ringgold 67: The Yellow Jackets earned a high scoring victory over the Tigers, riding Jana Johns’ monster 27-point 18-rebound double-double. Erin Hyatt added support with 16 points while Ashlyn Barnes tacked on 13 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Cassie Henderson went for 11 points and Anna George had 10.

Class AA

No. 3 Rabun County 64, Union County 28: Savanna Scott scored her 1,000th point of her career and led the Wildcats with 17 points and 3 steals. Tessa Matheson added 12 points and 3 steals. Brooke Henricks went for 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Laken Stiles chipped in 9 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.

No. 6 Dodge County 64, Bleckley County 44: Sophomore Destanee Wright led Dodge County with 20 points and Jurnee Powell chipped in 12. Tierra Hamilton cracked double figures with 11.

Class A-Private

No. 9 Pinecrest Academy 68, Mt. Paran 37: Margaret Metz dropped 26 points while sister Regina tossed in 17 to lead the Paladins. Molly Dankowski finished with 9 points.

No. 2 Newton 81, GISAThe Heritage School 58: The Rams steamrolled The Heritage School behind Isaiah Miller’s 20 points. Darvin Jones and Ashton Hagans both scored 14 points. JD Notae added 9.  Heritage was led by Lance Terry’ 17 points.

No. 4 Pebblebrook 86, Douglas County 79: Colin Sexton poured in 41 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Elias Harden went for 17 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Mervin James had 6 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Douglas County was led by Ernest Randle’s 16 points. Rodney Lewis scored 14 and Markell Cistrunk had 11.

No. 7 Collins Hill 71, Woodstock 41: Chris Parks (18), Max Clark (14), Kenny Stanciel (12), JD Ozoh (11) and Justin Lee (10) led a balanced attack against the Wolverines. Woodstock was led by Dylin Hardeman’s 8 points and Cameron Crowe’s 7. Tyreke Johnson was held to just 5 points.

Mountain View 45, Mill Creek 43: Spencer Rodgers and Miles Long both scored 12 points. Uchenna Nwagbara muscled in the game-winner as time expired.

Meadowcreek 50, Parkview 49: Amari Kelly was a man possessed inside for the Mustangs as he posted 25 points and 18 rebounds to knock the Panthers from the ranks of the unbeatens. In the loss, Toneari Lane had 14 points. Cam Chavers and Truitt Spencer both scored 11.

Grayson 57, Discovery 50 OT: In what looks to be a blossoming rivalry, Grayson nipped Discovery for the second time in three meetings already this season. Discovery’s 11-of-27 free throw shooting came back to haunt them. Grayson was led by Travis Anderson’s 16 points and 7 rebounds. Nick Edwards had 13 points and 4 assists. Deali Thompson pitched in 6 points and 7 boards. Jaden Stanley finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds for Discovery. Jaylen Bussey added 9.

North Gwinnett 74, South Forsyth 41: Ethan Smith led the Bulldogs with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Cameron Rowland had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Mikey Joseph went for 12 points and 5 rebounds. Josh Downs and Ryan Smith both finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds, Downs adding 3 steals as well.

Etowah 56, Marist 43: Lewis Simonson went for 16 points while Kam Hickey churned out a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Peachtree Ridge 76, 6ANo. 6 Dacula 71 2OT:  Devin Vassell pitched in 24 points as the Lions outlasted Dacula in double overtime. Kris Collins scored 14 and Hirum Maxey and Connor Heyward both had 11. Fred Payton contributed 9 points.

Class AAAAAA

No. 1 Gainesville 48, 4ANo. 7 St. Pius 43: KJ Buffen went down for the game on the jump ball, injuring his foot on the opening tip, but Gainesville still managed to hold off a tough St. Pius team without their star player. Bailey Minor scored a game-high 18 points and Jarred Rosser added 11. Everett Lane scored 12 and Matt Gonzalo netted 10 in the loss.

No. 2 Jonesboro 65, M.L. King 36: MJ Walker caught fire with 32 points while Brandon Walker scored 12 as the Cardinals stormed past MLK.

No. 5 Langston Hughes 63, Forest Park 41: Landers Nolley scored 14 points while Derrick Cook chipped in 11 in the Panthers’ bounce back win.

No. 7 Alpharetta 48, Dunwoody 46: Dunwoody led for the majority of the game, but Carlos Carierre delivered a tip-in at the buzzer to hand the Raiders their second straight thrilling buzzer beating win. Carriere and David Swillum both scored 7 points. The Raiders were led by Ellis Merriweather’s 14. Dunwoody leaned on their own balance with Turner Nims (11), Ty Lilly (10), Sidi Diallo (8) and Jeff Powell (7) all contributing.

No. 8 Allatoona 92, Sequoyah 46: The Buccaneers picked up their first win of the season by scoring their most points since 2012. Trey Doomes finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Tyler Jackson had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assists and 6 steals. Mike Johnson contributed 10 points and 2 assists.

Alexander 70, McIntosh 68 2OT: Grant Howard finished with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists as the Cougars survived the Chiefs. Zeek Copeland added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Rod Rapley had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Sprayberry 49, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 48: Eddie Figueroa continued his strong play with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for the Yellow Jackets. In the loss, Tahj Keeton went for 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Creekview 56, Osborne 55: Osborne shot 9-of-24 from the foul line and saw it come back and haunt them as KJ Jenkins hit a free throw with three seconds left to beat the Cardinals. Jenkins and Weber Sandlin scored 16 apiece. Chandler Wright added 12. In the loss, LaTrell Tate finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Jacquon Brown had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cambridge 56, Chattahoochee 50: Kamar Robertson led the Bears with 17 points. Caleb Snyder and Jackson Boyea both chipped in 11 apiece.

Stephenson 72, Mundy’s Mill 63: Bryce Latimer finished with 23 points while Julian Larkins poured in 21 as the Jaguars got past the Tigers. Mundy’s Mill received 19 points from Tyre Keith and 11 from Rayquan Brown.

Tucker 86, Drew 55: Joshua Cammon poured in 27 points. Collins Joseph and Nick Watson both finished with 16 points.

Pope 64, Northview 50: AJ Watson had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in the Greyhounds’ region victory.

Class AAAAA

No. 1 Columbia 63, Arabia Mountain 59: Arabia Mountain took the lead at the 5:38 mark of the third quarter and led up until 1:25 left in regulation when Kenton Eskridge tied the game at 57. Jalen Cobb, who scored 10 of his team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, was fouled with seven seconds left and hit both free throws to take a two point lead. Darius Giles raced down the other end of the floor and was fouled with .8 seconds left but missed his first attempt and had to intentionally miss his second but was called for a lane violation. The Rams fouled Cobb one last time and he hit both free throws to seal the game officially. Eskridge finished with 10 points for the Eagles while Giles scored a game-high 19 for Arabia Mountain.

No. 3 Buford 77, North Oconee 50: Marcus Watson finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. David Viti added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Alex Jones collected 7 points and 7 assists.

No. 4 Miller Grove 61, Chamblee 56: Tae Hardy scored a team-high 18 points for the Wolverines as they avoided an early season upset. Jermon Clark (12), Maurice Harvey (11) and Jalen Mason (8) all played pivotal roles.

No. 6 Eagle’s Landing 51, Union Grove 47: Upstart Union Grove nearly caught the Eagles but didn’t have enough gas in the tank. Brandon Thomas led Eagle’s Landing with 11 points. CJ Hood and Tee Evans scored 9 apiece.

No. 7 Southwest DeKalb 82, Clarkston 52: Tabais Long scored a team-high 15 points while Mandarius Dickerson and Darius Hogan each pitched in 12 points. James Glisson added 10.

No. 8 Fayette County 79, 4ANo. 3 Henry County 65: Furman-signee Noah Gurley went off for 31 points and 5 rebounds. Joshua Dupree had 19 points while Phillip Young finished with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Austin Nesmith had 4 points and 11 assists. Javon Greene was held to 19 points after throwing in 57 at Holiday Hoopsgiving. Seth Brown pitched in 17.

Effingham County 65, No. 9 New Hampstead 64: Jaden Rodriguez netted 12 of his team-high 26 points in the fourth quarter to upset the Phoenix. Kha’leed Stapleton pitched in 13 points and Demonte Lee had 10 to help the Rebels. New Hampstead received 25 points from Oronte Anderson. Roemain Bennett had 13 and Calvin Turner netted 5.

Stockbridge 89, Ola 40: Kavonte Ivery dropped in 24 points to lead the Tigers. Quintus Evans scored 15 points and Raheem Ramsay added 12.

Walnut Grove 60, Lanier 52: RJ Selman scored 14 points but it was sophomore Jailen Robinson leading the way, hitting 5-of-5 from deep and finishing with 18 points.

Flowery Branch 70, Winder-Barrow 33: Blake Coxworth and Caleb Murphy scored 14 points apiece in the Falcons’ romp of Winder-Barrow. Brannon Clark had 12 points and 5 rebounds while Justin Quick chipped in 10 points.

Loganville 69, Apalachee 53: The Wildcats were upset by the Red Devils as Jamar Moore finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Akil Covington netted 11 points in the win. Ethan Morris scored 12 points and had 3 assists for Apalachee. Derek Miller posted 9 points and 10 rebounds. Omer Ahmed chipped in 7 points and Brandon Bannis dished out 5 assists.

Paulding County 77, Mt. Paran 64: Vance Anderson scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds while Braylon Sherfield added 14 for the Patriots.

Villa Rica 78, Chapel Hill 57: After trailing 32-28 at the half, Villa Rica turned on the afterburners to blitz past the Panthers. Latrell Swanigan scored 19 of his team-high 21 points in the second half. Rodney Thomas and Nigel Taylor both poured in 15 points.

Kell 65, Lassiter 43: Jahwan Smith went for 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in Kell’s win over Lassiter.

Class AAAA

No. 2 Upson Lee 77, 1ANo. 2 Crawford County 66: Five Knights finished in double figures led by Tye Fagan’s 24 points. Zyrice Scott added 12 points and 5 assists while big man Travon Walker went for 13 points and 11 boards. The home loss was just Crawford County’s second at home since 2014.

No. 6 LaGrange 64, Woodward Academy 57: Laperion Perry scored 21 points and Bo Russell had 14 as the Grangers held off a scrappy War Eagle team. Bryan Fanning (12), Gabe Duckett (10) and Jerious Freeman (7) also did damage.  Julian Cameron scored a game-high 24 for Woodward Academy.

No. 8 Richmond Academy 56, GISAWestminster-Augusta 50: Richmond Academy continued to impress, this time beating a talented Westminster team. Moses Williams scored 15 points while DT Stephens added 12. Jason Weaver netted 10. For Westminster, Mike Dukes of Georgia Bulls fame put in a game-high 23 points. Jelani Watson-Gayle tossed in 17.

No. 9 Westover 87, Albany 73 OT: Westover finally broke out in overtime to shake a pesky Albany team on the road. Kris Garner finished with 25 points and 7 assists while Jordan “Snow” Brown added 18 points. Jamarea Grier (16) and Quin Smith (15) came up big as well.

LaFayette 71, Pickens 46: Seth Bishop had 12 points and 5 rebounds while Avery Luke chipped in 9 points and 3 rebounds in a loss to the Ramblers. Zach Goss pitched in 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Madison County 70, Hart County 63: Tay Howard dropped in 21 points for the Red Raiders.

Northwest Whitfield 57, Ringgold 53: Luke Shiflett powered the Bruins with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Cedartown 62, Woodland-Cartersville 51: Quan Neal led the Bulldogs with 18 points. In the loss, Trevor Knowles scored 13 points and Justice Hayes chipped in 10.

No. 1 Westside-Macon 93, First Presbyterian 50: Khavon Moore had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Kentrevious Jones posted 15 points and 4 rebounds. Trey Foster chipped in 10 points and Samone Reed had 13.

No. 2 Pace Academy 65, Towers 49: Wendell Carter was too much to handle, posting 24 points for the Knights. Myles Todd added 14 and Isaiah Kelly had 12 in the win.

No. 7 Jenkins 82, Southeast Bulloch 67: Zion Williams scored 16 points and Trevion Lamar added 14 as the Warriors picked up their first win of the season.

No. 10 Islands 79, Savannah 64: Trae Broadnax busted out for 38 points in the Sharks win on the coast.

Calhoun 59, Murray County 19: Chapin Rierson led the Yellow Jackets with 12 points and 5 rebounds in a season opening win. Ryan Randall, Rhett Abernathy and Malik Lawrence all scored 7 points. Kaylan Aker posted 8 points and 5 rebounds.

North Hall 50, White County 38: Alec Volle and Evan Easton both scored 13 points to help the Trojans over White County. Justin Rabb scored 11 in the win.

No. 10 Toombs County 81, Long County 77: D.R. Meadows and LJ Sims both scored 24 points as Toombs County moved to 4-0. Jalen Mobley added 12 points.

Dodge County 67, Telfair County 62 OT: Juniors Readell Hunt and Nick Cummings carried the Indians past Telfair County scoring 26 and 23 points, respectively.

No. 3 St. Francis 67, No. 6 Lakeview Academy 64: The young Knights slipped out of Hall County with a win. Freshman Dwon Odom notched 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Odom hit two free throws with 4.6 seconds left to secure the win. Senior Wallace Tucker went for 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Chase Ellis, another freshman, had 13 points and 9 rebounds. The Lions were led by Tre Gober’s 17 points. Josh Randolph netted 12 and Drew Cottrell chipped in 10.

King’s Ridge 60, Pinecrest Academy 40: Sean Flanigan finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists while Kameron Dozier (8) and Andrew Parkin (10) helped the Tigers roll. The Paladins were led by Hank Lynch’s 13 points and Ben Gobbel’s 11.

Walker 82, Excel Christian 33: Nick Robinson dropped in a game-high 21 points and Jake Shore netted 14 to power the Walker Wolverines. Excel got 11 points from Jordan Wilkie and 7 from Levi Blackwell.

Stratford Academy 62, Georgia Military 53: Nate Brooks muscled his way to 34 points and 10 rebounds. Nathan Hunt pitched in 6 points and 12 boards. GMC was led by Malik Foston’s 21 points.

No. 6 Jonesboro 53, M.L. King 40: Elon-signee Saadia Munford scored 19 points while Maiya Frazier chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds to beat MLK. Tenay Minus netted 12 points in the win.

No. 8 Northview 52, Pope 34: The Lady Titans crushed Pope in their Region opener. Ashlee Austin (16), Maya Richards (14) and Shannon Titus (12) overpowered the Greyhounds.

No. 9 Sequoyah 65, Allatoona 27: Alyssa Cagle erupted for 28 points and 3 assists. Colby Carden played an all-around game with 12 points, 4 assists and 6 steals. Lauren Schletty grabbed 8 rebounds and had 4 assists.

Gainesville 58, St. Pius 50: Taylor Hawks poured in a game-high 24 points and Tija Blackwell added 11 to hold off the Golden Lions who trailed by as many as 14 points in the third quarter. Macey Carson led St. Pius with 16 points while Kathryn McKenzie posted 7 points and 14 rebounds.

Centennial 57, North Atlanta 34: Shekinah Guthrie dropped in a game-high 20 points as the Lady Knights earned a region victory. Aerial Nathan scored 11 and Kara Hart added 9 points.

Lovejoy 58, Mt. Zion-Jonesboro 22: Freshman Anaya Boyd went for 14 points and 6 rebounds in Lovejoy’s Region 4 victory.

Taniyah Worth poured in 22 points, 3 steals and 2 blocks in the win. Queen Scott scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Lexie Sengkhammee netted 9 points. Caroline Wysocki chipped in 6 points and 4 assists.

No. 6 Villa Rica 70, Chapel Hill 62: Jaila Orozco poured in 22 points followed by Deasia Merrill’s 18 points and 12 rebounds as Villa Rica edged Chapel Hill.

No. 10 Loganville 46, Apalachee 29: Aryanna Gerald scored a team-high 11 points while Imani Arnold and Milana Woods both finished with 10.

Pickens 64, LaFayette 26: Mykenzie Weaver led the Nettes with 19 points and 4 rebounds. Mackenzie Hampton added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Taylor Wigington produced 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Cedartown 55, Woodland-Cartersville 40: In the loss, Madgie Robinson collected 11 points and 4 rebounds for the Wildcats. Leah Stantz had 8 points while McKenzie Hobbs scored 6 and Carli Clymer tallied 6 assists.

Cartersville 44, Sonoraville 41: Kimora McClinic scored a game-high 18 for the Hurricanes as they slipped past Sonoraville after trailing at the end of each of the first three quarters. Grace Darnell scored 13 points in the loss for the Phoenix.

No. 1 Johnson-Savannah 83, Groves 20: Alexis Pierce and Sy-Marieona Williams poured in 21 points apiece while Olivia Owens pitched in 20 points in the Atomsmashers’ blowout.

No. 7 Calhoun 74, Murray County 36: The Yellow Jackets stung the Indians behind Jana Johns’ 20-point effort. Cassie Henderson picked up a 19-point 12-rebound double-double. Ashlyn Barnes scored 10 points.

No. 4 Rabun County 60, Union County 47: Three Lady Cats scored in double figures led by Brooke Henricks’ 17 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals. Savanna Scott had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals. Tessa Matheson added 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals.

Excel Christian 42, Walker 41: Whitney Harris (13) and Kalli Beth Scheff (11) helped the Eagles slip by Walker. Rylie Boston finished with 9 points and 20 rebounds.  Walker received 19 points from Saige Cormick-Turpin and Madeline Daniel added 13.

No. 5 Telfair County 66, 2ANo. 7 Dodge County 64: Dodge County dropped a close one after being led by senior Jurnee Powell’s 17 points. Destanee Wright scored 12 and Bresha Carr had 11.

Isaac Okoro had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Babatunde Akingbola was a difference maker inside with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks. Tre Peoples added 8 points. Mike Johnson led all scorers with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals for Allatoona. Trey Doomes finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. Jeremiah Sanabria gave good minutes with 3 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.

Hillgrove 73, 6ANo. 9 Alexander 58: DeMierre Black pitched in 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals in an upset of Class 6A No. 9 Alexander. Antoine Jones added 9 points and 5 assists in the win. Damion Howell had 14 points and 5 rebounds to lead Alexander. Grant Howard pitched in 10 points and Raheem Fulling had 8.

Mill Creek 71, Stephenson 60: Christian Mancillas earned Cleveland Stroud All-Tournament honors and powered the Hawks to another win, scoring 26 points in the process.

South Gwinnett 76, Woodstock 70: D’onte Torrence filled it up, scoring 25 points and grabbing 8 rebounds to lead the Comets a win at the Parkview Thanksgiving Tournament and to a 3-1 mark. Brent Latham dropped in 18 points as well. Dylin Hardeman led Woodstock in scoring with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Tyreke Johnson was held to 13 points. Quentin Doby scored 12 and Cameron Crowe finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Peachtree Ridge 58, Tucker 56: Fred Payton scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to help the Lions hang on against the Tigers at the Jared Cook Classic. Devin Vassell scored 11 and Shaz Molu, Hirum Maxey and Kris Collins all scored 9 in the win. Jevon Tatum scored a game-high 14 for Tucker while Joseph Collins added 9.

Grayson 60, Discovery 54: Grayson got some early season revenge, knocking off Discovery for the Lanier Thanksgiving Classic Championship. Travis Anderson had 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Nick Edwards finished with 10 points and 4 assists while Aaron Rowe did a little bit of everything with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Discovery was led by Keshawn Overstreet’s 14 points and 7 rebounds. DJ Young scored 14 and Jaylen Bussey netted 11. Kalu Ezikpe finished with 11 point and 7 rebounds.

Parkview 87, North Springs 81 2OT: Starting a freshman, three sophomores and one junior, Parkview outlasted North Springs to win the Parkview Thanksgiving Tournament Championship. Sophomore Truitt Spencer scored 20, junior Cam Chavers had 17 and freshman Toneari Lane netted 16 to advance the Panthers to 4-0. North Springs junior Vinnie Viana dropped in 33.

South Forsyth 56, Marist 41: Evan Cole scored 19 points and Santhosh Saravanan had 18 to lift the War Eagles.

Marietta 91, Campbell 81 OT: Marietta rallied from down 31-9 at the end of one and down 47-34 at the half to score an improbable comeback victory. Tyree Crankfield, fresh off a school-record 45 points, dropped in 36 more for Campbell. The Blue Devils countered with Kharon Cameron (23) and Fionn Brown (20) to get back in the game. Ramel Keyton scored all 11 of his points in the fourth quarter and overtime for Marietta.

Etowah 65, North Gwinnett 49: Adrian Cohen burst out for 17 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in the Eagles’ Jared Cook Classic victory. Julian Baldwin had 14 points, 10 rebounds and 1 block. Lewis Simonson hit five threes en route to 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

No. 3 South Paulding 87, Paulding County 53: Georgia State signee Kane Williams displayed his all-around floor game, going for 21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals in a rout. DJ Jackson tossed in 11 points and 5 assists. JaCori Wilson, one of the top unsigned forwards in the state standing at 6-foot-7, contributed 18 points and 5 rebounds.

No. 4 Langston Hughes 105, Northside-Columbus 65: Langston Hughes took out its frustrations on an unexpecting Northside-Columbus team after leading by just nine at the half. Landers Nolley exploded for 50 points (9 threes) and 7 rebounds while Khalil Cuffee had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Derrick Cook chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.

No. 7 Dacula 70, Brookwood 64: Arusha Hunter went for 27 points and 12 rebounds as the Falcons dispatched of Brookwood at the Jared Cook Classic. Mekhail Bethea added 17 points and 7 assists while Shayne Buckingham did his work inside, posting 12 points and 8 rebounds. Brookwood was led by Bubba Parham’s 24 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds and Trae Higginbotham’s 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Amari Kelley scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

No. 8 Alpharetta 70, Johns Creek 53: Jaycee Horn won Progressive Lighting Tournament MVP after pitching in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals in Alpharetta’s championship game. Ryan Jenei had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jalen Young chipped in 8 points and 4 steals. Sophomore Brandon Barron contributed 11 points and 6 assists.

Creekview 83, Northview 51: Creekview buried 13 threes to bomb Northview for a 32-point win. Weber Sandlin hit five threes while KJ Jenkins drained four as the backcourt members both netted 18 points. Chandler Wright had 12 points and four blocks.

Harrison 55, Stone Mountain 53: Coach Clay Crump rode a balanced offense to sneak past the Pirates. Tate Coston (14), Chris Brown (11), Justin Matthews (10) and Juwan Owens (8) carried the load offensively.

Apalachee 70, Hebron Christian 62: Derek Miller dominated the paint for Apalachee, finishing with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 7 blocks. Omer Ahmed added 12 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. Parker Miller had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Deron Collier scored 9 points and Ethan Morris tallied 5 points, 3 steals and 3 assists.

Winder-Barrow 60, Johnson-Gainesville 48: Marcus Jones scored 18 points and Dwayne Wilson had a 13-point 17-rebound double-double in a loss to the Bulldoggs.

Sprayberry 74, Chapel Hill 73: Rodney Pearson poured in 28 points and Eddie Figueroa finished with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals as the Yellow Jacket’s potent backcourt lifted them to a win at the Marietta Turkey Classic.

No. 1 Columbia 82, Druid Hills 38: Columbia got back in the win column by overpowering Druid Hills. Lorenzo McGhee had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kevon Eskridge went for 11 points and 4 assists while AJ Bey pitched in 11 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.

No. 2 Cedar Shoals 69, Oconee County 34: Charleston Southern signee Phlan Fleming dropped in 21 points while running mate Snipe Hall added 13.

No. 3 Buford 75, Cambridge 51: Alex Jones orchestrated the Wolves to a 24-point victory. Jones finished with 19 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Tobi Obasanya had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Donell Nixon added 11 points and Austin Panks chipped in 10. David Viti collected 9 points and 5 rebounds.

No. 9 Southwest DeKalb 65, 7ANo. 10 Collins Hill 61 OT: Four players scored in double figures for Collins Hill but the Eagles ran out of juice in the Cleveland Stroud Classic Championship down the stretch after knocking off 5A No. 1 Columbia the night before. Kenny Stanciel (15), Justin Lee, JD Ozoh (12) and Max Clark (11) paced the attack, Stanciel and Lee being selected to the All-Tournament Team. Mandarius Dickerson scored a game-high 17 for Southwest DeKalb as the Panthers used 10 threes to stay ahead of Collins Hill. Quincy Carter scored 13 points and Kadarius Johnson added 12. Tabias Long and Darius Hogan were named to the All-Tournament Team. Dickerson was named Tournament MVP.

No. 10 Riverwood 89, East Jackson 52: Elijah Jenkins scored 17 points and tallied 4 rebounds and 7 assists to power the Raiders. Josh Brown had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Charnchai Chantha chipped in 9 points, 10 assists and 3 steals. Rudy Fitzgibbons added 13 points and Elijah Dudley 18 in the win.

Flowery Branch 85, Chestatee 32: The Falcons used a 42-5 run and a 24-0 third quarter to run Chestatee out of the gym. John Mills had 19 points and Myles Janess produced 15 points and 5 rebounds. Justin Quick and Patsheko Lutumba both scored 11 points apiece. Blake Coxworth chipped in 9 points.

Grady 84, Harris County 76: DJ Brittian ran wild, posting 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Kolby Morton added 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. In the loss, 6-foot-7 post Aquavious Fanning had 20 points and Tailique Williams netted 27.

Starr’s Mill 57, Lanier 55: Zach Pina scored a game-high 17 points to pace the Panthers. Nick Karli added 13 and Drew Hudson scored 10. Lanier’s Adrian Martin was held to 10 points.

Union Grove 52, Walnut Grove 37: Jailen Robinson scored 14 points in a loss.

No. 5 Henry County 82, Banneker 72: Javon Greene poured in 23 points while Damion Rosser recovered from injury. Casey Armour (13), Josh Steele (10) and Sadonte Lindley (9) all pitched in. Lindley also recorded 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals. Tre’Von Pope scored 15 and Shamar Karangu had 11 to lead Banneker.

No. 6 LaGrange 75, Houston County 44: Amari Colbert posted 15 points and 8 rebounds in a loss for the Bears. Houston County was held to 30% shooting from the field. LaGrange was led by Quez Jackson’s 12 points and Kenan Gray’s 10.

No. 7 St. Pius 50, Dawson County 36: St. Pius leapt out to a 13-0 lead and led wire-to-wire against Dawson County. Zach Ranson finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Matt Gonzalo notched 6 assists for the Golden Lions. Cullen Reed scored a team-high 17 points for the Tigers.

White County 69, Franklin County 49: John Ward scored a team-high 21 points as White County rolled Franklin County. Clay Dockery netted 15 and Austin Harris scored 11. Jay Lepkoske (10) and Austin Rowland (9) also cracked the scoresheet.

Cartersville 61, Northwest Whitfield 45: Jaylon Pugh poured in 21 and Perignon Dyer netted 20 as the Hurricanes blew by the Bruins. Luke Shiflett powered Northwest with 16 points and 5 steals.

Gilmer 55, Pickens 54: Chase Simmons scored 16 points and pulled down 6 rebounds but the Dragons were defeated by their rival Bobcats. Joseph Gossett had 11 points and Seth Bishop finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

No. 7 Greater Atlanta Christian 69, Jefferson 37: Hunter McIntosh netted 17 points and Air Force signee Charlie O’Briant pitched in 16 as GAC earned third place in the Tabo Tip-Off Tournament held at Jefferson.

Fannin County 61, Hiwassee Dam, NC 42: Clay Ware scored 19 points and Logan Holt had 17 as the Rebels won the ETC Tournament.

North Hall 83, Providence Christian 62: Evan Easton was too much to handle for the Storm, scoring a game-high 30 points. Taylor Hanson (14), Noah Holman (11) and Justin Rabb (10) all cracked double figures as well. Parker Trump led Providence Christian with 18 points followed by Connor Allen’s 12 and Mitchell Miller’s 11.

Spartanburg Christian, SC 60, No. 4 Monticello 59: Ashton Bonner went for 24 points and 4 assists in a loss at the Impact Sports Invitational. CJ Adams had 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Washington 59, Jackson County 54: Jackson County received 22 points from Christian Smith in a loss.

No. 1 Greenforest 67, Mountain View 49: After Mountain View cut the Greenforest lead to 39-30 heading into the fourth quarter, Greenforest put its foot on the gas. Mike Evans got in on the action with 9 points and 4 assists. Mountain View was led by Spencer Rodgers’ 13 points. Miles Long and Brandon Green both scored 11 points.

No. 6 Lakeview Academy 95, East Hall 79: Lakeview Academy won the Piedmont College Hardwood Classic Championship in convincing fashion. Drew Cottrell was named Tournament MVP after pouring in 31 points in the title game. Tre Gober netted 24 and All-Tournament Team memeber Josh Randolph went for 20 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Class AAAAAAA

North Forsyth 45, No. 7 Cherokee 39: North Forsyth won the Progressive Lighting Holiday Classic on their home floor as the Raiders dispatched of Cherokee. Cassie Markle finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Bella Caracciolo chipped in 6 points and 7 rebounds as North Forsyth moves to 6-0.

Class AAAAAA

No. 6 Northview 40, Creekview 27: Northview bounced back at the Progressive Lighting Holiday Classic and placed third with a win over Creekview. Ashlee Austin had 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Shannon Titus finished with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 6 blocks. Asjah Innis went for 8 points and 5 assists.

Johns Creek 45, Alpharetta 33: Ashley Alexander led a balanced Gladiator attack with 13 points followed by Sydney Tanguilig and Markeima Lancaster’s 12 apiece to claim fifth place at the North Forsyth Thanksgiving Tournament.

Cambridge 31, Peachtree Ridge 24: Eliza Snyder scored 12 points and Sierra Sieracki had 8 while Raegan Dunwoodie paced the defense with 10 deflections to disrupt the Peachtree Ridge offense. Jalea Gray had 9 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

Class AAAAA

No. 6 Warner Robins 53, Valdosta 50: Shynia Jackson posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, as did Le’Terria Mathis with 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Demonettes slipped past Valdosta. Kezia Holmes scored 13 points and Victoria Brown went 6-of-8 from the line in the final two minutes to secure a Warner Robins victory.

No. 9 Loganville 30, 6ANo. 1 Winder-Barrow 29: Loganville grinded away at Winder-Barrow and handed the No. 1 ranked 6A team in the state their second consecutive loss to a Class 5A school. Seniors Daijah Cousins and Destiny Flott  scored 9 apiece for the Red Devils while Imani Arnold and Aryanna Gerald both scored 5. Winder-Barrow star center Olivia Nelson-Ododa was held to just 6 points. Latrice Perkins led the Bulldoggs with 9 points. Jakayala Sullivan and Lexi Maddox both scored 5 in the loss.

Class AAAA

No. 3 North Oconee 50, Clarke Central 47: Emma Weynand scored 16 points and Camryn Williams added 15 as the dynamic duo helped the Lady Titans survive Clarke Central.

St. Pius 58, Dawson County 33: The Tigers fell to 0-4 on the season after a tough slate at the North Forsyth Thanksgiving Tournament. Abi Chatham led Dawson County with 11 points. St. Pius rushed out to a 27-9 lead after one and cruised the rest of the way. Melat Endashaw had 11 points while Macey Carson and Kathryn McKenzie scored 10 apiece and both Leah Middleton and Emma Drash chipped in 8.

Oconee County 39, Cedar Shoals 32: Freshman Sybille Foucart pumped in 21 points to lead the Warriors. Ansley Hart added 7.

Gilmer 64, Pickens 62: Mykenzie Weaver scored 24 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a loss. Torie Williams pitched in 14 points and Taylor Wigington had 8 points and 5 assists.

Class AAA

No. 1 Johnson-Savannah 49, Brunswick 37: Jacksonville-signee Alexis Pierce carried the Atomsmashers with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

No. 4 Calhoun 55, Allatoona 51: Calhoun bounced back from a loss to Rome behind another big game from South Carolina softball signee Jana Johns. She poured in 22 points and 8 rebounds while Ashlyn Barnes netted 12 points. Cassie Henderson grabbed 14 rebounds.

Franklin County 82, White County 64: Ivey Ginn exploded for 32 points. Asia Jones netted 19 and Maddie Moorhead scored 14 in Coach Tony Watkins’ potent offense.

Class AA

Elbert County 36, Jackson County 31: Jackson County fell to Class AA Elbert County. Logan Cook led the Panthers with 11 points.

Class A-Private

No. 9 Lakeview Academy 67, 2ANo. 3 Rabun County 60: Rabun County trailed by 14 early and could never quite get over the hump, losing to Lakeview Academy in the Piedmont College Hardwood Classic Championship. Savanna Scott finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Brooke Henricks had 12 points and 4 rebounds while Georgia Stockton pitched in 10 points and 3 steals. Star guard Hanna Grogan carried the Lions with 18 points in the win. Christen Copeland had 14 and Ryann Moody added 12.

Early season “upsets” challenge state rankings

Not even two weeks into the season and holiday tournaments and other non-region games across the state have put the Top 10 rankings to the test. With teams still trying to gain their footing on the young season some games are more of upsets than others. Accolades and preseason rankings have already proven to not matter much once the ball is tipped. Here are a few of the most interesting results from a full Monday of action.

BOYS

Lowndes 64, 2ANo. 2 Thomasville 51
Am I reading this score correctly? If so, Thomasville, who went 28-2 last year, is now 0-2 to start the year after opening as the state’s No. 1 team in Class AA. The Bulldogs were humbled by Class 7A Tift County 75-40 and now drop to Lowndes. Ever since the Bulldogs were smacked in the Elite Eight against Pace Academy 78-48, I just don’t know what to believe anymore, especially without Jordan Willis leading the charge at point. Reggie Perry has been described as a future “NBA Lottery Pick”, but if that’s the case, I don’t understand how the 6-foot-8 Arkansas-commit isn’t carrying this team on his back. Don’t forget 6-foot-9 Titus Wright is also receiving high major offers. No excuses for a 35-point loss and a 13-point loss to a team you should overwhelm with your D-I size. I’m hovering my hand over the panic button because I thought highly of this team last year and this season, only to be left searching for answers.

South Forsyth 70, 5ANo. 10 Riverwood 61
UNCW-signee Evan Cole carried the War Eagles with 39 points while Isaiah Magee added eight. Embry-Riddle signee did the best he could to lift the Raiders, pouring in 26 points. Charnchai Chantha added six points and 10 assists but the 6-foot-8 Cole was too much to handle.

Dorman, SC 86, 2ANo. 4 Monticello 57
This one wasn’t too much of an upset as the South Carolina power rolled over a smaller scrappy Monticello team. Ashton Bonner finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. CJ Adams collected 13 points, four assists and six steals. This was a classic learning experience as Monticello entered as a heavy underdog with their enrollment of 700 playing against South Carolina’s largest school, Dorman, who boasts 3,400 students.

7ANo. 10 Collins Hill 54, 5ANo. 1 Columbia 51
A front-end miss of a 1-and-1 helped Collins Hill hold off Columbia in a great game. Top 10 matchups can’t really be considered too much of an upset especially with a higher classification beating a lower one, but still, when a No. 1 team gets beaten, it’s big news.

GIRLS

Hillgrove 66, 7ANo. 8 Brookwood 53
Hillgrove always has talent. They might not be what they once were, but they are still a tough team and let Brookwood know firsthand. Hillgrove’s only losses so far have come to Class 7A No. 1 Norcross and Class A-Private No. 2 Wesleyan. They have already beaten Class 3A No. 5 GAC and now Brookwood. They held Texas A&M-signee N’Dea Jones to 11 points and eight rebounds (she did have six blocks however). With a couple more strong performances, Hillgrove should crack the Top 10 and this one probably won’t end up being a bad loss for Brookwood.

5ANo. 2 Flowery Branch 55, 6ANo. 1 Winder-Barrow 46
This was a great game between evenly matched opponents. Flowery Branch got 12 points and four rebounds from North Georgia-signee Julianne Sutton as she battled the No. 1 ranked post player in the nation, Olivia Nelson-Ododa, who finished with a game-high 18 points. Versatile X-factor Taniyah Worth had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists while Lexie Sengkhammee scored 10 points and Caroline Wysocki pitched in eight points and six rebounds to take down the Bulldoggs. The two schools will meet twice more, on Nov. 29 at Flowery Branch and Jan. 3 at Winder-Barrow.

Rome 74, 3ANo. 4 Calhoun 65
Rome won 18 games last year but lost by 43 in the first round of state to eventual champion Southwest DeKalb. The battle tested 5A school rode post player Taya Gibson’s 31 points to edge past Calhoun using a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to put it out of reach. Re’tavia Floyd netted 16 to flank Gibson. Calhoun received 25 from Ashlyn Barnes and 23 from Jana Johns in the loss. This one will sting right now, but Rome is a larger school with a good group coming back.

North Forsyth 45, 6ANo. 6 Northview 30
The Titans rose four spots in this week’s poll but quickly saw their Forsyth County nightmares reappear. North Forsyth has now won eight straight against Northview and managed to control the game and play the style they wanted as the Raiders negated the Titans’ size advantage. North Forsyth is 5-0 to begin the year and is on the verge of busting down the door to crack the Class 7A rankings.

No. 2 Pebblebrook 49, Dillard, FL 40: Xavier signee Elias Harden scored a game-high 16 points and Alabama signee Collin Sexton tossed in 11 to hold off Dillard and Florida State signee RaiQuan Gray’s 15 points.

No. 5 Newton 83, 4ANo. 1 Henry County 67: Jacksonville signee JD Notae scored 17 points and Isaiah Miller and Darvin Jones both had 15 as the Rams overpowered Class AAAA No. 1 Henry County after leading 30-8 after the first quarter and 46-29 at the half. Damion Rosser (New Orleans) led Henry County with 16 points before rolling his ankle. George Mason signee Javon Greene had 13.

Mountain View 76, Evans 43: Mountain View steamrolled Evans at the Evans Tip-off Tournament. Spencer Rodgers scored a team-high 15 points and added 3 steals. Miles Long chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Uchenna Nwagbara flirted with a double-double, posting 12 points and 9 rebounds. The Bears meet Class AA No. 7 Butler tomorrow morning.

Forsyth Central 57, Lassiter 36: Ethan Hester went for 19 points and 8 rebounds while CJ Smith netted 13 points.

Class AAAAAA

No. 9 Alpharetta 67, North Forsyth 47: Head Coach Jason Dasigner got his first win on the sidelines at Alpharetta. The Raiders led 41-19 at the half behind Brandon Barron’s 20 points. The sophomore finished with 23 on the night. David Swillum chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. Carlos Carriere, fresh off the football field, had 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Creekview 74, Brewbaker Tech, AL 69: Creekview’s backcourt powered the Grizzlies. KJ Jenkins scored 18 and Weber Sandlin added 17. Cole Mikes chipped in 16 points and drew two charges. Desmond Williams led Brewbaker Tech with 28 points.

Osborne 64, North Atlanta 53: Latrell Tate went for 18 points and Kaylin Davis poured in a team-high 20 to lift the Cardinals. Jermaine Thompson added 9 points.

Cambridge 50, Walton 45:  Caleb Snyder and Noah Lucas netted 11 points apiece while Ryan Kulaga chipped in 9 points in a Bears win.

River Ridge 70, Pickens 54:  Chris Simmons and Noah Fitzgerald scored 13 apiece while Destin Exinor added 10 to defeat Pickens. The Knights held Pickens scoreless in the third quarter, ballooning a 34-29 halftime lead to a 50-29 advantage. Pickens was led by Joseph Gossett (12) and Zach Goss (10). Blake Gorth had 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Class AAAAA

No. 10 Riverwood 71, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 36: Senior guard Charnchai Chantha powered the Raiders from his guard position, totaling 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Josh Brown added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Rudy Fitzgibbons had 10 points and 7 steals.

Flowery Branch 59, Chattahoochee 38: The Falcons caught fire from deep, sinking 12 total threes on the night and added 15 steals defensively all without Brannon Clark and Dalton Gerdts. Patsheko Lutumba nailed four threes and finished with a team-high 14 points. Both Justin Quick and Caleb Murphy scored 12 points. Blake Coxworth chipped in 5 points and 7 assists.

Walnut Grove 63, Social Circle 25: Jailen Robinson scored 13 points, Dashun Smith scored 12 and RJ Selman chipped in 10 for the Warriors in a season opening win.

South Effingham 83, Groves 61: Derrick Newberry poured in 23 points to lead the Mustangs while Ryan McGee (14) and Makenly Newbill (12) also had strong games.

Class AAAA

Richmond Academy 63, Woodward Academy 38: Vontrez Roberts led 10 Musketeers that scored with 11 points. Moses Williams scored 10, DT Stephens added 8 and Isaiah Williams and Jason Weaver both pitched in 7 points apiece. Junior Malik Poindexter led Woodward with 10 points while Brennan McDaniel added 8 points and 8 rebounds. The War Eagles shot just 24%  and had 16 turnovers.

Class AAA

Redan 62, Monroe Area 54: Tyonn Stuckey went for 21 points, 8 assists and 4 steals in an impressive road win. Tremayne Anderson had 15 points and 8 rebounds. William Littles contributed 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

Class A-Private

No. 5 St. Francis 71, Roswell 53: St. Francis’ youth overwhelmed Roswell. Freshmen Dwon Odom and Chase Ellis had big games. Odom finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Ellis went for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Sophomores CJ Riley and Sean Paradise poured in 15 and 13 points respectively. Sophomore guard Miles Herron led all scorers with 24 for Roswell.

Hebron Christian 67, Mt. de Sales 62: John Stewart scored 18 and Connor Almon scored 17 to power the Lions attack. Troy Allen chipped in 11 in the win.

Galloway 82, Providence Christian 59:  A young Providence Christian team received 15 points from Al Dorsey and 13 from Parker Trump in a loss.

GICAAMt. Bethel Christian 71, Paideia 50: Jordan Meka, a 6-foot-7 freshman, collected 16 points and 10 blocks in a GICAA-GHSA early season showdown. Sophomore Coleman Boyd had 19 points and junior Jaquez Gilbert had 17 in the Hoops for the Cure Classic victory.

Class A-Public

(Scrimmage) No. 1 Wilkinson County 107, Central-Macon 105 2OT: In a scrimmage for the ages, No. 1 Wilkinson County held off a game Chargers group. Clarence Jackson went off for 37 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Antarius McCoy carried Central-Macon with 38 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Tyrice Paul added 24 in the loss.

Class AAAAAAA

Dacula 52, North Gwinnett 47: Kandy Brown posted an 11-point, 12-rebound, 11-block triple-double to carry the Falcons past the Lady Bulldogs. Kendall Bollmer netted 20 points and Helena Lee had 13 in the win. Jessica Belcher led North Gwinnett with 12 points while Alanni Brown chipped in 10 points.

Mountain View 52, Greenbrier 32: Kamryn Collins scored 16 points and Alea Spears had 12 in the Bears’ victory in the Wolfpack Tip-off Classic.

Class AAAAAA

No. 8 Sequoyah 58, Woodward Academy 35: Alyssa Cagle scored 11 points, dished out 7 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds. Peyton Satterfield netted 15 points. Gabi Latimer had 6 points and 10 rebounds while Lauren Schletty had 6 points 9 rebounds. Colby Carden chipped in 7 points and 4 assists.

Lovejoy 54, Hampton 10: Taylor Borum outscored the Lady Hornets by herself, tallying 11 points and 6 rebounds.

River Ridge 57, Pickens 43: Pickens dropped their first game of the young year to the Knights. In the loss Shelby Cook had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Mykenzie Weaver had 9 points and 3 steals.

Lanier 60, Landmark Christian 25: Bailey Bassett paced the Longhorns with 14 points and 4 steals. Kalen Surles had 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Cass 43, 2ANo. 10 Armuchee 38: The Lady Colonels knocked off Armuchee behind Jana Morning’s 15 points and Payton Stoddard’s 9.

McIntosh 63, New Manchester 50: DeLayne Rotolo dropped 18, Kennedi Miller scored 16 and Samantha Coffey added 12 to lead the Lady Chiefs to a non-region victory.

No. 4 North Oconee 58, Central Gwinnett 39: Emma Weynand posted 15 points in the Lady Titans victory.

Western Kentucky signee Nichel Tampa pitched in 10 points, 4 assists and 6 steals.

No. 2 Wesleyan 93, Effingham County 38: Mikayla Coombs finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds as Wesleyan used a balanced onslaught to rip Effingham County. Sutton West had 12 points and 9 rebounds. AC Carter went for 8 points and 12 rebounds and Natalie Armstrong tallied 8 boards.
