CLASS 6A

Saturday, March 1 at Georgia State

R4 #1 No. 2 Grayson 53, R5 #1 No. 6 Cherokee 48: Grayson (30-1) rallied from down nine points in the third quarter to topple Cherokee (26-5), avenging their lone loss of the year which came in the season opener. Jacksonville-signee Tatum Brown poured in 21 points to lead the comeback. Zoie Lofton scored 11 points and Jayla Bennett added 8. South Florida-lacrosse signee Alex Whitecliffe scored 16 points while Lyla Griffith added 14 for the Warriors.

R4 #2 No. 7 Newton 55, R6 #1 No. 3 North Forsyth 47:  The young Rams rode sophomore London Smith to storm past North Forsyth (30-1). Smith poured in 15 points in the third quarter to give Newton (24-5) a 37-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter after trailing 23-18 at the half. Smith finished with a game-high 28 points. Mya Perry scored 10 points and Zoey Jackson added 7. Chattanooga-signee London Weaver finished her career with 22 points for the Raiders. Gabbie Gliatta netted 10 points.

CLASS 5A

Friday, February 28 at Georgia State

R3 #1 No. 2 Langston Hughes 66, R1 #1 No. 8 Bradwell Institute 46: Karrell Greene came off the bench to pour in a game-high 24 points to power Langston Hughes (29-2). UGA-signee Jocelyn Faison scored 12 points while Georgia State-signee Savannah Robinson-Holmes tacked on 10. Kylar Rae Johnson (9) and Cornelia Ellington (8) balanced the attack. West Georgia-signee Parris Parham paced Bradwell Institute (26-4) with 20 points.

R6 #1 No. 1 River Ridge 91, R7 #1 No. 4 Milton 64: River Ridge (30-1) advanced to their second state championship in three years. The Knights led 33-7 early in the second quarter before Milton (24-7) cut the lead to 11. Finley Parker (22), Georgia Southern-signee Kayla Cleaveland (20), Kyla Cantey (16), Makayla Roberson (15) and Furman-signee Sophia Pearl (11) balanced the attack. Milton was led by Londyn Walker’s 20 points. Florida A&M-signee Zana Justice had 14 points and Deyva Davis added 11.

CLASS 4A

Saturday, March 1 at Fort Valley State

R4 #1 No. 1 Creekside 54, R7  R5 #1 No. 3 Marist 43: The dream of a perfect season is still alive for Creekside (31-0) after the Seminoles withstood star guard C’India Dennis fouling out at the 3:50 mark with 32 points and the Noles up 49-36, knocking off defending state champion Marist (29-3). Kate Harpring scored 28 in the loss.

R4 #3 No. 10 Maynard Jackson 80, R8 #1 No. 5 North Oconee 79 3OT: A wild marathon of a game was decided by a controversial whistle as Aaliyah Weaver baited a foul and coolly sank two free throws with three seconds left to lift Maynard Jackson (20-7) back to Macon for a chance to repeat as state champs, surviving Oklahoma-signee Kendall Wells’ 30 points. Missed free throws plagued the Lady Titans in the loss who took the lead with 12 seconds left on a Lolly Willis baseline wrap-around pass to freshman Leah Pollack after Cayden Cornish sank a pair of free throws to give the Jaguars the lead, part of her 23 points. Weaver finished with 29 points to power the Jaguars while Willis netted 28 for the Titans. Journey Conley double-doubled for Maynard Jackson with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

CLASS 3A

Friday, February 28 at Fort Valley State

#4 No. 8 Cherokee Bluff 56, #8 Jenkins 54: Bristol Kersh netted 17 points including the game-winning banked in runner at the buzzer to lift Cherokee Bluff (24-8) to the state championship. Claire Carlson scored 23 points and hit a corner three late in the game to take a one-point lead before Jenkins (20-9) answered with a go-ahead bucket. I’Yarna Lee led the Warriors with 23 points.

#7 No. 1 Baldwin 62, #3 No. 3 Fayette County 55: Baldwin (25-6) received 20 points and 18 rebounds from Janaye Walker. Georgia Southwestern-signee Kassidy Neal piled in 20 points and 8 rebounds to top Fayette County (25-6) for the second time this season. Suri Clark double-doubled with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Tigers saw Journy Scott score 17 points. USC Upstate-soccer commit Deyla McCoy netted 15 points while New York-signee Megan Ohonde had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. BriAnn Freeman chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds.

CLASS 2A

Friday, February 28 at Georgia  Southwestern

#1 No. 3 Murray County 71, #5 No. 8 Morgan County 66: Murray County (30-1) advanced to the state championship for the first time since 1966 behind freshman Blaklee Ledford’s 21 points and 5 assists.  Montreat-commit Bayleigh Winkler posted 17 points and 8 rebounds while Callan Ledford collected 12 points and 10 rebounds. In the loss, Morgan County (21-10) was led by Emmanuel-signee Jaden Young’s 29 points. Kymora Smith and Cydney Burke each scored 14 points.

#3 No. 4 Hardaway 65, #2 No. 1 Josey 45: Hardaway (25-6) advanced back to the state championship, pulling away from Josey (24-4) in the fourth quarter.

CLASS A D-I

Saturday, March 1 at Georgia College

#1 No. 3 Fannin County 72, #5 No. 2 East Laurens 63: Fannin County (28-2) punched their ticket back to Macon for the first time since 2021 as the Rebels pulled away from East Laurens (22-6) in the second half.

#2 No. 1 Banks County 51, #3 No. 5 Model 44 OT: Model (24-6) melted down against the Leopards’ pressure, squandering a 44-38 lead with 66 seconds to play in regulation, losing in overtime as Banks County (25-5) finished the game on an 13-0 run. The Lady Blue Devils had upwards of 30+ turnovers allowing the Leopards to stay within striking distance as they trailed for a significant portion of the second half.

CLASS A D-II

Friday, February 28 at Georgia College

R4 #1 No. 1 Wilcox County 75, R3 #1 No. 5 Screven County 47: Jaliah Roberts had 22 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Screven County (23-6) while Olivia Jackson had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

R8 #1 Washington-Wilkes 66, R6 #1 No. 2 Macon County 55: Washington-Wilkes (14-8) clinched a berth in the state title game by beating Macon County (22-4).

CLASS 3A-1A PRIVATE

Friday, February 28 at North Georgia

#1 No. 1 Hebron Christian 74, #5 No. 4 Galloway 32: Auburn-signee Ja’Kerra Butler scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while George Washington-signee Mia James pitched in 17 for Hebron Christian (29-1). Miami-signee Danielle Osho had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Alanna Beckham scored 10. Taryn Thompson scored 15 points for Galloway (20-9).

#3  No. 3 Holy Innocents’ 63, #2 No. 2 St. Francis 61: Freshman Loriel Murray scored 18 points, 16 in the second half including the game-winner with 10 seconds left to advance Holy Innocents’ (24-5) to the state title game. Stanford-signee and All-American Hailee Swain had the steal and assist to win the game, finishing with a game-high 23 points. Nakhai Worthy added 14 points. Giaunni Rogers netted 16 points and Camryn Golston powered St. Francis (28-3) with 15 points.
